yeah yeah yeahs!!!!!!!!!!!! OLD 97’s!!!!!!!!!!! awesome awesome awesome
looks like all the good rumours are dead w/ SDRE and PJ both playing other shows in the area. I’m not sure if there is anything left that can really make this a great line up. I guess I’ll have to take the trip to Outside Lands for real headliners.
And, with the announcement of the SDRE show in October, I guess that rumor of them at B’Shoot is dead …I wonder how tix are selling for them this year with this lineup…
Band of Horses will probably be there. They are in the PNW that week and don’t have any Seattle dates yet.
Looks like my wishes will not be coming true. I have to say I am a little disapointed with the posted headliners, but the list of undercard acts is great and is getting better. I get two three day passes for my B-day every year, thanks mom. Im still crossing my fingers for PJ in Key Arena, because Jason mras is barely a subhead, how could he get the top headlining spot? I am stoked to see Soulsaver, Dead Confederate and Low vs. Diamond (which I heard first here) I also missed the Knux at Sasquatch!. You need to remove Isobele Campbell & Mark Lanegan.
Ear Candy has Sunny Day Real Estate as a rumor:

Awesome!
Josh, I hope that you are right with your Beasties and PJ thoughts. How does it work with bands that are playing Outside Lands? Can or have they shared headliners before? Dead Weather would be great as well. Any of these adds would be sweet, since I already bought the cheapo tickets.
Not true last year day 1 was Beck and Band of Horses, day 2 was STP and The Black Keys and day 3 was Death Cab For Cutie. T I played middle of the day with Kiesha Coles on the main stage, bands like Paramore and Lucinda Williams also played day sets on the main. I remember as a kid the put the mainstage acts inside Key Arena not at the memorial Stadium, so that is a possibility for a band like PJ. Bumbershoot over the last few years have been making efforts to become one of the US major festivals, you can see evidence of this by the planned revamping of the Seattle Center grounds that will have a multi terraced lawn area that could handle crowds the likes of Bonnaroo’s and Coachella’s mainstages. (this is posted for all to see at the Center House near the business offices) I am also sorry to inform you, but Franz Ferdinand (who I like a great deal) could not even sell out The Paramount Theatre a month ago, show was moved to The Moore which is a <1500 seat venue, this would not be good business to make them a headliner. Modest Mouse = Headliner, Franz Ferdinand = subhead, Sheryl Crow = top spot daytime mainstage and Micheal Franti = Second stage Headliner. This leaves two possible Headliners; Pearl Jam and The Beastie Boys with The Dead Weather added as a subhead are my plausible wishes.
Pearl Jam? Beastie Boys? Not happening. The way bumbershoot works is they have one night usually for rock, one night for pop/R&B, and one night for other forms of music. With Franz Ferdinand, they have the headliner for their ‘rock’ night. They won’t be adding pearl jam.
If the pattern holds true, we should be seeing these bands at Bumbershoot: Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys, The Dead Weather, Atmosphere, and Thievery Corporation. I really would like to see Cage the Elephant and Ghostland Observatory make their way there as well. I think the seattle festival scene is shaping up to be a good one.
akron/family is playing according to the tour dates on their website.
i get the feeling that Cake is gonna be at Bumbershoot this year. Just a hunch.
This is still the preliminary lineup, there will be more info released later (the festival is over 4 months away). Plus look at it this way, you can spend time seeing the other things you miss. Smaller bands, film, comedy, ballet and the Flatstock area. I have it on good authority that it will all fall into place.
Or you can go and do some sight seeing when there’s nothing to see. The monorail will take you downtown, you’re not trapped there like you are at Sasquatch.
Plus what about the year that they had Nickelback there? That was lame…
do they just want money this year? crow, perry, aar, ting tings, that sucks.
Sheryl Crow = RAWK.
last year they had fergie and paramore. they always have a couple mainstream acts like that. I’ve learned to accept it.
I saw Sheryl Crow open up for Dave Mathews at Fenway and at Woodstock in 99 and although I don’t like her stuff when i hear it on the radio she is a lot of fun live.
Wow, Sheryl Crow and Katy Perry stick out like sore thumbs among that lineup. I know this festival has always had other mainstream acts, but those two are just blatantly Top 40s pop radio.
Thanks Colin!
