As previously reported, Burial’s new EP, Kindred, is out this week via Hyperdub. To amplify the release, the London artist has issued a video for one of the three tracks, “Loner”. While not the most exciting visuals in the world, per se, the Miguel Bidarra & Inês Mendes-directed kaleidoscopic clip marries the music well. If you know someone with a projector, tell them to use this at their next party – or, just have a killer late night with the A/V club. Sigh, to be in college still. Check it out below (via Prefix).

Rock and roll and strippers have always gone hand-in-hand, like peanut butter and jelly or scurvy and pirates. Welsh indie-pop outfit Los Campesinos! seek their own unique brand of fun with these hard-working ladies in the music video for “Songs About Your Girlfriend”. In the David Spearing-directed clip, the band takes on two roles: as themselves performing in a strip club and as the strippers, represented by real girls wearing giant masks of the band members’ faces (think Big Head Mode from N64′s Goldeneye). As they dance and twirl around, the enormous, lifeless faces make the act of strip clubbing all that more depressing. Watch the video below (via Pitchfork).

The band’s latest LP, Hello Sadness, is out now via Wichita. “Songs About Your Girlfriend” will be released as a single on March 19th.

Jack White has released the video for “Love Interruption”, the lead single from his upcoming solo debut, Blunderbuss. Directed by White himself, the clip also features back-up vocalist Ruby Amanfu, clarinet/bass clarinet player Emily Bowland, and Brooke Waggoner on wurlitzer electric piano. Watch it below.

EMA has released a video for “Take One Two”, the latest single off her top album Past Life Martyred Saints. It comprises footage of Erika M. Anderson “dressing up, hanging out, making up funny skits” with her friends in the mid-1990s. However, as Anderson explains, there’s a rather important underlying message:

“This footage comes from a South Dakota trailer park in the mid-90s, and features a small group of freaks and misfits who seem to be having the time of their lives. Dressing up, hanging out, making up funny skits, and lots of laughing. When I look back now at our fresh young faces (yes that is me with the short dark hair and cat-eye liner), I’m amazed at how simply happy we all look. This is especially remarkable as I know what was going on outside those plywood walls: getting called names, shoved into lockers, and threatening to get our asses kicked for being queer or punk or just plain weird.

On a U.S. tour for the first time since frontman Tom Meighan’s swine flu canceled their last, Kasabian stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman last night, where they performed Velociraptor!’s “Days Are Forgotten”. Catch the replay below (via The Audio Perv).

To coincide with their new album, Little Mountain, Juno Award-winning outfit Said the Whale has created promotional videos for 13 of the 15 album tracks. The series kicked off last week with album opener “We Are 1980″. Below, watch the video for song number two, ”Big Sky, MT”.

Says the band’s Ben Worcester:

“It’s a song about my late-grandfather and the roles that love and nature played in his life.  The producers of this video did a wonderful job interpreting the meaning of the song into a story about a girl exploring the hills of Montana with her grandfather.  The video concludes much like the life of my grandfather did – with a riverside memorial service during which members of my family tossed flowers into the water.”

Last week’s episode of IFC’s Portlandia taught us that Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein probably aren’t the most ideal movers around town. (In the hilarious sketch, they take months to move a woman’s personal belongings…with a bike.) Apparently Joanna Newsom didn’t read their Yelp review; otherwise, she wouldn’t trust Fred & Carrie with her harp. Come to think of it, this is likely what happened to the cast of Hair, once they turned 35 and bought hatchbacks and/or sedans. It took a little less than two years, but the video for UNKLE‘s Where Did the Night Fall collaboration with Mark Lanegan, “Another Night Out”, is finally here. As previously reported, Jack White will release his solo debut, Blunderbuss, on April 24th via Third Man/Columbia. To go along with upcoming appearances at the Sasquatch! and Hangout music festivals, White has scheduled shows in Tennessee, Alabama, and Oklahoma for next month. Bedroom pop composer Mauro Remiddi (aka Porcelain Raft) has unveiled the music video for “Something In Between”, the B-side to the forthcoming single “Unless You Speak From Your Heart”. Sonically, it’s another lush, flowing cut of melodic guitars and hazy vocals that melts into a cascade of crashing snares and lighter-than-air vocals. At first glance, the accompanying visuals are merely a random compilation of some billboards and other urban imagery, but as Remiddi explained on his YouTube page, it’s an exploration of the connections we don’t always notice right away.

“A few months ago I filmed the billboard you see at the beginning of the video. I forgot about those images I took until a week ago, while driving back after filming the video for ‘Unless You Speak From You Heart’, we saw the same exact billboard collapsed on the BQE, very close to where I live. That structure consisted of two different billboards that don’t face each other but are connected somehow. ‘Something In Between’ feels like the right title for that.”

Porcelain Raft’s debut LP, Strange Weekend, is out now via Secretly Canadian. The single “Unless You Speak From Your Heart” b/w “Something In Between” will hit stores on February 21st.

It’s been about four years since Portland’s own Chromatics dropped its last album, Night Drive, back in 2007. Now, as Gorilla vs Bear reports, the Johnny Jewel-featuring Italo Disco act may return Valentine’s Day with its follow up, Kill For Love, and to build on the previously released first single, “Kill For Love”, they’ve now issued a second: album opener “Into the Black”.  If that title rings a bell, it should; it’s a Neil Young cover, though with a psychedelic wash that makes it rather fitting for a Dario Argento scarefest. Check out a stream and download of the track below, including its spooky, melancholic Alberto Rossini-directed video shortly after. Keep your eyes open for the new, elusive LP, too.

While in Singapore for the Laneway Festival this weekend, Girls paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston with a cover of “I Will Always Love You”. Watch the video below (via Disco Naïveté).

When it came about that Dave Grohl was working on a sitcom for FX, we asked if there was anything he can’t do. As if winning five Grammys didn’t prove there in fact isn’t, the recent trailer for his upcoming Sound City documentary seals it. The fact that the Foo Fighters frontman filmed a doc about the famed and now defunct eponymous L.A. recording studio of the title is intriguing, but the list of names contributing to the project is the real kicker.

According the the recently revealed trailer, Grohl has gathered a veritable pantheon of musical icons: Trent Reznor, Joshua Homme, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic, Cheap Trick, Lars Ulrich, Stephen Pearcy, and Rick Springfield are just some of the names involved. So why are so many familiar faces joining Grohl in this endeavor? “That place was like a church,” he explained in a recent interview on Sound City (via CraveOnline). “The list of people that recorded there is like a virtual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We recorded Nevermind there back in 1991. That funky old place had the best drum room in the world. The drum sound at the beginning of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit?’ That’s Sound City.”

The trailer for the movie, which Grohl says is “about that feeling when you put five guys in a room, hit ‘record’ and the hair on the back of your neck stands up,” can be viewed below. No release date is currently available, so stay tuned.

Sir Paul McCartney was honored as the 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year in Los Angeles Friday night. The ceremony featured a number of live performances, including covers of “Jet” by Foo Fighters, “Blackbird” by Alicia Keys, “Hey Jude” by Katy Perry, “We Can Work It Out” by Coldplay, and “I Saw You Standing There” by Neil Young & Crazy Horse, which marked the reunited outfit’s first performance in eight years.

In addition, Sir Paul performed two tracks from his new LP Kisses on the Bottom, “My Valentine” and “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter”, as well as past classics like “Junior’s Farm”, “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five”, “Golden Slumbers”, “Carry the Weight”, and “The End”.

Tonight, The Kills commemorate the 10th anniversary of their musical partnership, as well as the final scheduled date of their Blood Pressures tour with a special performance at New York City’s Terminal 5. The concert will also be streaming live at MTV Hive starting at 10:30 pm ET. Update: A replay of the performance is streaming below.

As previously reported, The Kills will release their next single, “The Last Goodbye”, on Valentine’s Day. The four-track effort also includes covers of The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes”, Patsy Cline’s “Crazy”, and Marilyn Monroe’s “One Silver Dollar”. It will be available digitally and on CD, and a limited edition 10″ vinyl via Domino.

Though technically Childish Gambino‘s new video for “Heartbeat”, mastermind Donald Glover prefers to describe director Kyle Newacheck’s visuals as a “reflection” of how he was feeling when he recorded the song. “I thought the best way to convey the feeling that’s in the song was to be confused ourselves,” Glove told MTV, adding, ”I wouldn’t say it’s so much a video as much as it is just a mood.” Whatever the case, having just got home from a midnight screening of Drive, I’m now really itching to buy a Scorpion jacket and driving gloves.

Glover’s top album Camp is out now via Glassnote.

If you’ve been at a loss for words while listening to Bruce Springsteen‘s latest single, “We Take Care of Our Own”, then you’ll want to watch its new video. In it, the song’s lyrics wash over sharp black and white shots of The Boss walking in what appears to be a meat packing plant. It’s sort of like those old Disney videos, only there’s no bouncing ball. Also, the ending slightly apes the Jeff Daniels TBS classic Pleasantville, specifically when Springsteen holds his hands up to the dawning light, naturally restoring all of life’s rich colors. Cynicism aside, it’s a classic Bruce video. Watch it below.

“Weird Al” Yankovic visited The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night, where he and his band of merrymen performed the celebrating-skewing “TMZ”, from last year’s Alpocalypse. After all, nothing says outrage over society’s obsession with overindulgent pseudo-celebrities like a funky accordion beat. Watch the replay below.

As far as childhood toys go, the kaleidoscope was criminally underappreciated. Picked up with eager curiosity, it was quickly discarded for other fare when the swirling colors became blasé. Erasure unearths the relic for their latest music video supporting their current single, “Fill Us With Fire”. Filmed sometime during the band’s 2011 tour, the video features performances and various eccentric imagery filtered through a fiery red-colored kaleidoscope that gels over the song’s pounding synths with ease. Erasure’s 14th LP, Tomorrow’s World, is out now via Mute. “Fill Us With Fire” the single will be available on March 12th as an eight-track CD and download.

The better of the two post-Oasis projects, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, has unleashed the video for its latest single, “Dream On”. In the clip, Noel referees a brutal boxing match which pits a hard-hitting woman against one unfortunate fellow. Watch it below (via Stereogum).

It’s been almost a year since The Kills released its fourth LP, Blood Pressures, but they’re still out there going strong. Case in point, last night they swung by New York’s Ed Sullivan Theater to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman, where they performed their latest single, “The Last Goodbye”. We’ve digressed not once but twice now on how Alison Mosshart brings the “sexy” to modern rock, so here’s a third time: If you’re not under her spell, consider yourself immune. Even with the fiery Nicholas Cage in tow and a Top List 10 by our Band of the Year, the Foo Fighters, we’re still spinning over Mosshart’s aura (and that hair!). As previously reported, The Kills’ latest single “The Last Goodbye” will be released in a four-track package on February 14th via Domino Records. Backing the single are a trio of previously revealed covers: The Velvet Underground’s “Pale Blue Eyes”, Patsy Cline’s “Crazy”, and Marilyn Monroe’s “One Silver Dollar”. The release will be available in standard formats, in addition to a limited edition 10? vinyl, which is available for pre-order right now.

While in New York recently, Bon Iver‘s Justin Vernon stopped by the Jimmy Fallon studios. While there, he teamed up with The Roots for an eight-minute, improvised jam-out of Bon Iver, Bon Iver‘s “Perth”. For whatever reason, the performance never made it to TV; instead, it’s available below as a web exclusive (via Fallon’s blog):

Out of Berlin by way of London and Cairo comes dubby electronic trio FROGG. Frontwoman Mills brings her vocals in from the UK to combine with the duo of German producers Mo Delgado and DJ Luke 4000. The result is a bass-heavy groove holding up Mills’ couplet-heavy lyrics and rapid-fire delivery.

The group’s debut record, Blink Blink, arrives in April. For an advanced listen, check out the video for their debut single “Shut the Fuck Down”. Mills’ lyrics take aim at the Internet’s hold on humanity, claiming “Internet’s just a net internal / so I’ll be burning it to hell”. Visually, the clip features a wire-covered Millis and one fearlessly expressive granny. Watch it below.

Nowadays, so many bands spend the better part of their year on the road, it’s no doubt a challenging time to find ways to sleep, eat, relax, and keep sane. For Seattle’s The Head and the Heart, who continue to champion their self-titled debut album from last year, the road offered a pleasant, ever-changing adventure, fully captured for their latest video. “Down in the Valley”, like so many of the group’s tunes, is a soft crooner – the sort of track fitting for a rainy day – and here it finds aural and visual harmony. It’s Thursday, so we’re really inches away from the weekend, but if you need a break, let your mind wander some. Based on this video, the band certainly did. Check it out below.

On March 20th, Matador Records will release Between the Tides and the Times, Lee Ranaldo‘s first song-based solo album, featuring a roster of guests that include Nels Cline, John Medeski, Alan Licht and Steve Shelley. Over the next few months, the label will issue several videos to support the release, starting with the previously-heard single “Off the Wall”. Behind chugging-yet-melodic distortion, the Sonic Youth co-founder sings about “uncertain days” and being “half a man trying to get home.” It’s a heart-warming, soul-on-its-sleeve charmer that could fit a number of montage sequences from half a dozen ’90s indie flicks. Combined with performance footage shot at Brooklyn’s Glasslands, in addition to countless other New York outdoor landmarks, it’s not too hard to see why here. Check it out below.

Conan’s on a two-win streak right now. After shedding some spotlight on Alabama Shakes Tuesday night, Team Coco cleared the stage for Pennsylvania’s own Dr. Dog on Wednesday. Out supporting their seventh LP, Be The Void, which hit stores this week, the psychedelic rockers knocked out a stormy cut of “That Old Black Hole”.
