Michael Denslow

Michael Denslow - Contributing Writer

Michael Denslow is 28-years-old and currently resides in Westmont, IL. That’s the suburbs. He listens to all types of music but has a special love for, and belief in the power of, hip hop music and culture.

Aside from music, Mike is a full-time graduate student at National-Louis University, where he is earning his MAT in special education. He also tutors children with autism, but has had to scale back his hours do to his class load. Hence he is low on money. He does not have a PayPal account, but would be happy to set one up if people show an interest in donating money to the cause of sending him to more concerts.

Mike loves his city (Chicago, not Westmont) and “puts on” for it. He is a die-hard Cubs fan and his head is swimming at the prospect of an all-Chicago World Series.

Mr. Mike’s five MC’s: Jay-Z, Nas, Rakim, Ghostface Killah, and The Notorious B.I.G.

Some of Mr. Mike’s favorite non-rap artists: Johnny Cash, The Velvet Underground, The Clash, The Pixies, Radiohead, and The Arcade Fire.

Mr. Mike’s favorite rap albums (at the moment): Aquemini, Illmatic, The Score, Enter the 36 Chambers, The College Dropout.

Mr. Mike’s favorite non-rap albums (again at the moment): In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, OK Computer, Disintegration, Abbey Road, Siamese Dream.

On September 2, Michael Denslow, with a little help from his friends, will be launching a brand new site, Beats Per Millennium. It’s a hip hop site for people who are tired of the juvenile nature of most hip hop sites.
