They may not be a headlining band. But they are a fantastic way to close this festival. They fit OSL perfectly. Stop bitching. There could be much worse bands closing.
“yeah, but who is replacing the beasties?” is probably the best reaction I’ve seen to this disappointing news.
Tenacious D would be fun mid-tier add but not anywhere near Headlining Material, I can’t decide whether this is a bigger joke or disappointment!
yeah, but who is replacing the beasties?
TENACIOUS D!!!!
Tenacious D just confirmed…
I guess we will all have to just wait and see…but if they are wrong and you think you know who it is let’s hear it….and in 6 more hours they are looking more right than you
um, you’re wrong. The artist will be announced today and it is NOT tool.
um, you’re wrong. artist will be announced today and it is NOT Tool
sources?
It’s TOOL…I have confirmation it will be Tool!!! OSL has had to sit on it for over 2 weeks (yes, they signed them right after B.Boys pulled out). Apparently a deal was made with the peeps @ Epicenter that if they wanted Tool they had to wait to announce it so it wouldnt take away from Epicenter ticket sales…That explains everything…They will be announced either Friday or early next week…
lolla replaced with a sub headliner act. they did not get a headliner… OSL has to make sure and get a solid replacement and they have time… its coming out this week and it will be a big name act…. hopefully…
They dropped their DJ line up and after shows today.
It all comes down to if they get the right band or not. If the band is the caliber of Tool, RATM, or Prince (it would be worth the wait) if it is anything less they’ve taken too long. Personally I hope it’s not RATM or Greenday because I can’t stand either band. Prince or Tool are my top picks with Neil Young or Bob Dylan being good choices as well. I think it is going to turn out fine and I’m going anyways. PJ, DMB & JW(The Dead Weather) in SF that alone is worth the price of admission.
I agree….seems like a lack of organization or they just werent prepared for a headliner to pull out…either way, if your running a festival like this you should have had plan B…Beastie Boys pulled out over 3 weeks ago didn’t they? Hell I could have added a headliner in my backyard by now
Your totally right..OSL aint Lolla…..Lolla replaced B.Boys in a day and has there festival set…OSL still has there dick in there hands….If its not Tool or Rage people on the OSL board are going to be VERY dissapointed…especially since its been 3 weeks since the B.Boys cancelled….and BTW, I have been to both fests…Lolla is better, sorry
u guys r dumb osl aint lolla shut up its gonna be fun
Now the friggin price to fly to SF just went up $85 …thanks for the hasty replacement for the Beastie Boys….see ya Outside Lands…Lolla here we come
If you are going to this festival, do yourself a favor and make sure you see Mastodon. I’ve always respected them as artists, but I was absolutely blown away when I saw them live. Truly one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
I wouldn’t call OSL pathetic. As for the part about rumors, names have been mentioned, such as Neil Young. But I’ve asked around and so far haven’t been able to find anyone who knows for sure. We’ll keep you updated.
That’s whats been so pathetic about this festival…there havent even been any rumors…It’s not like Bonnarooo or Cochella or Lolla where people are throwing out rumors or bombarding the site for answers…It seems like nobody even cres about this festival…pretty lame though in 2 weeks you cant get a replacement…kudo the Lolla & APW for jumping right on it
any rumors at all for B Boys replacement?
Um hellllo Outside Lands….can we get a replacement please?
Well, its a huge shame that the Beastie Boys will no longer be there. That being said, Bruce Springsteen and Tool both have breaks there…either would be a great fill in. And a really outside chance for U2 or Muse.
Unfortunatly, Greenday has a break then to and I would be massivly disappointed if it was them.
I am definitely going all three days. If you still need single day tickets or 3 day tickets there is a link on my blog.

Friday is mah day.
Sunday looks like the best day by far!
check the website, 10 bands added including Bat For Lashes, Conor Oberst, and Los Campesinos!!!
The one about the second gleam in the eye is the avett brothers which is confirmed on their site.

any guesses on the new clues?
Cake is playing socal that week. You think they will be playing again?
This lineup is incredible. I wish I was a Cali resident.
Got my ticket today. WOOP WOOP
Just wondering if anyone can give me some more info on this festival. When does music start/end? Friendly enviroment, places to stay etc.
u2 sucks. dead weather is awesome. p. the man with a new album. volta too.
good initial lineup. headliners suck everywhere. it’s that kind of summer.
What a sick lineup! So stoked for round 2 this year. I mean Pearl Jam, Tom Jones, Beastie Boys- I’m there. Can’t wait for more additions. Any thoughts???
You’re insane, Jimmy. This festival line up kills. Tom Jones? Damn right.
San Francisco just can’t get a decent fuckin’ festival. There’s a handful of aight bands (Os Mutantes should be headlining)…better make the single day passes cheap.
Jason Mraz and Black Eyed Peas, WTF?
Band of Horses, Incubus, Silversun Pickups, Calexico, Tom Jones, Mastodon, Dodos, Brett Dennen were all confirmed on KFOG this morning
blahhhh U2 and Brue blow!
its looking more and more to be tool for a friday headliner. and dave will be there so get ued to it. thats why there are other stages. and if you dont like them, youre in san fransisco. so much to do.
I’m so tired of seeing DMB! Please god book someone better than this band. I like Monica’s suggestion Bruce and U2! Either band plays and I would be awesome. Both and I go to heaven
