I NEED THAT LINE-UP ASAP!! PLAESE? IT KILLING ME…WE HAVE BEEN WAITING 4 TO LONG ALREADY…
there was some moshing going on during slipknot, because i was in 2 or 3 pits..but over all slipknot was definatley the best performance out of the weekend, and yea static x should of been like before slipknot..that bands wicked and alot of the fans went to the 3rd stage to see them..cant wait till next year!
Slipknot indeed rocked the house and I must say I am a much bigger Alice In Chains overall but as far as stage show and enthusiasm and how good they sounded Slipknot took that cake…I also couldn’t figure out why Korn wasn’t in front of Alice In Chains but oh well…
Um, because Alice In Chains although being a phenomenal band, sadly doesnt even come close to the fan rush of Slipknot. I was f-ing there, and there was movement during Alice in Chains, but the second Slipknot hit the stage, the entire crowd pushed forward and it was insane. People were litterally killing each other to get closer. There wasn’t any moshing at all because there was just no room. The Stage, the music, the reaction, all of it beat out Alice In Chains. I love Alice In Chains, but they are like that band that was legendary, then dropped off the world, and is only recently starting to get heat. What I can’t understand is why Static X was on the Jagermeister stage, while Hoobastank was opening the main stage. Hoobastank was pretty bad… Static X was so huge, there was like nobody left in the main stage crowd, and people were climbing in trees just to get a spot to see the show. The crowd was too big for the stage aea.
Okay Slipknot Deff needed to headline ROTR 2009.
&& They Did so you Bitches that like to talk about Slipknot.
Can Just Die! Go Fall In a Whole! Cause Slipknot is Fucking Amazing. && There Music Keeps Me alive So You all that keep hatin on Slipknot can Go burn in Hell ….
-Amberlee
This line up could be a lot better. Saturday is pretty decent. I still don’t understand why Slipknot is billed as a headliner over Alice in Chains. I have seen the knot twice and I’m sorry but they just don’t cut it compared to the epic timeless sound of Alice in Chains. Even with that new singer they have amazing music and are veterans of the industry. Sunday will sadly be the gayest music I’ve ever had to experience. I have seen Avenged and they were pathetic, just the same shit over and over again, it all blurred together. Blue October is the only band I’m even a bit interested in seeing on Sunday. Also why are you people bitching about money. I am spending about 1400 dollars to goto Chicago for Lollapalooza this year. That line up is amazing. I wouldn’t even bother with this festival if I didn’t live in Columbus.
Does anyone know how long of a set each band plays?
Whoever said buckcherry sucks has never seen them live. I’ve seen them 2x while they’ve been with A7X (Also great live. They were also touring with Shinedown, Papa Roach, and Saving Abel, all of these bands are great live and no one should be dissing them unless they can do the same thing and get up and perform on stage. I can’t wait for ROTR!!
BuckCherry Is the shit man.
You have problems.
Damn.
Dude if you don’t like american, then fucking move.
Are you fucking serious!? Whoever said this is a bad lineup and thinks that Atreyu, Slipknot and Motley Crue sucks probably sits in bed late at night in their parent’s basement with a bottle of lube and a celine dion CD! Almost everybody playing is AMAZING! Although I have to agree that Buckcherry sucks and I’ve never even heard of Halestorm, but most of the headliners are GREAT! Plus, to the guy who left the first comment, I am an American Citizen and I’m Anarchist all the Way! America Sucks!
How do you people actually listen to this music? Even the members of these bands know they’re a joke. The fact that “Atreyu”, “Buckcherry”, “Saving Abel”, and “Chevelle” are even remotely successful speaks to the stupidity of our populace.
Oh wait, that’s right, I forgot. Titties and beer! Woo! America!
Yeah I don’t think Trapt are on thereany more, and I think Loaded and some other band are. I wanted to see Trapt again
I am first and foremost ready to jam to these awsome bands but trapt is not on the official rock on the range website as a confirmed band to play any one know why?
rotr went last year and was blown away was so pumped for this year check for lineup every day till it came out. when it came out was not as excited the bands are ok but motley crue and slipnot as headliners please slipnots ok but headliner? korn playin 3rd fiddle to them that rediclous and dosent motley crue have there own festival stick to it and stay out of ours. never been so excited about something and let down so much.
Flyleaf’s last album info: http://www.flyleafmusic.com/ecard/
I am so excited!I get to go to rock on the range this year!So BOOOO
!
I get to go hahahahah
I live a mile from the place…I guess I should have rented my basement out would have made my ticket back!
ROTR is though in relative terms a lot cheaper than some of these other ones…ie lolla/roo/virgin/acl/coach/roth and if you are into all types of loud rock music then this is it because you don’t have to deal with any other types of music clogging down your day…
I bought my tix yesterday =D I’m pumped, but yeah I agree with the post above mine, it costs so much
And with this economy ugh … gas food tickets band tees and even possibly the purchases of cd’s …. *sigh* it’s all part of the experience I suppose
god it stink’s how much money it is though gotta save up going next year! you need the tickets a hotel room food gas omg it is so annoying!
this is gonna be awsome Korn and the Used are the best!
heard they announce the days they play in March
Don’t know for sure…but since tickets go on sale to the general public this saturday my bet is sometime this week…They have tickets on sale now, but it’s only 2 day passes.
Anybody know when they will announce who will play will which day? Not necessarily the schedule just who on which…kind of annoyed they didn’t break it out like last year but oh well…
I’m thinking they haven’t fully announced everything because Crue Fest isn’t final yet and they usually have everyone who is touring together come together…So maybe Godsmack who isn’t offical for Crue Fest will be there.
I’m seriously so fuckin’ pumped! I constantly keep checking every site possible with newsd about it …. but I’m still curious as to what other bands will be there … it’s supposed to be 36 total and I think … oh, well I gues that’s all 36 … but it says on the myspace page AND MORE … I wonder if there will be bigger bands released?
The only good band is AIC..
@ steve they go on sale the 21st
o wow, yea ed and eric um…. what a joke. enough said
when do tix go on sale!!!!!!
@Mitch…I hope they come this year I was pretty excited to see them last year and then the lead singer had to go and get all sick and stuff…But yea, from original list I was seeing I wasn’t too excited, but now I’m pretty pumped looks like a hell of a show.
Same here. I agree with the comment above mine!!
OMFG what day is Flyleaf gonna be there!?!?!?! I fuckin’ called that, HELL YEAH!
@ Ed Haas
you seriously dont have a clue and should not attend rotr. you will have a terrible time.
Godsmack puts on an awesome show.
and your best list. are you serious?
Alice in Chains is unreal live. Saw them two years ago in Vancouver. New lead singer William Duvall has a voice that is close to what Layne’s was. He played with Jerry Cantrell while he was touring solo. When Jerry did A.I.C songs, Duvall would sing the Layne parts. Really good show
just announced the lineup on 99.7 the rock in columbus…Korn/Alice in Chains/Motley Crue/Slipknot/Avenged Sevenfold…check their myspace page for more…
They have one, is he good? I don’t know…
But they do have one…
Alice in Chains?? Better find a singer first
shinedown?!
ah thank god,i’m 100x more excited now,
i worship them<3
Pheew … I thought I was the only person checkin’-in at this site anymore …. so does anyone actually know roughly what time the announcement will be tomorrow?
@ Eric
I agree. Slipknot is ‘okay’ live, but as a headliner? Seriously?
Godsmack could very well be the worst band ever along with Nickelback, and no member of Alice in Chains (I would hope) would ever play in the same venue as those copycats.
The best bands I can think of for this event would absolutely have to be this:
Day 1:
Blink 182 as headliner
Baroness
Harvey Milk
Day 2:
Alice in Chains as headliner
Boris
Dillinger Escape Plan
Any other decent bands would have to be repeats as (IMO) most nu-metal is lifted garbage these days anyways.
eric yur an ass you dont know shit and why are you on here
are there really this many people concerned with some shitty nu-metal/radio rock festival?? this has all the makings of the worst festival ever. just sayin’…
ASnyone have any idea what time this announcement is being released? Possibly 10 a.m. like the rumor said for today? Gah, I’m pumped!
Shinedown is confirmed according to pollstar
Gosh this sucks I haveta wait another day for the big announcement!?!? Ugh …. it says the announcement is tomorrow on the official RotR website.
also check out http://www.myspace.com/ofhumanmusic
seriously they’re pretty bad ass
Idk i guess thursday was just a rumor or somethin I’m not sure but i’m getting really impatient lol, i was just gonna say that if we’re expecting to see Slipknot as a headliner we could probably expect to see Coheed and Cambria and Trivium as well because they are touring together. just an idea, can someone make it friday pleaseee lol
What?! Friday? Why not Thursday like everyone is saying?
Friday the 13th, Major announcement coming to ROTR.com…so we finally will know the lineup friday
Alex that’s true, but Bamboozle is 13-14 days earlier than ROTR. With ROTR being the largest true rock/metal show, I figure there is a chance they play both, especially with a big comeback expected for the band.
Money Money, The Used are already confirmed for Bamboozle Left…
As I understand, Slipknot has been confirmed to headline Day 2 of the festival, and I’m also hearing stirrings about The Used playing their first live show in the last couple years to play ROTR. I guess all will be known Thursday. I can’t wait!
and i was just reading through the comments,
lil wayne?!
it would be AMAZING,but he really is the farthest thing from rap,so it wouldnt make much sense for him to be there, even if he does have a new ‘rock album’ its not quite that,at all.
when are tickets going to be sold?
i wont get as lucky as i did last time,
got both days, floor tickets. for free.
ITS ABOUT TIME they announced when the line up is going to be i was going insane and getting really impatient
That’d be fuckin’ sweet dude. And Thurs. it is : D
Blink 182 Reunion could happen at the Rock!
Someone on the ROTR myspace says they are gunna release the list thur 10 am
Per the Rock 99.7 FM in Columbus, they have important Rock on the Range festival information to reveal this Thursday at 10 AM. The announcer didn’t say “the lineup will be revealed” but I don’t know what else the important information would be. And it would make sense because Thursday is the 12th and the lineup was also revealed last year on Feb. 12th
To the girl who said papa roach’s new cd only got 2 stars—it was in the rolling stone, what do you expect from them?
Devin–LP is a great live band
Romeo and Marvin–No dude, they’re not quite up to “longevity” status as ZZ Top, but Slipknot is by far one of the best live bands out there today
Slipknot will be the most epic headliner to date, i guarantee it.
Thank you, then I’ll expect reading the line-up tomorrow
it makes me excited. And, papa Roach puts on a great fuckin’ show, they’re really energetic and, I think, could do a great job headlining RotR.
In unrelated news, Blink-182 is back, that’s fuckin’ awesome!
Papa Roach did make that place go crazy last year, I dont think slipknot is big enough to headline that!
I hope SlipKnot is the headliner just saw them and they kick ass hope Papa Roach comes back they where really good last year and what about HellYeah they where awsome.
the perfect headliner would be soundgarden reuniting, too bad we know thats not going to happen anytime soon
Manson sucks. Big disappointment if he headlines.
I like Slipknot enough but as a headliner is that a step down from STP and ZZ Top? I’m not even being a dick I am just asking. I guess when I think of them I would think of them on a Disturbed level as a good pre headliner…but perhaps I am wrong.
I would think both Zombie and Manson would be bigger.
Not a slipknot fan and if they headlined i would leave!
Its never a good sign when u release 2 singles months ahead of the cd release. Hollywood Whore was a terrible choice of a lead single and i agree, lets talk about relevant bands who will be on the bill. How great would it be to have alice in chains and godsmack on the same bill
why are you guys fighting over if papa roach headlines they are annoying and their new cd only got 2 stars i wanna see godsmack headline that is real rock not annoying papa roach
Let linkin park play bamboozle with their other emo friends. Slipknot, mudvayne, godsmack, alice in chains, zombie, that is where true rock lives
Linkin park is a band I really want to see live, I’ve talked with people who have seen them and they’ve all said the same thing, that they put on one hell of a show. As for the other 3 wouldn’t mind them, but BB and 3DG were there the first year, and kind of got the short end of the stick as being early shows and not a lot of attention. Wonder if with the popularity ROTR is now getting if they would want to come back and try again or if ROTR is going to continue getting new and different people, but both were pretty good and wouldn’t mind seeing them again.
What about three days grace or Breaking Benjamin? Maybe Linkin Park or Korn?
@ Last, wow, just wow…Some people just aren’t very intelligent.
@ Romeo…Yeah, I’m not too excited about Crue…Saw them this summer and did not impress, their whole background show is all they were, no energy or excitment, just pyrotechnics and turning the volume up as loud as it could go, not to mention I couldn’t even understand what the lead singer was ever saying because his voice was so high…They really did disappoint.
Ok u win Devin. If Papa Roach were to headline ROTR it would mean they were the biggest draw on the lineup which would not be a good thing. ROTR would have to cancel the festival for “lagging ticket sales due to this poor economic time.” LOL. the end
@ Dead Cell, You just combined my 2 different post, one which came after the fact…I also believe they aren’t going to be on the bill this year because they are touring elsewhere(europe)…Not because they want to headline in 2010…If they were in the USA this year around ROTR time then they would probably be PLAYING(just so you don’t get confused, I didn’t say headlining, just playing at ROTR.) Now one more time, nowhere did I ever imply or say that they were going to headline, but if they did, I doubt that there are many people who would be disappointed, maybe a select few, but anyway, just clearing everything up for you.
Crue and Slipknot pretty much the most rumored/expected now?
Crue is a letdown for me, I have seen them before and they sang the first verse of Dr Feelgood two times in a row then skipped to the 3rd verse. I like them on CD but to me that is clown shit, they were lackluster at best when it came to a turnkey performance.
No problem with Slipknot however any word on Godsmack/Zombie/Manson/Alice In Chains rumors?
Those are bands I have some more interest in…but to each their own I guess I can always leave early!
Cant we all just get along? The lineup is very near, with no Papa Roach or AC/DC on it but with 2 fantastic headliners, Crue and Slipknot! Its going to be a top notch lineup
Devin- my reading comprehension is just fine. You said the following, “Sadly I don’t think Papa is coming back this year, because last year they said they wanted to headline in 2 years, which to me says they aren’t coming back this year” and then you followed it up with “it wouldn’t be suprising if they did headline one night in 2010.”
that tells me that YOU believe Papa Roach isn’t going to be on the bill this year BECAUSE Jacoby said that they wanted to headline it in 2 years.
There is no other way to read that. They are NEVER going to headline ROTR. They are the 3rd act on a bill that features Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry. The fact that you think that Kid Rock was the best act that day tells me that we have many differences and I will leave it at that. I thought Papa Roach was maybe, MAYBE, the 11th best live band at the festival last year.
thats quite a long name.
slipknot
@ anonymous…If you read the post correctly you would know that I said that Jacoby said he wanted to headline it, not that he said he was going to, this is where reading comprehension comes in to place…I do however think that Papa Roach would be a great headliner, both years that they have came they have stole the show away, they were by far the best band the first year and second only to Kid Rock last year on Sunday and that’s saying a lot…Also I went to Crue Fest this year and much like everyone else has been saying Papa roach stole that show as well, they put on one hell of a show and have great energy and love to rock, which is what ROTR is all about…But anyway, point is nobody every said they were headlining in 2010, but that is what Jacoby wishes, so while they won’t be there this year, it wouldn’t be suprising if they did headline one night in 2010.
my bad, i shouldn’t have said expect it. Thats when I expect it. Last year, they announced it on Feb 12th, which was a Tuesday, and they changed their myspage top friends to bands that were on the lineup at midnight the night before. No sources. Nobody told me. that’s my best guess. I expect it to be out on Tuesday. thanks for your explanation Mitch, sorry about your confusion.
@ post above me: how do you know that for sure about the line-up at midnight on myspace and tuesday for what, their website and everywhere else? Anybody can logically say that, especially when posting as “Anonymous” on some random blog. I could type intellectually and say something like, “The lineup will be announced next Friday at noon PST” “Who told you? “A friend of mine that works at Crew Stadium.” But none of that is true. So, I guess I’m asking, because I’m totally excited and pumped for Rotr, where is your source for knowing that?
you know, just because a front man says in concert he is going to come back in 2 years to headline doesn’t mean its going to happen. And with Papa Roach, they are never going to be big enough again to headline a festival. And think about it, their new CD comes out in March and next May would mean that it has been out for 15 months. They have already been touring for the past 4-5 months in support of the 1st 2 singles already released for it. So what I am trying to say is, not only will Papa Roach not be headlining in 2010, but they will also not be on the bill.
And there is 0 chance that Pearl Jam will at ROTR this year. Expect the lineup on Tuesday, and possibly at midnight Monday night on their myspace top friends list..
i would to see pearl jam come to columbus tht would be the best scenario for me i dont think any1 would be dissapointed, any1 heard anything on tht possibility??
That’s kinda a releif about the myspace updating friends thing. Hopefully the big announcement is next week. And to whoever said Seether sucked live … I agree. I was so pumped to see them, and they stood there and played their music. I like their songs and music a lot, but the show was pretty disappointing, as though the guys were tired with the tour and doing the same routine over and over (like they do :P) I’m still pumped to find something out though!
Avenged Sevenfold was added to MySpace friends yesterday.
Yea BFMV wood be sweet id like to see airbourne again they were awesome last year
IT WOOD BE SWEET IF LIMBIZKIT DID A SHOW OR PERHAPS BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE
There aren’t any credible sources other than forums, but this is the third time ive seen Slipknot talk for Saturday.
HOLY FUCK I NEED TO KNOW IF SLIPNOT IS GOING.
Like Chip said last year they added like 20+ like 1-2 weeks before they posted the actual line-up, which happened this year about the same time as last year…The only difference is they took the bands off of their top friends faster this year than last year…but unlike chip said, most of the added bands did end up playing…It all depends on whose touring with who, as to who comes…Sadly I don’t think Papa is coming back this year, because last year they said they wanted to headline in 2 years, which to me says they aren’t coming back this year…But repeat bands aren’t a bad thing as long as the bands don’t suck in concert, like Alter Bridge and Seether did last year.
Apparently Slipknot said on XM Liquid Metal that they’re headlining Saturday
hell yeah
Oh yea, and to the guy who said it would be tough to get big bands and still make a profit………have you checked out the prices on beer and food???? They make more money on that than the ticket sales! which is really the only complaint i have about the event.
Mudvayne and Godsmack are the best suggested so far imo. Godsmack puts on the best show of anyone i have seen. And Mudvayne would just kick ass.
The bestie boys should not be invited! GNR…AC/DC?? no thanks.
And did anyone else see Weiland bend over to pick up his gatorade away from the mic while still singing last year??
Kevo—Just because ROTR friended new bands does NOT mean they’re added. Last year they added a good 20+ bands right before the official announcement and ended up not playing. So do NOT base the line up off of any bands that are just added on myspace, It’s pure speculation at this point.
BUT ROTR did post a blog saying an announcement would be coming very soon.
We already know that ac/dc isnt going to be at the rotr show but it has nothing to do with the fact that they played 2 sold out shows in toronto. Concerts at Crew Stadium hold 30.000
ac/dc played two shows in toronto this tour, both 45,000, which is twice the capacity of crew stadium..they ain’t coming to columbus, folks. slipknot is, crue is..see myspace new friends list of ROTR for up to date list of lineup.
UGH! I want some new information about RotR! Badly! And about Flyleaf’s new album on top of that!
Information, come sooner!!
I would love to see Black Stone Cherry, Shinedown, Course of Nature, Default, Alter Bridge, and Theory of a Deadman there this year. Just putting that out there
to the “true fan” guy who said acdc wouldnt play because of the venue size, who cares its no woodstock but when stp went on last year the place was packed, and if that is their attitude id rather them not go, im more into seeing bands who play for the enjoyment of playing then how many people are watching, and take it easy on the guy he didnt say deftones would be playing he said it would be nice, and he clearly added underneath if their bassist makes a healthy recovery because the comments are about a minute apart.
So I looked up the majority of the bands I don’t know too well, and it doesn’t seem like many are very big; rather, it seems like they’re smaller bands just getting the feel for a huge rock festival. Ah, well, they may as well start off somewhere….
To Anonymous, below HOCKEYSTOPPER and above romeo and marvin, that sounds like some reliable information to me, adding those bands to their myspace. However … I haven’t even heard of like half of those bands. I know Halestorm is on Atlantic Records with Shiendown, I’m sure they’ll get big. And State of Shock opened for Staind, Seether, and Papa Roach when i saw them — they’re all right. I expect that a lot of these bands are smaller? … which kinda stinks. But I know a few songs from some of the other ones. I guess it’s kinda sad, I’d be most excited for Shindedown and Trapt, both of which I’ve seen already. And
… no Flyleaf, which is a serious disappointment since they had to cancel last year, and they have a new album releasing right around that time, if I’m not mistaken. That’s a major bummer for me, personally. It seems like this year isn’t as much “rock,” like last year, but more heavy metal / screaming / grunting (I.E. atreyu, slipknot, mudvayne, all that remains, possibly others?) But then again, don’t criticize, these are only my own personal thoughts. Hell, like I said, I haven’t even heard of, roughly, half of those bands, if they’re even to be added to the line-up O.o
Why are people mentioning AC/DC? They have a date in Germany on 5/17, so you can cross them off. The earliest they might be back in America is Rothbury or Lollapolooza.
I’m guessing it’s Crue, Godsmack, and Rob Zombie on Saturday, w/ Alice in Chains and Slipknot on Sunday.
anyone think scott weiland might be there doing his solo stuff? he just released a solo album and is touring right now, he also played rock on the rage two years ago with VR and last year with STP
Crew stadium holds more people than every arena AC/DC played this winter. The guy 2 spots above isnt very bright. Please tell us what a “true” fan is.
Add Mudvayne to the list
all of you morons who think that a band the size and popularity of ac/dc would play such a small venue is out of your mind. and kinda stupid. also, the person that wrote led zepplin should shut their mouth and get a clue. Really?!? they should not be allowed into the crew stadium. and if you want to see led zepplin with another singer other than robert plant, then clearly you are not a true fan at all. Also, to the idiot that wrote the deftones would play, have you lived in a hole? clearly their bassist is in a coma and has been for several months. and you call yourself a fan. thanks
Beasties are doing bonoroo, y not r.o.t.r
good pickup there…yeah almost everyone who got their roo myspace updated showed up on that lineup today…other than the “fake” ones they updated b/c they realized people were on to them…that looks like a pretty solid lineup if you throw in those rumored bands…probably slayer too since they will be touring with marilyn manson…I still think RATM is unlikely and I heard GNR may not even tour now b/c of basically “lack of interest” from the public based on bad album sales…
you realize that anybody can get on Wikipedia and post stuff right? its not exactly a good place to get information.
However if you want real info, I would say that Motley Crue-Alice in Chains-Atreyu-Shinedown-the Used-Static x-Blue October-Saliva-Hoobastank-Trapt-Sick Puppies-Crooked X-All That Remains-Framing Hanley-State of Shock-Joan Red-Nonpoint-Bangkok 5-PopEvil-Halestorm-Charm City Devils- and Age of Daze are all safe bets, all of which were in the updated Rock on the Rannge myspace new friends page today, much like Bonnaroo did before making their announcement. Now if you add possible rumors of Marilyn Manson-Slipknot-Mudvayne-Godsmack-Rob Zombie-Hurt-and Egypt Central, then you have 29 bands and a full lineup.
Must have been a misprint because it’s gone now.
Wikipedia had Led Zeppelin and Mudvayne added
yeah i would hope repeats are at a minimum…not that i didn’t love disturbed or serj last year but keep the diversity and new bands…look at how few repeats the roo and coachella etc get each year…i know they aren’t rock only so that makes it tougher…green day/ac dc/rob zombie/manson/slayer would be about the best it could get for me that seems somewhat reasonable…i know manson and slayer are touring on their own but those bands will still stop a night and do big festies occastionally…i hate creed i hope they never reunite…that isn’t rock it’s top 40 crap i’m sorry…beastie boys will not be topped on this lineup either i agree…
I think an awesome line up would be ac/dc,Hinder,nickelback.Whatever it is it will be awesome.I was there both days last year. The only problem was it was frigging COLD!I hope the weather is nicer this year.To bad they couldnt change the concert to like june!
They have only had 41 bands play in 2 years. If they have to resort to repeats to sell tickets with all the mainstream rock bands that are out there, then rock music is in trouble
Theory of a Deadman would be nice to see again …
It’s gonna be really hard for the organizers to not repeat at least a couple bands from last year, and even harder to get brand new ones from the first year as well. A few repeats have to happen pretty much, and just because a specific band has performed there before doesn’t mean that people wion’t like ‘em the next year. Papa Roach has been there both years and they kick ass!
It’d be nice to see Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, and Breaking Benjamin — all are currently writing new material, and have a new album planned for this year. Three Days Grace will be recording in March, and Flyleaf has their new album halfway finished. Trapt is also good, they weren’t there last year I don’t think either. I’m excited — I hope somethin’ big is let loose here soon, before when it’s supposeda be (I think I read around Valentine’s Day … ?) But yeah, still pumped!
The Beasties won’t be there and they are better than any band that will be on this bill
If the beastie’s go that will put an end to ROTR, they are rap crap idk how ppl can place them in rock its such a shame. I doubt disturbed will be there unless they r goin on the 17 cuz their MAAW4 tour goes till the 16. i wouldn’t mind seeing them there again. Green day i could see. i also want to see atreyu there. idk its hard. idk about the rumors but maybe even a creed reunion if thats their first show in 5 years….
that is hoping there bassist makes a full and healthy recovery
not as a headliner but deftones would be a good “later in the day” band
Why would a no name band like Bobaflex perform 2 years in a row and how do u know that to be fact?
bobaflex will also be performing this year, i know this for a fact.
I certainly see Alice in Chains on the bill with a new release out in the summer but not as a headliner. William DuVall is going to have to prove he can make them as popular as Sammy Hagar did Van Halen first. and many people will hate him regardless seeing how his name is not Layne Staley.
how about possibly alice in chains as a headliner?
Godsmack could still do a one off show. Money talks and people always listen. I think they are a strong possibility to be on the bill. AC/DC is not going to be there
hate to break it to you guys, but godsmack is on a hiatus, so they won’t be there. apparently sully is gonna do some solo stuff for a while.
possibilities im my opinion are: avenged sevenfold, motley crue, ac/dc. i dunno if the organizers would want harder bands on the bill (they have had sevendust and KsE) but maybe manson, slayer, or lamb of god since they will all be touring this summer and LoG has a new cd coming out in mid February.
seems like they have headliners that haven’t toured in a while, so maybe GNR would headline or maybe Pearl Jam, although i’d love to see Rage Against the Machine.
hinder was on the 07 bill, and they were decent. i don’t think seether would be back this year, but seeing rob zombie would kick ass. black stone cherry is also a possibility since they have a new cd out as well.
hell yeah, i would love to see the beatie boys there!
Would anyone else love to see the beastie boys there?
DUDEEE i NEED to know the LINEUP FOR 2009 RIGHHTT NOWW
hahaha i cannott wait anymore.
its drivn me INSANE!
God Smack & Rob Zombie would be cool. Would love to see Papa Roach and Disturbed return, what energy! STP was almost anticlimatic after Disturbed but they did end up bringing it. As long as we’re wishing for bands that will not appear, I’d love to see Jonathan Davis and the boys from Korn reunite for the show. It would be worth the 10 hour drive for me just to see them.
if lil wayne was to be there i would never go there again he is never going to be rock
I heard Lil Wayne is gona be there to support his new rock album. Hopefully bullshit though!
Is There A Chance Hinder, nickelback, or seether will be there? i went last year & loved Seether..But I Really Wanna See Hinder! The Curosity Is killing Me! I Dont think i can wait till feb =D
the offspring would be nice, I actually heard they might be touring this summer…sorry about the numbers maybe the fact that I was in the front row of STP and comfortable while 50 feet from rage and couldn’t move nor could anyone for a 1/4 mile it seemed like 85k!
I wish they would get Rob Zombie, Offspring, it seems like it goes for harder rock but I think nobody would have issues if they went off and got some good alt rock/indie bands this year ie White Stripes something like that…with the way coachella and langerado have been jerking around on lineups it will be interesting to see how ROTR/Lolla/Roo/Roth and all the other big ones shape out b/c it seems these places have been having trouble booking the people they want for money they have and throw the hesitant consumer in it will take some smart choices to fill these places up with a reasonable profit for these promoters this year across the board…
Via their myspace page- Crooked X is going to be at the festival on the 16th
Romeo– I don’t think Rage Against the Machine really cares how big their audience is when making tour plans (and for the record, Lollapalooza holds around 65,000 people and ROTR holds about 30,000 people).
Motley Crue is a possible headliner. Charm City Devils is the first band signed to Nikki Sixx’s record label so that could be a combo package and their current tour doesn’t include Columbus. But that could just be me reaching and guessing too much. The lineup should come out the 2nd week of February. Don’t be too impatient–its not like the ROTR organizers are doing to the ROTR people like Coachella is.
announce your line-up already i have been waiting all year since last may haha im getting impatient DAMNIT
I thought RotR was roughly 40,000 people? And I would love to see The Offspring, just throwin’ that out there, I dunno if they would headline though … That’s a toughie … maybe Slipknot?
ac/dc is in europe on tour….https://tickets.acdc.com/…so is metallica…manson and slayer are doing their own mayhem tour…i don’t really know what big names they can get…unless they go for a green day type…guns n roses possibly but i just have no interest in seeing that without slash and the boys…perhaps they will reach back for a classic artist like the first year and get an aerosmith…there is only so many names for headliners that can do it…i doubt RATM b/c they are so cause oriented and they played to 85,000 at Lolla why would they want to play to 12,000 in Columbus?!
By the way, I noticed you don’t have Pop Evil confirmed, but their myspace page says that they’re going.
….Really, no info ’til mid-February!?!?!? Jeez … I heard in late Nov - early Dec that info would be released by the end of the year — and that never happened. This is such a long wait, wow. I have never gone, I wish I woulda went last year, except I woulda been fuckin’ pissed off since Flyleaf had to drop….I’d love to see them though at RotR this year, and Three Days Grace; both have new material coming right around the same time, and are in the studio if not now then soon.
I’m getting myself more and more pumped up for Saliva. As for Pop Evil, I’ve listened to “Hero,” and that’s okay. Never hearda Charm City Devils. Damnit, I wish that guy would drop you a hint Joe, that’d be kickass, but fuck, I’m just pumped to go literally the day after I’m done with high school =D It’s gonna fuckin’ RAWK! …on the RANGE!
I wonder if AC/DC might be on the bill…they are touriing I do believe. I’ve been both yrs and am planning this yr as well…They just keepin us on our toes til they announce it…I bet it’ll be a hella line up…Keep on Rockin’ fellow rangers!!!!
Well this guy takes the pics for the bands at all the big concerts and he is the one that told me about those three bands. & he told me that there are three other bands that he is not allowed to tell me, because they dont want the bands to be revealed yet. If you want to add his myspace you can.

Joe- your “friend” must have looked on Pollstar to get that info because it has had those 2 bands listed for at least the last 3 weeks now. Pop Evil has also confirmed via their myspage page (it has since been taken down) that they will be at ROTR.
ughh i dont want 3 doors down to be there again or papa roach they need to add someone that hasnt been there before to headline like godsmack since metallica will be in europe
He would piss people off by telling because they are really big names?! B/c I am fine with that…
I have am friends with a guy that takes pics for the Rock on the Range festivals and other big concerts, he told me soo far there are 2 bands booked that he is allowed to tell me. He also told me that there are 3 other bands booked that he is not allowed to reveal because he would have alott of pissed off people if he told anyone. I have also been both years soo far and I am totally excited & cant wait for this year!
So soo far on the lineup that I know of at this moment:
-Saliva
-Charm City Devils
europe i think…http://www.metallica.com/index.asp?item=601822
metallica won’t be there…tour dates somewhere else that weekend
anyone think maybe slipkont or metallica could be a chance?
I would guess a green day type band i.e. around for a while not done much lately like STP of last year and then a (unfortunately) 3 doors down type band like Nickelback…which would keep me away for that day…just based on what would make them the most money and bring in people…then fill it out with the best possible rock bands that are touring
talked to my friend today who works in the business and all they keep hearing is rage for headliner…i just don’t see it though but that’s what they are hearing and they book a lot of bands for Columbus area and talk to numerous promoters/managers throughout the country…just something to salivate about…I saw them at Lolla this year and it was great but I would also think it would be completely out of control in regards to crowd management…
The line up wont be announced till like February, more likely the Valentines weekend.
STP is not gonna happen. Weiland is doing his solo shit and STP is done any way. Godsmack and Rob Zombie are possibilities though
Godsmack and Rob Zombie may well happen but I highly doubt STP will be there again, back to back years as top bill wouldn’t draw in as many people and keep it diverse. I think someone just wrote that on wikipedia anyways
I HAVE TO KNOW NOW!! if stp godsmack and rob zombie are really going to be there unless that is a rumor that is driving me crazy!!
The Rock on the Range’s Party Page on Myspace said that the big announcement will come out in Feburary, which is around the same time the announcement came out last year.
So… Who thinks they have been waiting long enough for the damn line-up? Definitely me!!!!!! Come on already, I’m way past impatiently waiting!!!!!!! I need the line-up, lol!!!
