  1. So… I guess at this point Ultra has a better lineup than Landerado. I was hoping that Bloc Party would show up there. Looks unlikely now, I suppose.

  2. I can’t complain. I’ve got my tickets. Now, I’m hoping that The Chemical Brothers will be there. I have yet to see them. If not, I know it will be a good time anyway. :P

  3. Anyone know how fast I should expect the 99 dollar pre-sale tickets to go? will the tickets automatically bump up in price when the first lineup announcement is made, or is it done by amount of tickets sold?

  4. If I am not mistaken, it is by amount sold. According to the website, “Only A Limited Amount Available At This Price / Price Will Increase Thereafter”

Since this is my 4th Ultra, I’m trying to remember how fast the tickets ago. I think if you need to wait a week or two, you’ll probably be alright, but then again, I would never count on it.

  5. Thanks Hecate.

Oh, and I totally Called the Cut Copy being on the Lineup. haha

  6. uh… minus the “the”

  7. I’m just glad to be hearing some news. I look forward to Ultra every year. Hotel’s been booked since April. :)

  8. Can I call a likely bs on the Cut Copy/Matt & Kim booking?

They will likely play in Miami for Winter Music Conference but not Ultra Day 2.

Since they made it a 2 day festival two years ago, the first day has always had the more progressive acts (Justice, The Cure, Boys Noize) and the second day the more traditional EDM and Drum and Bass stuff (Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk, Infected Mushroom.)

Unless they’ve changed the booking to make both days more progressive, I sincerely doubt they’re playing.

However, that Saturday of Winter Music Conference traditionally has the biggest one-day bookings of the conference, Justice, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan and Simian Mobile Disco have played stand-alone non-Ultra shows that day in the last two years.

I say look for FIXED to host Cut Copy somewhere that day.

  9. Maybe so. I’m waiting for announcements of bigger magnitude. :)

  10. Black Kids will be there!

  11. I’m going to start this rumor even if it may be a longshot.. but I think The Prodigy will show up. With a new album coming out, it would be a great time for them to perform at Ultra.

    Need some possible proof?
Check out on the site their tour dates. March suspiciously only has no dates. Their last show would have been the end of their Big Day Out tour on February 1st, and their next show on April 5th gives them a few days to get out to the UK.

    I can only hope.

  12. via Billboard…

“At Ultra, Tiesto will be flanked by Carl Cox, Bloc Party, Deadmau5, the Ting Tings, Cut Copy and Crystal Castles, among others.

Other artists scheduled to perform at this year’s festival include Santogold, Roni Size Reprazent (its first U.S. appearance in seven years), the Presets, Simian Mobile Disco and Busy P”

so stoked for bloc party, the ting tings, cut copy, CRYSTAL CASTLES, the presets, and SANTOGOLD!!

  13. Be excited for Simian Mobile also, trust me.

  14. Santogold! I’m happy now. Really excited about seeing her. Figured on Tiesto and Carl Cox since they are staples. Seeing the Ting Tings is a real bonus….

  15. Holy Crap! better than I was expecting, they picked perfect acts to fulfill the “non-traditional” slots. I’m definitely going. Now if only Prodigy could end up being the saturday headliner.

  16. I need a couch I can sleep on so I can fly down to attend this…any takers?

  17. Early bird tickets are sold old! 2nd line-up announcement very soon.

  18. I’m going to go ahead and guess that A-Trak will be announced for this thing…A-Trak is playing with Simian Mobile Disco the two dates immediately before UMF

  19. Yeah, I saw that earlier, but can’t make out all the names on it. Tried to blow it up as well, didn’t work so well.

  20. is that real or going to show up on the “is it fake? page?

  21. Looks legit to me.

  22. some that i can make out that already are not confirmed, David Guetta, Pendulum, Rabbit in the Moon, Benny Benassi, Luciano, Tiga, Dirty South, Loco Dice, Late of the Pier, Armin Van Buuren, Moby, Erick Morillo, The Prodigy, Eric Prydz, Above & Beyond, Booka Shade, Sno, Infected Mushroom, Pete Tong, ATB, M.A.N.D.Y.

  23. where is Rabbit in the Moon on that poster?

  24. There is the Rabbit in the Moon logo right next to Santogold. They are also listed on the bottom in what looks to be a breakdown by stage. There are on the Friday side in the second column, 3 down.

I also see Ed Rush + Optical, Evol Intent, Planet of the Drums, DJ Icey, Goldie, Baby Anne and Boyz Noize.

  25. Others I’m making out when I really squint down in the stage listing and zoom in a bit…The Whip, Kaskade, Markus Schulz, Soul of Man, Future Funk Squad, Richie Hawtin, Storm & Johnny Dangerously…

All right, my eyes are hurting, that’s all I think I can figure out for now

  26. http://coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23880&page=6

The last post on the page kind of confirms the poster is real.

  27. Here’s some additional names that people in the UMF forums have figured out…Swedish House Mafia (Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, & Axwell), Fedde Le Grand, Daisy P

  28. UMF updated their site with phase 2. Prodigy and all the others are indeed confirmed.

  29. Yea awesome…looks like they only ones we missed were Tiefschwarz, Perry Farrell, Andy C & MC GQ, and Kraak & Smaak

  30. Meh. I was hoping there would be more to the line-up, but a friend of mine picked up the flyer last weekend after a big Ultra meeting. Oh well. Not my favorite line-up but I know it will be a good time.

  31. though it looks like some of the artists written, even those that are clear, at the bottom of that poster didn’t make the phase 2 announcement…are they more likely final phase bands or bands that got dropped for whatever reason? i

In particular, Soul of Man, DJ Icey, Baby Anne, Ed Rush + Optical, Eric Prydz (those he appears in the images at the top of the image on the site), Goldie, DJ Storm & Johnny Dangerously, Marcos Carnival, and Rordigo Viera. I think I got them all.

  32. That made no sense. He picked up the flyer and confirmed to me that it was correct before today. I need more caffeine.

  33. Terry, as I wrote in the news piece, there will be one more lineup phase.

  34. Yea, I knew that there would be a final lineup phase…I just thought it was obscure that those artists would be listed on the second phase poster but not within the official second phase announcement, therefore making any final phase announcement little of a surprise if those bands are to be in fact named in that phase

hecate, not that I’m trying to be instigative, provoking, or anything, but who else could be confirmed that would make this festival better for you? Maybe I’m not up to par as I should be in my electronic music knowledge, but it seems like every artist who is any artist is at this thing

  35. Daft Punk ;)

  36. Ohh well yea, I can agree with that…Daft Punk/Justice/MSTRKRFT/Etienne De Crecy (look for their live videos) are who I’m holding out for in the final phase, though from what I read/hear…final phase is usually not large groups

However, I wouldn’t say I’m the slightest disappointed with the current lineup. Couldn’t be more excited to fly down from Bmore.

  37. here you go…
    Etienne De Crecy

  38. Any word on a another Hope Recordings party - or more specifically - Jody Wisternoff performing at WMC this year?

  39. Come one Basement Jaxx. ;)

Seriously though, I’m more than happy with the lineup already.

  40. somebody knows the direction of the beach where it will be the event?

  41. Terry-

Feel free to ask. I’ve seen almost all these people before. You have to excuse me, I’m pretty spoiled. There some really good bands that I am really excited to see. There are a lot of people playing that I will be glad I missed.

I will have a good time. That’s no problem. :) Actually, with this line-up, I’ll get to spend more time with the bands I like and less time trying to figure out which one to go to!

  42. Oh yeah…and most of these people play every year, so you don’t have to be “up on your electronic music knowledge” Come on, Tiesto is not news. Although, since he is on Ultra Records, he is a given.

This is my 4th Ultra, so maybe I don’t know anything.

  43. Well yea, I mean I hear that Ultra has the same basic lineup every year and being that this is the first year I’m heading down, I’m pretty excited. Also, because I am now currently more of a fan of the electro bands than I am of trance, drum and bass, etc, I’m drooling over this lineup more than I was when looking at the lineup last year. If repeating the lineup is consistent next year, it’s quite possible I wouldn’t make the trip next year.

But hecate, you still never answered…who is it that you would love to see there that’s not?

  44. I was hoping for someone who hasn’t been there in a while…Chemical Brothers, maybe. Prodigy played in 2006. Moby was there last year. I know to expect lots of repeats…I like it. I’m not really bitching…just spoiled, like I said. I plan on going to Ultra every year they continue to have them because it’s always such a good time.

So, Terry…where are you from? I’m kind of curious what the scene is like in your neck of the woods.

  45. Prodigy may have played in 2006, but this will also be there first US performance since 2006 (I don’t mean since that ultra, they played a few other us shows in 06 later in the year). So since it has been close to three years since they have played in the US, it is still a pretty big deal IMO.

Although I definitely agree on the Chemical Brother. 2010 maybe? =P

  46. Well, I’m from Baltimore. Extremely eclectic scene and although we don’t consistently get great shows like neighboring DC or, a little bit further, Philly, I really like the area for its music, both local stuff and when we happen to get the good shows. Also, it’s a fairly easy trip to either DC or Philly when necessary.

There seems to be a decent electronic and indie scene gaining a lot of attention here lately. There’s now two pretty consistent electronic festivals getting reasonably big names called Starscape Festival and …And Then There Was. The US version of Virgin Fest is also held here and though the main stages are usually many shitty bands, they seem to put together an excellent Dance Tent the last two years. Last year had Moby, Armin, Soulwax, RITM, Richie Hawtin, Ferry, Deadmau5, Chromeo, Erol Alkan, DJ Dan & Donald Glaude, and f-ing (that’s a good f-ing) Underworld.

With our Indie scene, Wham City (basically a set promoters for Bmore art and artists) collective has been striking gold recently as well as other “artsy” bands…Biggest names you may have heard of include Dan Deacon, Ponytail, Beach House, Future Islands, or maybe Videohippos.

Oddly enough, though I don’t get involved with this scene, but there’s also a big death metal scene in the area. Bmore is the annual site of the Maryland Deathfest touted as “North America’s biggest underground metal party”.

I’m pretty sure Bmore hip hop and rap fans would tell you those genre’s are a big deal here since our town is pretty gangsta, but I really know nothing about that particular scene.

However, I’m sure we’re just as diverse as any city.

  47. I was thinking of going to Starscape this year! Last year’s line-up looked really good. (Uberzone is one of my faves!) I may just head up to your neck of the woods this time. I usually go to Bonnaroo around that time but if the rumors of Phish and Springsteen turn out to be true, then I am going to have to find something else to do…
