It’s a well known fact that there’s many members of the Jamily that hang out at CoS, so here’s some news that’ll make you regret whatever you did on Halloween.

During the shindig, the mighty Seattle fivesome busted out such rarities as “Bugs”, “Sweet Lew”, and “Out of My Mind”. And it wouldn’t have been Halloween without some costumes. The band donned Devo outfits and treated the crowd to a racuous “Whip It.” All this was part of the 130 songs they played throughout the four-night stand. (100 different tunes). Yes, they’re that awesome

According to an issued press release, the fifteen track, Arran Fisher-produced Die Stadt Muzikanten will be released by Boompa Records on Janurary 12, 2010. As the press release details, the album “…Moves and contorts like a film soundtrack. Lush, grand moments complement Mark’s signature cinematic “pretty-pretty-pop” sound.” Sound interesting? Wait… there is more!

The title of the record should come as no surprise to those who’ve been following Andrew as of late. After an extended stay in Germany, Hamilton found himself “fascinated by the endless inspiration as he recollected thoughts of his childhood and took in the sounds and smells of a place once inhabited by his grandparents, to whom the album is dedicated.”

“I started thinking in terms of couples,” explains Hamilton of his time in Berlin, “of people coming and going, of walls and windows. Images of boating across the ocean to an unknown new life, and how so many of the movements I took run in the opposite direction from theirs.” Upon his return to his small Calgary apartment, the songs revealed themselves and Die Stadt Muzikanten was born.”

Andrew is still staying true to his Canadian roots, however. He was recently included in the CBC Radio 2 “Great Canadian Song Quest” competition. Evidently, Woodpigeon is one of five artists from the vast province of Alberta who are up for the opportunity to compose a song inspired by locations as chosen by Canadians. You can hear the first sampling off Die Stadt Muzikanten, and vote for Woodpigeon now by going to cbc.ca.

Recorded over two nights at Madison Square Garden in 1969, the effort is considered the band’s first official full-length live release. 40 years later, the set will be packaged as a deluxe box set and a super deluxe box set. Basically, for many Stones fans, this is the expanded edition they’ve been hoping and praying for. And when you look at the tracklisting, it’s hard to blame them.

The set is comprised of a remastered disc of the original Ya-Ya’s repertoire as well as a disc of five previously songs that were left off of the original release, including “Prodigal Son“, “You Gotta Move”, “Under My Thumb”, “I’m Free”, and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”. The third CD encompasses unreleased performances by the shows’ openers: B.B. King and Ike & Tina Turner, five songs from the former, and seven songs from the latter.

Also included will be a film of the same title by filmmakers Albert and David Maysles, which will offer full-length performance footage of the five aforementioned previously unreleased songs, a sequence with Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, and Jack the donkey during the cover shoot for the Ya-Ya’s album, in addition to backstage “tête-à-têtes” between Keith Richards, Jimi Hendrix, and Mick Taylor.

That not enough for you? Good, because there’s more!

The deluxe edition will also pack a 56-page Collectors Edition book featuring photos and an essay by Ethan Russell, as well as the original Rolling Stone review by Lester Bangs, and a replica of the original Stones ’69 tour poster by David Byrd. Plus, there will be a code in a limited number of Box Sets enabling fans to download “I’m Free” for Guitar Hero 5.

The super deluxe edition includes all of the above with the addition of three vinyl LPs, one of which has etched images featuring the cover art and the Rolling Stones’ signatures.

The deluxe edition will hit shelves first on Novemeber 3rd, with the super deluxe edition following on November 17th. Both will be released through ABKCO Records. No word on the pricing for the two releases, but we do have a complete tracklist for you below. So, check that out… while you’re searching the couch for those pennies.

According to Rolling Stone, the bottom line with the much-discussed move from Pearl Jam is that Target “passed the band’s moral barometer” and “opened the possibility of cool exclusives for die-hard fans.”

Now, considering Pearl Jam’s oft-controversial history with any number of corporations, including Ticketmaster, last year’s debacle with AT&T at Lollapalooza, and its decision not to re-sign with Sony, the band’s moral barometer seems pretty sturdy. What’s more, it appears that the deal with Target didn’t require the almighty Jam to “Sever ties with the independent record stores or their own Ten Club, and it paved the way for Backspacer to appear on iTunes and greatly improved the band’s take on each CD sold,” explained guitarist Stone Gossard in the interview. If you’re familiar with the band’s history, Gossard once stood before Congress to try and bring Ticketmaster down, so with that in mind, how bad can Target really be?

Lead singer Eddie Vedder goes on to state, “We’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and we’ve done it in a way that we think will be good for everybody. I can’t think of anything we’ve ever done without putting it through our own personal moral barometer. Target has passed for us. The fans just have to trust us.”  After hearing the righteous first single from Backspacer, I think it’s safe to say most fans will be on board with this one.

If there were ever any doubt as to who Pearl Jam is always looking out for, a hop over to Target’s site tells fans that they will get to select two of a possible 11 concerts for download, and the shows span Pearl Jam’s entire career with the purchase of Backspacer.

There aren’t many bands that can sign a deal with a big-box retailer yet still consider the fans their number one priority. If anyone can do it, it’s Pearl Jam. Dear Santa Claus, why can’t there be more bands like them?

Blessing Sainthood will be 13 songs, including such selections as “The Ocean”, “Hell”, and “On Directing”. “Feel It In My Bones”, another new track that will be appearing on Tiësto’s new album, however, did not make the cut.

As you’ll see below, the cover art sports some rather rad stuff, with Tegan looking cut and pasted onto a mannequin’s body. My guess is a simple game of ro, sham, bo decided who was destined to be the mannequin, but you can make your own judgment. Front of the album on the left, back on the right.

Tegan & Sara have also scheduled a few upcoming tour dates, but so far only those in Los Angeles and New York will be lucky enough to catch them in the foreseeable future. That said, I’ve got a hunch that they’re just getting warmed up.

Origin:Orphan was recorded in Berlin, Germany and Toronto, Ontario and delves into new territory.  The dark synths of the title track and dominant orchestration of “Walk On” counterbalance the upbeat playfulness of “In The NA” and “Underage”.  The Hidden Cameras have always been known for their celebratory live performances, taken to churches, art galleries, with forty-piece dance troupes, and even performed in Munich, Germany during the halftime of a Bayern-Munich soccer game in front of a crowd of over 100,000.  They always make for a night not to be missed.

An audience of 100,000? Those in attendance at the Dublin Street United Church should certainly feel blessed.

On September 1st, some 20 years after the release of his debut novel, And the Ass Saw the Angel, Cave will release The Death of Bunny Munro via Faber & Faber. Billed as a furious, funny, and disturbing account of a traveling salesman’s last days on earth, the book looks to be just what one would expect from this rock and roll demon.

Set adrift by his wife’s suicide and struggling to keep some sort of grasp on reality, Bunny Munro drives off in his yellow Fiat Punto, Bunny Jr. in tow. To his son, waiting patiently in the car while he peddles beauty wares and quickies to lonely housewives in the south of England, Bunny is a hero, larger than life. So far, Cave’s only planned publicity appearance in support of the release will be on September 14th at the Barnes and Noble Union Square in New York City. But with The Death of Bunny Munro being released in 31 countries, King Ink may be bringing his yellow Punto to your neighborhood soon.
