Will Hines - Associate Editor
Will doesn’t really know where he is from, per se, having grown up in a multi-cultural, breakneck environment. ‘Home’ has included Malaysia, Texas, Holland and the UK, although his public school British accent kind of gives the game away.
He had two options- hate music, or love music, as his Dad used to remind him that he had ‘seen Arcade Fire and Jimi Hendrix 7 times’ by blowing out their music at 140 db. Will tried the former, was a moody bastard and opted for the latter. His first concert was the Counting Crows at nine years old, followed rapidly by the White Stripes, The Strokes and Kings Of Leon. At 15, he graduated on to covering festivals and is pushing hard to become a paid music journalist.
Will went to a pseudo-posh boarding school where he found very few people who shared his undying passion for music. Instead, Now 50 was on regular rotation, whilst he held bastion with ‘the bootleg copy of Weekend In The City’. “Huh?” they said.
The internet is much kinder, however, and he is really happy to have found his place at CoS and in running his music blog, The Cold Cut. At 18 years old, he is a budding DJ and mash-up artist in training; the aim now to contribute back into the pool of music that has given him so much pleasure. Having escaped school, he worked at IBM for a year and is still undecided on his plans to attend a university.
He dreams of living out in the US, in some sort of job where he gets paid ridiculous amounts to laze around listening to music. With sun, hopefully.
His CV is available on request, and work will soon be found at www.williamehines.com
