Laina Dawes - Staff Writer

Laina Dawes is a freelance writer from Toronto, Canada. When she isn’t trying to fight social inequalities from her cramped and messy apartment, or annoying her neighbors with her penchant for blasting Napalm Death at full blast, she is probably out at a metal show.

A former contributing writer for METAL EDGE magazine, she currently serves as the contributing editor for the Race & Ethnicity section at Blogher.com and previous writing can be found in the Toronto Star and online at Slavetotheism, Popmatters and AfroToronto. She also blogs at her (admittedly schizophrenic) website, Writing is Fighting where she attempts to merge her passions for social justice issues, race and metal.
