  1. adds = meh…..

  2. APW just added Rye Rye, Trail of Dead, Honey Brothers, Xavier Rudd & La Roux to the line up

  3. there hasn’t been much buzz since the lineup. only yelle dropping. are we gonna see any noticeable adds this year? last year trey and grizzly bear were both late.

  4. BLUR BLUR BLUR!!!!!!!

  5. Site states over “65 acts” to appear. Only 59 are listed.

  6. i don’t know about additions but last year they had about 15-16 acts each day so i guess everyone who’ll be there is already on the poster

  7. Did they add any bands after the initial announcement last year?

  8. I know Trey was a late edition last year

  9. are you saying Blur is still a possibility?

  10. wait

    for

    it

  11. Per his request, please refer back to insider’s time-stamped post (3/5, 4:43pm) now that the lineup has been released.

  12. password = WRXP

  13. Anyone have pre-sale codes? Please share! :)

  14. I want to go to there.

  15. Wow, this is by far the best lineup of any festival yet this year. If only it wasn’t so expensive/far away, I would definitely be there.

  16. Incredible lineup. I may have to go this.

  17. i wonder how many of these bands will end up on the osheago bill in montreal?

  18. This Line up is awesome!!!!!, i am going, and scratching my plans for Lolla

  19. beastie boys seems possible, that would be cool coldplay/beastie boys/tool and im really hoping for a new layout this year, hopefully involving a stage strictly for dance a la the sahara tent at coachella. underworld during the day was a buzzkill for me.

  20. what about Beastie Boys as third headliner?

  21. I will be there the day Pixies play, if they do in fact play.

  22. Pixies/Tool/Coldplay = Swoon

  23. @ Anon 9:39pm

Shot in the dark or who the fuck told you.

  24. Please let it be the Pixies!

  25. Dave Matthews is already playing the NYC area twice in April and has shows booked in Indiana on 7/31 and 8/1 (although the next date on 8/4 is in Syracuse, NY). I think Coldplay and Tool are locks but I’m not sure what to expect for the third spot. I keep going back to Ed O’Brien hinting at limited Radiohead summer shows but that’s probably wishful thinking.

  26. I have a bad feeling that the third headliner is Dave Matthews…

  27. ^
which sucks since I would have gone for Bjork and Tom Waits. Since Tool is hitting Mile High it makes no sense for me to travel again.

  28. Bjork and Tom Waits are not playing. Coldplay and Tool are.

    +-x÷

  29. We want Bjork AND Tool!

  30. announcement monday

    http://twitter.com/allpointswest

  31. We want Tool!

  32. We want Björk!

  33. Does anyone know when tickets go on sale?

  34. Does anyone know when tickets go onsale?

  35. nope still no buzz on APW, everyone is VERY cautious.

  36. Finally! A buzz on APW

  37. Is Bjork rumored simply because APW was following her on twitter or is there more to the rumor. Any information would be appreciated.

  38. The combination of Bjork and Tool as headliners alone would give APW the best lineup of the year.

  39. Also, if Tom Waits, Bjork, Tool, and Coldplay are the headliners, I might just go this year.

  40. Carl, it looks like they’re also doing Mile High.

  41. Yeah, sorry about that.

  42. By the way, did you mean to put Tool in the “Latest Updates” heading or the “confirmed” heading? If it’s the latter, you can remove them from the “rumored” section.

  43. When I first heard Lolla was getting Tool, I thought, “Holy Cow, how in the world did they convince them to do a one-off show!?” Then, I heard Tool was doing a short summer tour and thought, “Well, it won’t be as special, but at least it’ll be the only festival they play.” Now, it’s possible they’ll play APW the weekend before?! Oh well, at least I’ll get to see them this time around. I was just hoping it would be bigger bragging rights for Lolla.

  44. thanks alex, now i can start saving up! by the way, i think you’re really cute and smart, and i’d like bore you a child! xoxo

  45. Dates come from this week’s issue of Rolling Stone. Page 15.

  46. Alex Young, can you let us know where you got the word about the dates? The troll two posts above seems like he’s just leading us on.

  47. Google news and Google blog search has no mention of the dates. Can anyone link to this mysterious press release? Or come up with the actual source?

  48. If you do a news search, you’ll find the press release for the dates through the AP wires. Also I’ve too heard the Tool headliner rumor among these other acts:

    Sonic Youth
    Mastodon
    Interpol
    Royksopp
    The National
    Yeah Yeah Yeahs
    Band of Horses
    Santigold
    Phoenix
    Glasvegas
    Passion Pit
    Matt & Kim
    Dirty Projectors
    Atmosphere
    No Age
    Marissa Nadler
    Chairlift
    Buraka Som Sistema
    Amadou & Miriam
    Wale
    Dan Deacon

  49. 1 where did the dates come from?
2 I’d kill to see tool at apw, seems plausible. Their show at AC in 07 blew my mind

  50. Wait is this legit happening? I can’t find anything about another APW Fest anywhere except for this website.

  51. Blur and possibly Bjork are out, but Tool is in.

  52. Tool is headlining APW.

  53. Fresh Meadows would be an awesome venue for APW

  54. whoops you’re wrong

  55. ^ WTF?! YOU SUCK!! First of all, what was wrong with the bathrooms? APW had standard “porto-o-potties” and a ton of them; I didn’t notice any lines. The ATMs worked just fine..bring cash if you don’t want to stand in line at an ATM. The ferry was only $20 round-trip and you DID have the option of taking the subway. Oh, and Flushing Meadows?!..seriously?..you apparently fail to grasp the theme and the importance of the location to APW. As for the beer related complaints, it’s the same way at many large festivals..you can always do drugs instead.

  56. APW SUCKED!! Great Line up of bands, but HORRIBLE, I mean HORRIBLE execution. The layout, gates, “beer prisons”, ticket systems (for beer), ferry charges, bathrooms, ATMs, etc etc all need a lot of work. They should have it at Flushing Meadows next year that would be a great venue with all the infrastructure set up from trains to food…anything but Liberty

  57. Thanks Zatzbatz, people just like to whine.

  58. People are nuts. I spent 60 bucks just to see Radiohead in West Palm Beach last year. APW was 100 bucks. The New Pornographers had a weak set, but they are an amazing band. Andrew Bird and Grizzly Bear were really good, I got to finally see Underworld live and Girl Talk had what I thought was the best set of the night. And after it, I got to see RADIOHEAD with the sunset on the manhattan skyline. Best bang for 100 bucks EVER. I agree about the transportation and disoragnization nightmares, but I would go again in a second.

  59. teamcoachella… i guess it just depended on which line you ended up in, cause the frisking i got on Friday was pretty much just short of a cavity search

  60. last year on Friday it was very chill with the frisk…but Saturday was much more strict…

  61. how about the strict frisking when we enter the festival? i didn’t enjoy having to plan ahead like that. no other festivals i’ve been to were so tight on security

  62. cats, can you give a list of the bands schedule to be there? And when do tickets go on sale? Line up release date?

  63. Yes to Bjork and Coldplay. Tom Waits is a no, but Blur is in as a headliner. A lot of the obvious bands that are playing every festival will be there, but no Grizzly Bear or Animal Collective.

Jarvis Cocker will likely be doing an exclusive American performance on the Blue Comet stage two acts before Blur, but it is not finalized yet.

    M83 is in.

Beer cages and forced alcohol limits will be returning, as required by the state of New Jersey, but the setup will be more comfortable and accommodating to drinkers that want to watch the main stage acts.

  64. ^ please refer back to my time-stamped post after the lineup is released..kthxbi!

  65. Sweet. Blur! And it was posted by an insider so it must be legit.

  66. Blur

  67. Osheaga in Montreal just announced their dates and it is Aug 1-2. Adds a bit of hope for those of us that are not excited by the prospect of Coldplay at APW. Between this show and the possibility of Virgin in Baltimore being on that weekend, it is looking like less of a lock that APW will be saddled with Coldplay.

  68. Is all points music festival happening this year???? And if so when, does anyone know!!!! Thanks

  69. they really need to get the best second tier from coach and roo if it is gonna be worth the ticket price. if they could afford radiohead two nights last year (albeit with a lack of intensity) they should be able to fork up some moneys.

plus, i hate the lollapalooza lineup already. so pleaseeee give me something to see.

oh and are they gonna lighten up security? i mean, honestly. last year was absurd compared to other festivals. they need other people to run the show.

  70. Well in addition to the lack of quality, there is the objective lack of rareness in all the APW acts except for Underworld. Portishead? Verve? Those are rare.

  71. I loved APW and plan to return if Bjork plays.

  72. if Tom Waits plays. i go

  73. Cats, I think the previous commenters were debating relevance and not quality. Hence, calling them openers instead of crap. Your way is a bit too subjective. Not every small fest can be special.

And, umm, I like Kings Of Leon (slinks away).

  74. Most of those acts you listed are not special. Kings of Leon are fucking terrible, Underworld is the least fun of the big edm acts, and Girl Talk is just a coked-out retard jumping up and down in his underwear while pretending to use his laptop while chubby hipster girls poorly dance around in purple American Appalling leggings.

  75. I’m in the minority that prefers a smaller festival. I’d rather have a well booked smaller show that allows you to see a majority of the acts (and from a decent spot) than have to fight through 60,000 people in a desert.

As far as the idea that these were “Radiohead” shows, you got Underworld (rare appearance), Girl Talk (sold out Terminal 5 multiple nights, and KoL (sold out MSG), Andrew Bird (headlining Radio City), Animal Collective (sold out terminal 5), etc, etc. People are WAY too entitled as to what constitutes value for a festival.

I had a few gripes as well. The first few acts of each day were atrocious bar bands that I’d never heard of and Sunday was worthless. But if this year is at the same level as Friday and Saturday of 08, they have my money again.

  76. This festival was waaaaaaaay over priced!

Basically just RH shows (as everyone has said)

Didn’t bother with day 3 as it was craptastic.

  77. 1. Waits ain’t playing a festival let alone this one.
    2. APW will be lucky if it happens this year.
    3. APW has a lot of fixing to do to improve over a lackluster Radiohead show
    4. I doubt AEG/GV made money on APW last year.
    5. Rumors are rumors… but if Coldplay or Bjork fail to play, expect APW to go the way of the dodo.
    6. Still too many festivals, might see a shakedown that includes no APW, if not 09 then 2010.

  78. I agree with Brandon… last year ended up being a 2 day radiohead show with some solid openers, definitely not a “festival.” I enjoyed the smaller feel of it and getting to be a lot closer for Radiohead than I was at lolla, and getting underworld as an opener to boot… but everything was ridiculously overpriced, a slice of pizza was like 5 bucks, as were bottles of water or sodas… was 9 bucks for a cheap american beer, and they penned you into a “beergarden” (read, a small plastic pen) to drink them… the tickets were also way overpriced, there was little incentive to buy a 3 day pass over one day passes (a savings of 9 bucks total), and on top of the expensive ticket price they charged another 20-30 bucks a day for the “scenic” ferry ride to get there.

Im happy lolla’s lineup ended up so great last year, cause I contemplated skipping my annual chicago trip for this “festival” in my backyard… instead I ended up just going to APW on Friday, and that was more than enough for me. I really don’t see making it back again without a major overhaul, even if it is with Bjork and/or Tom Waits

  79. Bjork, Coldplay, Tom Waits are, in fact, headlining. Also playing: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Jarvis Cocker, Grizzly Bear, Jenny Lewis.

  80. why is that brandon?

  81. last year blew I live minutes away am in no way planning on going to this it is a rip off and could be a great weekend but NJ can never get it right

  82. I say Tool will play this in addition to Lolla…
    Just sayin’

  83. No…they don’t tour arenas. But a one-off in NYC would be a big deal.

  84. chi - bjork or tom waits HAVE no problems filling venues….they just don’t play arenas like coldplay.

  85. that is what I am thinking.

  86. So it would be the weekend before Lollapalooza?

  87. no dates yet..but the thought is a week earlier because lolla is on the same weekend that apw had last year..

  88. When is this festival going to be? Why can’t I find out any information on it?

  89. nick, you didn’t go last year even with the 2 nights of Radiohead?

  90. now i have to compare this lineup to the lolla lineup and decided. if APW get their act together for this year (which hopefully they did) ill probably go for it. it also helps that i live less than 30 minutes away :D

  91. I wholeheartly agree with you Chi….this will sell out if those are the headliners….and yes Tom Waits CAN headline a festival. Especially in the NYC area. And remember the max per day at this festival is only 35K. Compare that to 80k at Bonnaroo, 75k at Loll and 65k at Coachella.

  92. See my above post.

  93. You think Tom Waits can headline a day at APW? I see him more as a sub headliner.

  94. Too hard?

No way…Coldplay, despite the blogosphere’s opinion of them…are a huge mainstream act. If you throw that on top of the indie cred of Tom Waits and Bjork you are going to have a successful fest. It kind of looks like the format from last year when you had two nights of Radiohead and then Jack Johnson…you can sell to two different demographics…and since you are in the heart of one of the biggest cities in the world you can just concentrate on selling out each individual days as opposed to fests like Bonnaroo where you are selling three day passes.

Also…Tom Waits and Bjork would be huge headliners for two hipster-friendly days. Waits rarely performs live and Bjork, as far as I can tell, has no plans for an American tour this year. In other parts of the country, these headliners may have difficulty selling out a venue, but with the millions of people in NYC this should easily be sufficient.

  95. those would probably be the headliners. Consider APW is much smaller then the major festivals , it shouldn’t be too hard to sell a weekend like that.

  96. I could see a night of
    Bjork
    Coldplay
    Tom Waits.

That would be one hell of a line-up.

  97. from the twitter and the gap in Coldplay’s dates.

  98. Where did these rumors come from?
