Joe Stahl - Contributing Writer
As the youngest child of his family, Joe usually found a way to get whatever it was that he really wanted. In between him eating his mother’s Italian meatballs and being forced to watch scary televangelists like Billy Graham on Sunday mornings with his father, Joe enjoyed the pleasures in life. For a while, all he wanted were Barbie dolls and Fairy Winkles- that phase didn’t last past the age of four.
When he bought his first album, Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill, in ’95 with what was probably money from his grandma, something told him that music wasn’t going to be some transient pleasure of his. Joe received his first music taste buds from his older cousin and sister who enjoyed the sounds of strong female artists like Tori Amos, Fiona Apple and Bjork. Now a decade later, Joe is grateful for the music that has been exposed to him and hopes to give back to the rest of the world the music that he has to share.
His point of origin is St. Louis, MO, but he is now enjoying a two-year layover in Amherst, MA where he is attending college and trying new things and meeting new people. He’s sad that newspapers are now becoming a dying breed, but it isn’t stopping him from writing about the things he loves.
