  1. It’s been great having this one site to go for all festival news, but I’m BUMMED about your new festival page(s) format. On your old format, I loved being able to see all bands for all festivals listed on one page, so I could easily see/search favorite bands to find out what festivals they’ll be playing, and easily compare lineups of different festivals. Now I have to click separately on all these dozens of festival links to see who is playing there….boo!

I know the old page was long, but I sure didn’t mind. Could you please still offer one consolidated festivals/lineups page as before? That could be in addition to the new separate pages per festival, where people can go for more info on each festival.

Thanks for considering, and in any event, please keep up the great festival info!

  2. Oh my! Nice and spiffy! Moving in the right direction! Things are alittle broken… Some links do not work. First 3 festivals didnt work. Alex, nice step up. Recomendation: reduce font size!

  3. Yeah man, I like what you’ve done. But not to be an asshole or anything, but this fucking font is maaaahhhhssssiiiiiive bra. It’s kind of blowing up my spot at work.

  4. Really Liking it. This will make it so much easier to literally cover ever festival… EVER. haha. Good job.

  5. Hey guys,

I’ll try to add a full page once everything is fixed in terms of hosting and servers.

    Thanks for the comments!

  6. Alright Alex! We have ignition and Liftoff! The site looks great now that your server company fixed latency. I think that might have been the Font issue, but whatever it was… It’s good news now. Really Really stoked you threw Vegoose on the lookout. Do you know if it may escalate to a 3 day fest? I sure hope so! Last year was so much fun!

And to all those people out there who are wondering if it is worth a trip out to Vegas… you can BET it is! Here’s pics and a blog from Last year’s show. I’m the guy dressed as a Beer Keg. And if you plan on coming to the show, costumes are a MUST!!

    http://blogs.lasvegasweekly.com/vegoose/

  7. Add Osheaga to the Canadian list. Gogol Bordello’s website claims that they are playing it on August 4th which is a Monday. Guess it is going Aug 2 through 4 this year?

  8. Can’t really say I’m pleased with the new changes, although i think some of the things are bugs. Like for some reason each page starts with this massive blank space that i ahve to scroll through, and the font size is SO INCREDIBLY HUGE! not good.

I liked this site because it was very easy to just stop by for a minute and quickly glance over things and check out the new news. Now with all the weird spacing issues and the font being insanely huge, that’s not really possible. I’m hoping that things will get fixed because instead of making things more organized, they now look much less organized.

  9. I agree with Charile, add Osheaga. But I doubt it will be August 2-4 this year. It has always been 2 days, not 3.

  10. I think the page view problems are only on Windows IE…looks fine on mac/safari. They’ll get it worked out. :)

  11. Hey folks,

Thanks for the comments. As another poster mentioned, the problems seem to exist when viewing the site using internet explorer. Other browsers seem to work fine for viewing the site. I’ve been using Firefox, which can be downloaded for free and only takes a minute or two to set up. Here’s a link:

    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Thanks for reading and hopefully you’re able to view the site at its best. The bosses have it looking really sharp.

    take care,
    matt

  12. Hey, as a side note, good call on posting that review about the band Magic Magic last week. Those dude’s are sick! I’ve seen them around the Boston area a bunch of times over the past year and they absolutely rip it.

If any of you missed the article, check it oooouuuut and check out their MySpeezy page…

    http://www.myspace.com/magicmagicband

See, I’m not always an asshole.

  13. nice job on the new look
the front page looks ALOT better
the layout for the festival page is better…..i wont say its the best, but better.

  14. Hey, glad to see you add Osheaga, but it is not in September this year. Gogol Bordello has confirmed they will be there on August 4.

  15. Sweet you guys fixed the site so that it works for internet explorer! Mad props to you guys and now I’m digging the new look.

  16. (Copied question from the Talk Back! forum…)

Has anyone heard whether or not The Bang Music Festival (which usually took place in Miami Fl) is happening this year?

The website still says it is, but I was wondering if anyone had heard any confirmation.

It was single day festival in 2005, and 2006, and the lineup was pretty big in 06. Daft Punk, Duran Duran, Tiesto, Gnarls Barkley, Modest Mouse, and many others.

It was planned to be turned into a two day festival in 07, and it was announced that Smashing Pumpkins and Kanye would be headlining, but then it was randomly canceled for some reason.

    heres the website…

    http://bangmusicfestival.com/

Which still says the festival is happening, but It still doesn’t look at that convincing to me.

    thoughts?

  17. Hey James,

I actually researched into Bang! over the weekend. Haven’t found anything, but then again it looks like it will take place sometime in November so we are a long ways away.

  18. Subpop’s 20th Anniversary Festival

    * The festival will officially take place July 12 & 13 at the 640-acre Marymoor Park in Redmond, with performances going both day and night
    * Bands performing will cover the history of the label’s roster, including two reunion performances. One will be the much-ballyhooed return of Green River. The second, according to this recent news story from the Denver Post, will be the Fluid, Sub Pop’s first non-local signing from way back in 1985.
    * There will likely be a Sub Pop comedy night at a yet-to-be-named venue separate from the music festivities.
    * There could possibly also be some shows at clubs around Seattle leading up to the festivities, though details on this were very vague.

    http://www.seattlesoundmag.com/2008/04/sps-20th-anniversary-details-revealed/

  19. Pretty fucking lame that Lollapalooza drops literally the greatest concert ever after I bought a ticket to APW, which is going to be a dry concert apparently.

  20. You really have to update the new lineup from Werchter festival:

Pyramid Marquee: Patrick Watson, Ben Folds, Duffy, Zita Swoon, Hot Chip, Digitalism

    Day 3, 5th July 2008

The Blackbox Revelation has also been confirmed, but hasn’t yet been placed in the lineup.

+ Vampire Weekend (Thursday 3th july), Monza, Cool Kids, My Morning Jacket (Friday 4 july), Gnarls Barkley (Saturday 5 july), Panic At The Disco, DeVotchKa en The Raconteurs (Sunday 6 july).

  21. Ax if you publish this on the first page of CoS, could you mention my name :p

  22. Who gives a conniving cunt about a fucking festival in Belgium anyways? Although the lineup looks good and all, does anyone really give a devastating dickrash? Certainly not the Asshole, that’s for sure…

Can we drink at All Points West by the way, and are more bands going to be added?

  23. Hey ahole, Just Craigslist or eBay your APW tick and go to Lollapalooza. Last year I decided to move my Saturday VirginFest ticket through CL and ended up buying a 2 day ticket a couple hours later. Noone is stuck with a ticket anymore in the information age. Lolla looks f-ing awesome. Love and Rockets should be interesting. Hopefully some of that spills into the Virginfest in Bmore which right now looks underwhelming.

  24. Alex, might wanna look into this awesome philly festival:
2008 Paul Green School of Rock Festival Fact Sheet

    Overview:

The Paul Green School of Rock-the original performance-based after-school rock music program in the country-will kick off the biggest event of the year with its second annual music festival. The Paul Green School of Rock Music Festival (SORFest), is set for June 27-29 in the city of brotherly love and rock and roll hot spot, Philadelphia, PA.

SORFest features three days of the best rock music including performances by Devo, The Hold Steady, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Dropkick Murphys, and the School of Rock All Stars, among others. It is the latest opportunity for the students of the School of Rock to hone their performance skills and learn from the masters.

“Having our own festival allows us to bring in main stage national acts to inspire our students, get the kids from our schools around the country up on the side stages to play the greatest music ever made and provide slots for original bands comprised of our students and staff, as well as up-and-coming bands we want to support,” says Paul Green.

    Details:

    · The Paul Green School of Rock’s second annual Festival will kick off Friday, June 27th through Sunday, June 29th at the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing and the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA

    · Paul Green School of Rock bands from 30 schools across the country will perform a variety of rock shows over three days

    · Headliners include national touring acts: DEVO, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Drop Kick Murphys and The Hold Steady.

    One additional headliner TBA

    · 600 School of Rock students will converge from across the country to perform on five side stages and one main stage

    · 30,000 spectators are expected in attendance over the course of the weekend

    · Tickets for all 3 shows go on sale Saturday, March 22nd at 10am.

    · Uwishunu.com will host an exclusive pre-sale beginning Wednesday, March 19th at 10am and running thru Friday, March 21st at 10am. In addition uwishunu will host exclusive announcements, and contests, including a “golden ticket’ which enters guests into all of the events

    · Pictures, Videos and Audio clips from the 2007 School of Rock Festival can be found at http://www.schoolofrock.com/festival

  25. ocko, where did you find that info? i would really like to go since i cant see MMB at bamboozle this year. and devo.

  26. That info is taken from weens message boards. Theres have been many rumors about devo at the festival and all the details should be announced soon. It’s gonna be a good weekend.

  27. ::delayed response::

Thanks for the info. I’ll keep my fingers crossed, seeing as I am going to school in Orlando next year, I am really hopping they have it again. Perhaps I can head down there for the weekend.

  28. Mighty Mighty Bosstones suck.

  29. Consequence of Sound needs to add the Pukkelpop listing…. Metallica are confirmed as one of the headliners.

  30. I’m goingto pukkelpop, but that’s the only confirmed band

  31. Vampire Weekend are confirmed to play Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle

July 25+26th. The first announcement will be Tuesday but take a look at their myspace top friends if you want a pretty full list of who’s playing

  32. Hey, jam on the river link is not working. Like the new site by the way!

  33. Allman Brothers canceled for Bonnaroo–big announcement coming on Thursday, per the ‘Roo website. (Likely a replacement artist.)

  34. some of the chicago blues festival stuff is out. if you were considering putting that up also.

  35. Heard on the radio this morning that Widespread Panic is filling the Allman Brothers spot at Bonnaroo….

  36. http://www.virginradio.co.uk/music/festivals/coachella/index.html

according to the above article, Pink Floyd will be at Coachella 2008.

Take it however you want it.

  37. According to the above article, The Dark Side of the Moon show will be as good as last year’s set by Rage Against the Machine, that’s all. It doesn’t say shit about Pink Floyd playing Coachella bra, now pull your head out of your ass and quit harshing my mellow.

You’re a fuckin idiot, take it however you want it.

  38. Ottawa Bluesfest posted their lineup and times.

    http://www.ottawabluesfest.ca/en/index.php?page=scheduled_performers

its pretty huge and eclectic, as expected

  39. dude this lineup sucks right now, where are all the indie bands like the last two years, hopefully they announce some pretty good bands.

  40. Please don’t ignore the biggest punk blues festival in the world. Deep Blues Festival, 45 bands, July 18-20, Minneapolis/St Paul MN, plus a film festival.

    http://www.deepbluesfestival.com

    http://www.myspace.com/deepbluesfestival

  41. CA, the article I posted did mention it. It was edited about 24 hours after I posted that due to questions coming from the coachella message boards.

    Relax a bit.

  42. The full Virgin Mobile Festival lineup has been announced. It’s too all over the place for me. Last years lineup was much better imo.

  43. Matt, I’m as relaxed as a freshly satisfied vagina, pal. I’m just saying, before you start delivering statements like that, make sure that they don’t come up lame…like yo dick!

  44. you guys should do a post about the hardly strictly bluegrass festival in san francisco. they just announced that robert plant and alison krauss are headlining. plus gogol bordello and bonnie price billy to name a few others. best of all its free.

  45. Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince / Will Smith Tour Summer 2008!
The first concert details are in!

June 10: Sydney’s Hoyts Entertainment Quarter - Sydney, Australia - Hancock Premiere

June 18: Leicester Square - London, UK - Hancock Premiere

June 27: Hyde Park - London, UK - Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday Celebration

Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince are touring the world in June and July of 2008. Countries they may be visiting may include Australia, India, China, Canada & England.

Will said this at a recent press conference: “We’re going to go out big in July,” Smith, who gained fame as the “Fresh Prince” with Townes, told reporters in a news conference in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Nov. 30. “We are figuring out some places around the world to do some big shows. It’s about to be that circle back to the golden age of hip-hop. There is starting to be a little resurgence, so yeah, we are planning some things. … It will probably go out with Hancock and do performances with premieres around the world.”

He said this in London: MTV News’ Rickie sat down for a chat with the big man before the London premiere of ‘I Am Legend’, he revealed that he hasn’t given up on music:

“I’ll probably just tour with the old material, but I’ll definitely have a concert here in June as that’s when my next film (Hancock) is coming out so I’ll connect the tour to the premieres”

and this: Smith confirmed: “I probably won’t create any new music but I will be on tour with my old music, not my old music, sorry - my classic songs - later next year.”

Come back here for all the concert details! Also check the forum for the latest.

  46. Wow, this section is really sucking pretty hard ever since people started getting amped up about the Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff reunion huh?

  47. yeasayer are playing lots of festivals, including 2 i know that arent listed

both of the Download Festivals in Mountain View, CA and Universal City, CA

    http://www.myspace.com/yeasayer

  48. are you not panning on putting d-fest on your festival outlook? it has a better lineup than some of these other shitty festys

  49. true that, Oklahoma is also a pretty kickass place to visit. i have seen some awesome shows at their zoo amphitheatre and i would put it in the top 10 amphitheatres around. its a fucking venue in a zoo man, it doesnt get much cooler

  50. Whaaaaaaaaaat? Are you kidding me? That Dfest looks like the pussiest thing going right now! All American Rejects? Jesus Christ, those dudes are dick-meltingly gay. Ghostland Observatory, thanks but no thanks. “Dude, Ghostland is soooo original and trippy brooooo” “Fahk off,” cried the Captain.

I can’t even believe you guys got my so excited to check out who’s playing the D-bag fest.

You see what I did there? I changed it from Dfest, to D-bag fest! Hahaha, oh Captain, how do you get so witty?

  51. and by the way, I am a total tool

  52. Hey Caotain Asshole, do you know what a “Caotain” actually is? It’s someone who farts in their bathtub and then bites the bubbles. Also sometimes referred to as a Fonzanoon. So at least you got that going for you…which is nice.

So why don’t you keep jerking off to the shitty emo bands playing Dfest and look at your keyboard when you type you fuckin slimy caotain. That way, when you try to counter-strike the Captain’s comments, you won’t look like such a flaming idiot.

  53. You’re right Captain, my bad. I’m just gonna go take a bath and listen to the latest Plain White T’s album I guess.

  54. any word on seattle’s Endfest? this one day fest usually packs a great line up.

  55. hey, it doesn’t appear that you have the electric daisy carnivals on here, there’s one in Colorado and one in Los Angeles both this month…pretty good electronic music festivals with acts such as moby, paul van dyk, christopher lawrence, rabbit in the moon, kaskade and quite a few others. http://www.electricdaisycarnival.com for the info

  56. Man are you … blind???
    LOOK AGAIN!!!

    :)

  57. Did someone sneak that in there? Cause now I freaking see it…

My bad if it was always there

  58. Now I’m know I’m not crazy about this one not being listed…

Purple Door Music and Arts Festival
    August 15th and 16th
    Ski Roundtop, Lewisberry, PA
    http://www.purpledoor.com

  59. Terry, nice name ya fuckin puss. Easy on the promotion of shitty festivals kid.

  60. Ohh yes…finally, I get the privilege of feeling the wrath of the apparently legendary Captain Asshole…I knew it would only be a matter of time…

Truthfully, I’m not trying promote any festivals…shitty or not…I figured if this site was to be collection of summer festivals, I would provide any that were missing. Though I’m not personally a fan of the bands at Purple Door, never been to the festival, nor relate to the christian scene whatsoever, perhaps there are readers of this site that are…

…and last time I checked, this site wasn’t called Captain Asshole’s Festival Outlook, so chill out on your idiotic comments about every festival you don’t have the privilege of attending…you clearly are just looking for attention, and this will be the only time i entertain your desperate need…by the way, have fun at your lame APW…I won’t be seeing you at Lolla thankfully

  61. Terry, touche my friend, I’m glad you could get that off your chest. I feel privileged that you are referring to me as a legend, when in fact I am merely an average male who takes time out of his normal work day of marketing for an IT company to shake up the message boards on this crazy roller coaster we call…the internet. I’m what we like to call a “Message-Board Mercenary.” Somewhat of a “Blog Bandito” if you will.

As for looking for attention, well, you bet your shitty-festival-liking ass that I’m looking for attention! Why else would I be doing this? I’m entertaining myself, and hopefully, entertaining others. What would the Real World be without Puck?! Nothing, right? Completely lame and not entertaining. Well I’m the Puck of this Message Board, a’iight?

And you’re correct, this site isn’t called, Captain Asshole’s Festival Outlook. However, as I said before, I do marketing for an IT company and for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purposes this site probably should be called Captain Asshole’s Festival Outlook. It would garner much more attention when people search for “festival” in Google. If you had the option, what would you rather click on: “Festival Outlook” or “Captain Asshole’s Festival Outlook?” I’d say rhe latter.

By the way Terry, I will have fun at lame-ass APW. I’ll be tripping my fuckin ass off listening to 2-nights of Radiohead. I cut out the fat my friend, I don’t need to see a million other bands put on a 45 minute show that promotes their shitty new album. Nope, I see complete sets by outstanding bands like Kings of Leon, Go Team, Animal Collective and the aforementioned Radiohead…twiiiiiiice.

So yeah, I’m pretty amped that I don’t have to see your sweaty ass at Lollapalooza either. I hope it rains in Chi-town that weekend. In the meantime, I’ll be in NYC, throwing caution to the wind while hitting on some hotties from the city as I pound beer (the beer permits were approved), chow some boomers and drop ecstasy to the sweet sounds of Radiohead…2 Nights in a row.

Bottom line Terry, go fuck yourself.

  62. Ohh, I just can’t help not responding…

Captain Gayhole….I seem to remember you cumming over Lollapalooza’s lineup…

“Pretty fucking lame that Lollapalooza drops literally the greatest concert ever after I bought a ticket to APW” I believe was your statement and I remember feeling the slightest bit of pity for you.

But, anyways, have fun on your bad trip recalling how jealous you are that you’re not me. Truthfully, I’m pretty disappointed that the worst you can come up with is to wish for rain while I’m at Lolla. I expected something much more vile and biting from you.

And while yes, we can agree those few bands you will see are pretty damn good, they are also practically the only four bands worth seeing…Two of which will be at Lolla. $65 per good band just doesn’t add up when you can pay less than $10 per good band at Lolla. Suck on them apples. Though if you want to make APW more worth it, don’t miss Girl Talk, whom, guess what, is also at Lolla. Man, I’m telling you, the Lolla line-up is pretty sweet.

As for Radiohead, with Lolla, I’ll have seen them three times this summer, since you seem to want to make this about who is more hip or musically cultured. So I couldn’t care less that you get to see them two nights in a row.

And ohh yes…all of your loyal fans commend you on making the internet a better place one flaming post at a time.

  63. Terry Terry Terry, by no means am I trying to come off more musically inclined than the next guy by saying I’m seeing Radiohead 2 nights in a row. What I’m getting at with that is I would pay $80 per ticket to strictly just see those guys alone. And 2 nights, with 2 FULL sets, I’m going to certainly get my money’s worth. Throw some mushrooms in there and you’re unstoppable.

Although Lolla certainly does have a dick-meltingly amazing lineup, I’m content with APW. There are hotter chicks in NYC and better drugs. Hot Chicks + Drugs = Sexual Enlightenment. Also, the scenary and the view of NYC is well worth it. Are you saying you don’t like the view of NYC? What are you a terrorist? Guys…Terry’s a terrorist. (Sick band name by the way, I call it!) Also, way to quote me word-for-word Rain Man. And I saw Girl Talk before (totally 2006 by the way)…he was alright, nothing special…

I apologize that I didn’t come back firing with anything harsher than I hope it rains at Lollapalooza. Sorry that I don’t actually want you to die or anything. If you want, I can make fun of how shitty the name Terry is. Is that something that would pump your gnads?

But seriously, c’mon Ter, lighten up, this is all in good fun. Just a little jabbing at each other to get the blood flowing — makes you feel aliiiiive, doesn’t it? I’m glad you’re spicing this board up a bit, it’s always fun anonymously shitting on people.

Overall, I hope it really does rain at Lollapalooza — I can’t let my guard down. And you really need to stop making me click my mouse and freeze up my computer to see an awful festival that might actually get me excited.

    HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND EVERYONE!

  64. Captain,

Ohh believe me, I’ve been having a blast today and I appreciate you making my friday fly by. I have no true hard feelings towards you besides my already substantial hatred for you.

I agree with you that your formula would be a pretty optimal experience regardless of the line-up or occasion, so there’s certainly one thing you’ll likely have on me. I’m sure we’ll have nearly equal experiences at our respective festivals and afterwards we’ll have to have a verbal duking it out about who’s was best.

If you wish to use my name, I’m sure there’s little you can say that I’ve not heard and I can’t imagine it’d bother me much anyways. I pretty much hate my name. But if you think you can surprise me with something, it’ll give you something to work on over the weekend/Monday. Though I pity any child who’s parents named them Captain Asshole.

You have a good weekend, Cap’n

  65. you guys should get a fucking room.

  66. Oh should we Anonymous? I know, that would be much more feasible for us to converse and argue, wouldn’t it? You should rot in hell you fuckin puss.

But before you rot in hell, you should Anonymously get a room for yourself and if you’re of the male species, you should cut your balls of with a rusty spork. But if you’re a female, maybe you should just take a dirty steak knife, and stick it blade up the vaginal cavity. That would be sick actually. Remember though, you want to remain Anonmymous when you’re performing these actions.

Whatever option you choose, you won’t be able to reproduce anymore Anonymous shitheads like yourself.
