they have only published one issue way back in the beginning of february which makes it essentially worthless by now. when they sent out the e-mail with it, they made it seem like they were going to publish one a month or so, but we still only have one thus far. at the rate they have been making official announcements it will probably come out again in the middle of the festival when no one will be there to read it.

On Friday, April 17th, they’ll be playing at The Troubadore which will most likely be a warm-up show for their Coachella performance since its a smaller club. Add to that Devito never ever misses a Coachella, so why would he take part in that show if it conflicted with the festival and he didn’t plan on doing something with it for the festival. In short, It’s Always Sunny… will be there based on supporting facts and details alone.

If the Killers are playing Saturday, there’s no way they’re headlining, right? They got second-billing to Bjork at ACL 2007 and I seriously doubt their stock has gone up that much (if at all) since then.

There is some truth to the Smiths rumours. However, it is just Morrissey and Marr playing together as such. Picture a brief set of new Moz songs and old standards, intermission, Moz and Marr playing a dozen or so of the Smiths greatest hits.
Three possibilities aka three speculations aka three dreams
1. Paul McCartney- After releasing an album, under the alias “Fireman” what better way to appease the States’ than to play Coachella? Paul is not really known as a festival guy nor does he have any known plans of touring, but hey, who saw Prince coming in 2008.
2. Pearl Jam- What about Pearl Jam? Pearl Jam has become a festival band in recent years and have plans for releasing a new album this spring. Having not toured full time since 2006 combined with release of a new album, Pearl Jam should be ready to rock the free (and Bush-less) world and what better than a west coast kick-off.
3. Radiohead- Probably the most plausible of the three, Radiohead already has scheduled shows in Mexico and South America in March. This mini tour wraps up three weeks before Coachella. Another thing to consider is Radiohead played two nights at All Points West, which is organized by the fine people who, you guessed it, bring us Coachella. Already being on the continent and their previous success with the event organizers, give me hope that Yorke and Co. will be Indio rocking into the wee hours of the night.

Yeah, but how often has a second-line act played more than once? I guess the Chemical Brothers and the Prodigy are the only ones that repeated within a few years. Arcade Fire doesn’t count since they weren’t in the subheadliner tier in 2005, same with Bloc Party. So I guess it’s okay for a band to come back after a year or two if they got a lot bigger, but it’s not okay if the band was already big and would be just as big for their second performance?

I think the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s have played only once — if not, twice — at Coachella. There are a ton of bands who have returned successfully more than them.

Animal Collective are not rumored. You just read a discussion about their possibility on the Coachella board. A discussion which concluded in their being unlikely, but a possibility. Meanwhile, Fleet Foxes underneath them, is all but confirmed by someone who spoke with the band. One of these is not like the other!

it is actually 12 hours. if its 5 hours to LA from JFK and 7 hours to london to JFK. add that up. prodigy could very well be there. and the last date they have in the UK is the 15th.

Yeah Prodigy are looking strangely unlikely all of the sudden, just yesterday I figured them for shoe-in’s… could still be done though. How long’s the flight from London to L.A.? Anybody? If its 12 hours… yeah. They could pull it off comfortably.

I can see Pavement playing on the Outdoor Stage. Maybe I’m out of touch, but when Pavement was a band, it was not nearly as popular as normal Coachella headliners (e.g., Prince, RHCP, Tool, Depeche Mode, Roger Waters, Bjork, etc.). In fact, most people hadn’t heard of Pavement. Sure, every indie kid coming up now considers him/herself a Pavement fan, but Radiohead, the Killers and Morrissey are all more popular.
Then again, my best guess is that we won’t be seeing Radiohead, Pavement or Morrissey (w/o the Smiths).

Actually, the reason why the dates are moved up a week earlier have nothing to do with GV trying to get Radiohead or another band, nor does it have anything to do with the weather.

I’ve heard the rumors about the Radiohead shows in Mexico as well. So a Radiohead at Coachella rumor isnt all that far-fetched.
There’s a big rumor, here in Mexico, that Radiohead will be perfoming a latinamerican tour next year. In fact I read that they’ll play three shows in Mexico City (16th, 17th and 18th of March). You can check that in greenplastic.com site.
So considering Radiohead environmental thoughts of touring they could do latinamerica in march and some early summer fests in US, like Coachella begining in april.
