It won’t give me the exact http address but here is this http://inforoo.com/

Go to “Troo Music Lounge” then “Artist Direct Confirmation Thread” then page 8 of that thread. 2nd last post on that page from a member known as CPK.

Count on getting one classic rock headliner in 2012. Just look at this trend: In 2006 we had Tom Petty. 2007 was the Police. 2008 they skipped it. 2009 was the Boss. 2010 was Stevie Wonder. 2011 they skipped it. Could it be the Stones? Or the Beach Boys? Or the Who? Maybe someone else? It’d be nice to get both the Beach Boys and the Stones because both are celebrating their 50th anniversary’s in 2012. I just don’t feel Beach Boys are headliner material.

Skipped it in 2011?!?!?!?  DID YOU EFFING MISS BUFFALO SPRINFIELD?!?!?!  Possibly the best show of the weekend.

Nate
December 21, 2011 at 10:37 pm

No I was there. Believe it or not I actually forgot about them when I orignally posted that above thing. I think most people look at a Bonnaroo “headliner” as the band playing on the What Stage between 9-midnight. That’s what I was referring to.

Ah, I agree then.  Lets just hope for Bowie.

Was it the best show because of the piss poor sound or just because you saw Neil on stage?
100% NOT the best show of the weekend.

Zack Zepezauer
December 23, 2011 at 4:04 pm

The sound was bad for the first few songs.  After that everything was cleared up and Neil went insane.  Easily the best show I saw.  What do you think was the best performance?

Anyone think the Beach Boys will be there? Just heard they’re touring in 2012 and are playing Jazz Fest. I could care less either way if they’re at ‘roo. But I’m sure they’d go over very well. Not sure they’d be a What Stage headliner though. I think they’re better suited for a late afternoon What Stage slot, like Robert Plant’s from last year. I guess it’s possible they could take Buffalo Springfield’s slot from last year, but I think they’d be much better when the sun is shining. I’m also convinced that Ben Harper will be back in some form, as well as Bon Iver, who will probably get Mumford & Sons spot from last year. Other bands I’m speculating are Phish or TAB as the Sunday jammy headliner, and maybe someone like Radiohead or Foo Fighters, possibly Pearl Jam or Tom Petty again but I doubt it. Leaning mostly towards Foo Fighters (though I fucking can’t stand them) but a lot of people probably think they’re way overdue for this festival. Not sure who the big Saturday headliner could be. Maybe the Beach Boys get that slot. Wouldn’t mind at all if they got someone like Prince or Bowie. Wait a minute…aren’t the Who touring Quadrophenia next year? I bet that’s it. Foo’s on Friday, Who on Saturday, Phish/TAB on Sunday. Beach Boys into Who on Saturday.

Last year everyone was going on and on about how Eminem would be there.  I was like, no this can’t effing happen.  Sure enough, it did, and now the Foo Fighters seem to be in a similar scenario……please no.  If Roo can land Radiohead alone, I’m sold.  If Roo lands David fucking Bowie, I’m buying tickets for ten of my closest friends.  David Bowie is the man, and I would pay damn near anything to see him.

I’m going on the jazz fest Bonnaroo connection with many names booked for both festivals tha past couple years. For example last year arcade fire, Mumford, strokes, plant. I would think foo fighters for sure since they have never played Roo. And one of eagles, Petty, Beach Boys reunion. Along with Bon iver and Fiest

Barely any rumors at this point – apparently just Kasabian and now the Knux, who confirmed it to someone (see Inforoo) – but quite a few have been ruled out due touring and whatever else: Chili Peppers (who cares, they’re way overrated), Coldplay, Widespread, Bjork, Black Sabbath, the Boss (not like he’d be back anyway, at least this soon), Wilco, Andrew Bird, Elvis Costello, Beach House, Washed Out, Franz Ferdinand, Yo La Tengo, Jeff Mangum, Death Cab, Neon Indian. I’d say Roger Waters is a definite no, not with the time it takes to set up/tear down that setup for the Wall.

Zack Zepezauer
December 9, 2011 at 8:17 pm

Saw Widespread already, wouldn’t dare see the Chili Peppers without John Frusciante, and the only ones on this list I really care for are: Roger Waters, Jeff Magnum, and Black Sabbath.  Not too upset overall.  Can probably rule out the Black Keys since they were there the last two years.  They’re my favorite band, but after El Camino I am hoping I am not put into a situation where I am tempted to see them perform.  What a terrible album.

I’m saying Radiohad, RHCP, and Foo Fighters.  Consider – none of these bands play(ed) a Nashville date on their latest tour.  While Nashville may not be the market that New York, Atlanta, LA, Chicago, etc. are, it is still one of the most important music markets.  Super Fly/AC likely have a clause in their contracts that prevents them from playing in the surrounding markets so many days prior to Bonnaroo without their approval.  Makes sense…

Nice!  We camped at the Mr. Miyagi site last year so we actually used the same entrance as you guys.  I was curious as to where that path led, but now I know.  How do I go about getting this early bird deal?  I already got my ticket back in June and I would love to be in the same area(we were under trees!!!!).  I just don’t like how Which stage seems crammed in.  Even setting it back 1500 ft or so would be nice.

Hey Zach, from what I’ve gathered over the years the “back section” is just what they just start filling up first.  Ive been getting to the Farm on Wednesday night around 6-7pm and that just happens to be the first section they fill, its not really a “early bird special”.  It makes for a hike to get to the farther parts of centeroo, but the time saved at the main gates is worth it.  Shawnkings, i’ve never, ever been stopped going through these gates, literally i walk right through.  I guess it’s hit or miss, but ive also learned a lot of tricks over my 10 years of bonnaroo fun!  The section is nice back there though because there are lots of trees,  in 09 my site was the last one next to the woods, talk about perfect, we had a backyard!  Last year the parking volunteers filled up the parking sections AND the side roads, so instead of a grid, we had shit everywhere, i felt bad for the people who you had to slightly disrupt to get in and out of our site, but you find a good path and stick to it!

I find it curious that Electric Daisy and Bonnaroo are the same weekend this year (per COS festival schedule) … I really thought that with the increasing popularity of the electronic/dubstep scene (and the crowds people like Skrillex and Deadmau5 have drawn) that we would see our first electronic headliner at Bonnaroo in 2012 (Daft Punk, anyone) … with a focus on bringing in top electronic talent across the board for the late nights … but if Superfly/AC is going to run into a bidding war/scheduling nightmare with EDC and Insomniac, i don’t see this electronic theme being pulled off easily… so does that open up a window for a return to the jam heavy lineups of the golden days (at least late night)? I sure hope so … Phish, Furthur, Neil Young, Foo Fighters, 311, Bon Iver, Avett Brothers, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, moe, SCI, DSO, Manu Chao … it’s still early enough to think unrealistically :-)

hahahhahah
December 24, 2011 at 7:31 am

you bring up a good point ….you will definitely being seeing alot more electronic/dubstep acts billed higher up on alot of the major  festivals this year being that they have been drawing major crowds in even small markets. 2012 is going to be very heavy on dubstep ……not overly excited about it but its becoming the most money producing genre over the past year

Nah, I was only fantasizing about a winding path through the woods that would lead to a stage off in some clearing.  Sort of a nostalgic effect.  The sound was an issue for only the first few songs of Buffalo Springfield, otherwise I was more than content.  The layout just seems crammed to me.

Nate
November 18, 2011 at 4:41 am

@Hatman Funny you mention a path. I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of the media down there the past three years and all of that behind the stage – I’m assuming you’re talking about a path that would lead from Which to What – all of that is the media and artist area, so no way they could/would do it. The first two years I attended Bonnaroo just as a general concert goer, and I feel for everyone who (still) has to deal with the traffic leading between What and Which. What I did like about the Which Stage this year, which I think we can all agree on, was the addition of the video screen and the fact that they expanded the field area by knocking down a wall on the right side on the side closer to the Cinema and Comedy tents. For whatever reason, sound is a huge issue on the Which Stage year after year, though I had no problems hearing any of the bands that played on that stage. However, when I was recently watching Bela’s performance from the Vevo archives of Bonnaroo this past year, even on the video you notice the sound issues.

Just some of my guesses; not what I want. Drake-Friday, RHCP-Saturday, Dave and Friends- Sunday. I would expect Florence& the Machine to make a return, similar to how they treated Phoenix in 2010 after 2009’s huge show, and then Mumford in 2011 after 2010’s huge show.  Puscifer is about to do a show in Knoxville; same timing as when AC had NIN in knoxville. Sublime w/Rome is gaining a lot of respect and would make a great daytime show.  311 and Mos Def are due for an appearance.  And probably Daft Punk/Led Zeppelin cover “In Rainbows.”
