hey bman, what does that foo fighters crap have to do with the festival outlook page? they ain’t playing festivals???
CNN: So what is going on with the Foo Fighters right now?
Grohl: I think the band decided to take a break not because we wanted to stop making music, but because we thought the world needed to take a break from us. This greatest hits record — that’s the end of something, you know. It’s time to move on into this next chapter or another phase. Maybe it will be different in whatever way. I don’t know.
But to be honest, we put our hearts and a lot of thought into what we do, but never so much that anything feels overly calculated or choreographed. It’s nice to not know what’s going to happen next. We’re going over to do some shows in Europe (this week), but after that, it’s like I don’t even know when I’m going to see these guys. So it’s kind of weird.

Alex, where are you hearing those rumblings? The main producer of the fest has moved to Athens and many of his friends are straight shooting it down…….
I wouldn’t be surprised to see “Landerado”, but I will be surprised to see anywhere near South Florida.
Is that something you are hearing? I’m intrigued so please do share…
Please please please give me some hope brother…..
Ghost - I would beg to differ on that assumption. But that’s just the rumor I’ve heard.
no announcement on Langerado yet, so don’t hold your breath. It is more than likely not coming back….

Musicport 09 promises a wide range of international national and regional artists celebrating bringing 10 years of bringing the best in global music to the Yorkshire coast. This year’s eclectic line up mixes many artists who are new to the festival with some who have performed before. With the successful transition to its new venue undertaken last year this year Musicport 09 is set to be the biggest and best yet. The 10th anniversary will be a celebration of what has gone before as well as pointer towards what the future holds in store for its loyal audience that has grown year on year.
This year’s line-up includes music, dance and spoken word traditions from countries as diverse as Tibet, New Zealand, Chile, India, Malawi, Jamaica, D R Congo, Sudan, Philippines, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Cape Verde, Bulgaria, Niger and Brazil as well as many excellent UK based artists.
From the multi-talented Nitin Sawhney (at the forefront of the Asian Underground movement) to regular Radio 4 comedian/musician Mitch Benn,

From the lead singer of The Inspiral Carpets to the only living master of the traditional instrument of the fishermen of Lake Chad in Niger (Mamane Barka).

Is there any news or word on ECHO PROJECT 2009. It was one of the best festivals I have ever been too in 2007 and wish it would come back. Not to mention its one of the only festivals in the SouthEast U.S. Does anyone have any information, please let me know.

Add a festival which has run for the last 3 years and this year will be on July 25th, 2009 on the Mexican border town of Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. The festival grounds are 20 minutes from El Paso, Tx. it consists of mostly mexican artists:
Molotov, Zoe, Kinky among others. I would recommend you listen to a few songs on youtube.

Mexicans tend to get crazy and like to jump. This will be specially true with Molotov this year.
There is a great list of European festivals on this website.
You can search the line-ups of all the European Summer Music festivals at once to see where bands are playing.

virginfest baltimore has a web site now it doesnt have any details but it says 2009 announcement soon
What is happening with V fest Baltimore this year? I heard rumors of merriweather but that place is way too small. Pimlico was a sweet place for it but I haven’t heard anything about it so far.
“Anonymous” a few posts below noted Green Day, Wilco and Blur for V Fest Ontario. I have no idea what the source was for this, and these are all bands that have already been speculated anyway. I don’t know about Wilco, since they are in Ireland on August 28th, and V Fest is supposed to be August 29th and 30th. I think Green Day and Tragically Hip will headline, but we’ll see I guess. Blur would be nice but I won’t get my hopes up for that.
Rogers Picnic, unfortunately, is not happening. The band Rock Plaza Central said on the Stille Post message board that they were supposed to play but that it was scrapped for this year.
come on…anybody got rumors for Virgin Festival Ontario or Rogers Picnic in Toronto (if it’s even happening).
wilco? there is a yawnfest there.
does anyone know if rammstein is going to tour the US in 2010 after they are finished in europe?
Wilco at virginfest ontario as well as Blur
Green day as well but everyone knows that already
Would love to see it on the list!
Up and comer! The 2009 lineup is announced tomorrow…tickets go on sale May 23rd…
Virgin Fest probably ending up at Merriweather Pavilion

Not sure if anyone else has posted it, but The Essence Music Festival is in New Orleans, LA July 3-5, 2009. It includes artists such as Maxwell, John Legend, Raphael Saadiq, Solange, The Knux, Al Green, Eric Benet, Zap Mama, and many more. Definitely worth a spot in the festival list. Thanks
Blink 182 confirms US Tour w/ Weezer & Fall Out Boy
I’m trying to keep faith in V Fest. 06 and 07 both had really solid lineups, although last year was a bit off. And based on the lineups of Montreal and Halifax they’re trying to cater heavily to what (they think) the markets there want. Seeing how they have always tried to make Toronto’s more of an indie festival, I think they will still try and cater to those tastes ,especially with the state other Toronto indie fests (I seriously doubt Rogers Picnic is happening now).
Yeah, I’m going to go head down to the Harbourfront show too. I’ll have to try to get there really early.
Toronto’s festival season is not shaping up too well. Where is the Rogers Picnic announcement!? I have no faith in V Fest, so I’m counting on Rogers Picnic to at least provide something decent.
Yeah, it might not have been such a good idea to have a fest this small on the island, considering the increased cost of getting everybody/everything there. I might still try and make it down for their Harbourfront show, even if the view will be shit. I’m planning on going to the Holy Fuck/DDMMYYYY show the day before.
Definitely. Harbourfront is a decent enough venue, but it is way too small for this. I’ve seen the Hidden Cameras there a few times and it’s even too small for them! I guess this show didn’t sell well. It’s too bad. I guess they should have tried to get one more bigger name on the bill, like they did with Modest Mouse and Bloc Party in prior years.
Wow, that really sucks. Its going to be impossible to see them at Harbourfront Centre too. The place was WAY too small for even Crystal Castles when I saw them there last year.
It’s on the Arts & Crafts website (arts-crafts.ca). Broken Social Scene will instead play a free show at Harbourfront Centre on the same day. This sucks, I was looking forward to a show on the Island, and Harbourfront centre will be insane for a free BSS show.
Paul where did you find that info? I cant find anything about it.
