Becca James

Becca James - Associate Editor

Becca is originally from Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin, and appreciates cold weather, sparsely populated areas, and the expression, “uff da!”

Currently, she is pursuing an education in journalism, with a concentration in magazine writing and editing, at Columbia College Chicago. Becca is obsessed with school and plans to graduate in May of 2011. Prior to being a student at Columbia, Becca attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, where she was an Arts & Entertainment staff writer for the university’s newspaper, the Statesman.

Becca spent the past summer dreaming of starting her own business and mourning the loss of John Hughes. Before the daydreaming and mourning became an albatross, she was a tour guide at Fairlawn Mansion in Superior, Wisconsin. A co-worker once described his experience with Becca like so, “it’s like working with a young, female version of John Cusack from High Fidelity.”

A rambunctious girl who enjoys music, preferably 1980s pop or Cat Stevens, Becca is an avid reader of Esquire. In her spare time, she enjoys baking cupcakes and reading newspapers for errors. She actively collects pop-up books and vinyl records. Becca aspires to play the harmonica like John Popper and write like Jim Heffernan.
