    Our festival is July 23-26.

    Thanks,

  6. Is there any news or word on ECHO PROJECT 2009. It was one of the best festivals I have ever been too in 2007 and wish it would come back. Not to mention its one of the only festivals in the SouthEast U.S. Does anyone have any information, please let me know.

  11. You can unlock the Whartscape event page finally. According to Wham City, the festival is actually from July 9th to July 12th. Several artists have already confirmed their appearance via their myspace pages, including Ponytail, Adventure, Double Dagger, Future Islands, Teengirl Fantasy, EAR PWR, Air Waves and Santa Dads

  14. Add a festival which has run for the last 3 years and this year will be on July 25th, 2009 on the Mexican border town of Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. The festival grounds are 20 minutes from El Paso, Tx. it consists of mostly mexican artists:

Molotov, Zoe, Kinky among others. I would recommend you listen to a few songs on youtube.

    http://www.festivalinternacionalrockenelrio.com/

Mexicans tend to get crazy and like to jump. This will be specially true with Molotov this year.

  15. There is a great list of European festivals on this website.
You can search the line-ups of all the European Summer Music festivals at once to see where bands are playing.

  18. virginfest baltimore has a web site now it doesnt have any details but it says 2009 announcement soon

  19. What is happening with V fest Baltimore this year? I heard rumors of merriweather but that place is way too small. Pimlico was a sweet place for it but I haven’t heard anything about it so far.

  20. “Anonymous” a few posts below noted Green Day, Wilco and Blur for V Fest Ontario. I have no idea what the source was for this, and these are all bands that have already been speculated anyway. I don’t know about Wilco, since they are in Ireland on August 28th, and V Fest is supposed to be August 29th and 30th. I think Green Day and Tragically Hip will headline, but we’ll see I guess. Blur would be nice but I won’t get my hopes up for that.

Rogers Picnic, unfortunately, is not happening. The band Rock Plaza Central said on the Stille Post message board that they were supposed to play but that it was scrapped for this year.

  21. come on…anybody got rumors for Virgin Festival Ontario or Rogers Picnic in Toronto (if it’s even happening).

  22. wilco? there is a yawnfest there.

  23. does anyone know if rammstein is going to tour the US in 2010 after they are finished in europe?

  24. Wilco at virginfest ontario as well as Blur
Green day as well but everyone knows that already

  25. Would love to see it on the list!

  26. Up and comer! The 2009 lineup is announced tomorrow…tickets go on sale May 23rd…

  27. Virgin Fest probably ending up at Merriweather Pavilion

    http://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/stories/2009/03/30/daily58.html

  28. Not sure if anyone else has posted it, but The Essence Music Festival is in New Orleans, LA July 3-5, 2009. It includes artists such as Maxwell, John Legend, Raphael Saadiq, Solange, The Knux, Al Green, Eric Benet, Zap Mama, and many more. Definitely worth a spot in the festival list. Thanks

  29. Blink 182 confirms US Tour w/ Weezer & Fall Out Boy

  30. I’m trying to keep faith in V Fest. 06 and 07 both had really solid lineups, although last year was a bit off. And based on the lineups of Montreal and Halifax they’re trying to cater heavily to what (they think) the markets there want. Seeing how they have always tried to make Toronto’s more of an indie festival, I think they will still try and cater to those tastes ,especially with the state other Toronto indie fests (I seriously doubt Rogers Picnic is happening now).

  31. Yeah, I’m going to go head down to the Harbourfront show too. I’ll have to try to get there really early.

Toronto’s festival season is not shaping up too well. Where is the Rogers Picnic announcement!? I have no faith in V Fest, so I’m counting on Rogers Picnic to at least provide something decent.

  32. Yeah, it might not have been such a good idea to have a fest this small on the island, considering the increased cost of getting everybody/everything there. I might still try and make it down for their Harbourfront show, even if the view will be shit. I’m planning on going to the Holy Fuck/DDMMYYYY show the day before.

  33. Definitely. Harbourfront is a decent enough venue, but it is way too small for this. I’ve seen the Hidden Cameras there a few times and it’s even too small for them! I guess this show didn’t sell well. It’s too bad. I guess they should have tried to get one more bigger name on the bill, like they did with Modest Mouse and Bloc Party in prior years.

  34. Wow, that really sucks. Its going to be impossible to see them at Harbourfront Centre too. The place was WAY too small for even Crystal Castles when I saw them there last year.

  35. It’s on the Arts & Crafts website (arts-crafts.ca). Broken Social Scene will instead play a free show at Harbourfront Centre on the same day. This sucks, I was looking forward to a show on the Island, and Harbourfront centre will be insane for a free BSS show.

  36. Paul where did you find that info? I cant find anything about it.

  37. Olympic Island Festival in Toronto has been canceled.

  38. http://www.thecoast.ca/SceneAndHeard/archives/2009/05/11/virgin-festival-09-tickets-on-sale-saturday

Full lineup for V Fest Halifax, Dinosaur Jr is on there too, as well as the Tragically Hip and others.

  39. The Offspring are confirmed for Virgin Festival Halifax, July 2 at Citadel Hill.

  40. Just added to Mile High Festival….Pepper!!! Also added Jack’s Mannequin, Matt Nathanson…and more to follow. Sweet!

  41. why no link to the street scene website. dates have been released.

  42. welcome to the malaise of summer…

  44. The New American Music Union Festival will not occur this year. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09059/952167-388.stm?cmpid=newspanel0

  45. Hi everyone,

I cleaned up the comments on this page. Deleted everything before April. Should keep things a bit more organized.

  46. Damn, no Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

  47. This is also the same weekend as Reading & Leeds, so that rules out some others that I thought would play V Fest such as Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Kings Of Leon. Yay, no Kings Of Leon!

  48. green day probably weren’t allowed to play toronto on this tour and that’s why the secondary markets close by have got dates. plus those dates are in july….vfest is in august.

they alaways do well in toronto so i can’t see them skipping us unless its to headline a festival.

  49. I dont know if Green Day is such a safe bet. They are playing Hamilton, and alot of bands that play Hamilton skip Toronto.

  50. I think camping is a good option for people, but I am also too old to camp. I’ll be able to quickly go home which will be a nice change.

Traffic was really bad around Molson Park. Hopefully this will be a bit better. I didn’t hear anything about the Jack Johnson show that they had there last year…I wonder how bad it was for that? I know this isn’t the ideal place, but I am just happy that it is happening at all.

I don’t care about the Beasties either, but they were the band that I was certain would headline. Green Day is definitely a safe bet now.

  51. just the traffic to molson park was bad enough for lollapalooza every year, nevermind the last weekend of the summer before the long weekend…it’s gonna be crazy busy. i loved the setting of the island and the fact i could go home, shower and sleep in my own bed. i may be too old to camp.

green day will headline! no toronto show on the tour was a give away and i’m sure they’ll headline calgary too.

i’m not chuffed about the beasties not being there, i’ve never been a huge fan and never enjoyed them live.

but i do wonder who the other main acts will be.

  52. Normally it wouldn’t take 2 hours to get there, probably just over an hour, but with festival traffic it could be 2 hours. I agree, the Island was great. Even though I live in Barrie and this venue is only 15 minutes away, I’d still prefer the Island. But, this is better than Downsview, and the lack of camping was always an issue. Really this is not that bad if they offer camping.

Now the line-up. I guess Beastie Boys are out as they will be at Outside Lands that weekend.

  53. paul, i hate the fact that it’s almost 2 hours out of the city.

i loved vfest on the island, it was a perfect setting and i could walk to the docks (i took the ttc though).

  54. I’m so glad that VFest Toronto is not happening at Downsview. I know people will hate that they have to travel an hour north of Toronto, but I still think it’s better than Downsview Park.

  55. Dfest lineup came out today . . .

“Headliners include Black Crowes, Ozomatli, The Knux, Blue October, Gogol Bordello, Citizen Cope, Bassnectar, Gringo Star, The Uglysuit, Rachelle Van Zanten, Joe Pug, Gil Mantera’s Party Dream, DJ Rekha, Bill Hamel, Delta Spirit and Other Lives, as well as a bumper crop of emerging and local and regional artists. More will be announced soon, said event co-founders Angie DeVore Green and Tom Green.”

  56. Philadelphia Folk Festival - Adrien Reju, Alela Diane, Boris Garcia, Caravan of Thieves, Chris Kasper, Del McCoury Band, Ellis Paul, Enter The Haggis, Erik Mongrain, Frog Holler, Gene Shay, Iron and Wine, Joe Pug, Justin Townes Earle, Langhorne Slim, Marissa Nadler, Rebirth Brass Band, Sara Hickman, Slo-Mo featuring Mic Wrecka, Sonny Landreth, The Low Anthem, The Folk Brothers, Tom Rush, Tony Trischka, Wissahickon Chicken Shack, Women in Docs, Works Progress Administration, Zach Djanikian

    http://www.pfs.org/PFF.php

  57. Well I guess that bodes well for V Fest Toronto.

  58. its the Regina Folk Festival I was thinking of…it should be added

  59. Edmonton Folk Music Festival has confirmed some bands…on their website under, news

    Nov 7 & 8

  65. Eagles of Death Metal have been added to Osheaga.

  66. Not bad. BSS and Beach House should be good, and I guess it means there will be festivals on Toronto Island this summer. Still though, I need some news on V Fest.

  67. Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, MSTRKRFT, Fever Ray, Jarvis Cocker, Ghostland Observatory are playing Treasure Island in San Francisco.

  68. Hey Adam & Debaser…what do you think of the Broken Social Scene Olympic Island line-up?

  72. looks like Arcade Fire’s website is no more….

    http://www.arcadefire.com/

I wonder what the hell is going down with these guys…. i need a tour from them

  73. Looks like they might move V to Merriweather Post Pavilion. That seems like enough to put Animal Collective in the “Rumored” list… http://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/stories/2009/03/30/daily58.html

  74. what sucks the most about not knowing is that i’d like to be planning a trip to another festival this summer if vfest isn’t happening.

i’m sure there are many others in the same boat as well who would like to plan ahead, especially since the dates and line ups have already been announced for the majority of the major festivals.

  75. http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/midnight_sun/blog/2009/04/will_the_virgin_mobile_festiva.html

Will the Virgin Mobile Festival return this year?

It’s a good question. And as of right now, I don’t know the answer.

In fact, the future of Pimlico and the Preakness is up in the air.

Yesterday, I e-mailed Virgin Mobile Festival publicist Audrey Fix Schaefer, who said there is “no news to report.”

That doesn’t bode well for the festival …

By now, pretty much all of the other major summer music festivals have announced their lineups. Even the roster for the V Festival in England has gone public, and tickets are on sale.

But Virgin Mobile Festival promoter Seth Hurwitz has kept mum about the future of the annual Baltimore event. And I can’t say I blame him. Who books a festival at a venue that could be torn down in six months?

If it were to happen, this would be the Virgin Mobile Festival’s fourth year at Pimlico. And though attendance has slumped the past couple of years, Hurwitz has been happy with the festival.

Still, the longer we wait for an announcement, the less likely the festival will come back to Baltimore.

  76. buggers, i’ve tried a few times too.

  77. Debaser, I’ve e-mailed that adress a couple times. They’ve never responded.

  78. yep, osheaga is only in montreal.

  79. does osheaga only happen in montreal?

  80. E-mail sent.

  81. let’s get this shit rollin’ already!

    festival@virginmobile.ca

  82. I don’t know if you wanna add it, but here’s another small festival in PA, Potluck Festival.

    http://www.ilovechurchmusic.com/potluck.html

    It’s not church music, btw.
