Just some of my guesses; not what I want. Drake-Friday, RHCP-Saturday, Dave and Friends- Sunday. I would expect Florence& the Machine to make a return, similar to how they treated Phoenix in 2010 after 2009′s huge show, and then Mumford in 2011 after 2010′s huge show.  Puscifer is about to do a show in Knoxville; same timing as when AC had NIN in knoxville. Sublime w/Rome is gaining a lot of respect and would make a great daytime show.  311 and Mos Def are due for an appearance.  And probably Daft Punk/Led Zeppelin cover “In Rainbows.”

November 2, 2011 at 11:15 pm

Roger Waters.

November 4, 2011 at 3:08 pm

Saturday of Bonnaroo is open for Roger Waters, doubtful, but I’ll keep my hopes up!

November 8, 2011 at 4:13 pm

No Roger Waters..he’s playing in Nashville at Bridgestone in June

November 16, 2011 at 5:51 pm

Why is everyone over looking the Foo Fighters? They will be on the bill for Bonnaroo 2012, write it down

@Hatman Funny you mention a path. I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of the media down there the past three years and all of that behind the stage – I’m assuming you’re talking about a path that would lead from Which to What – all of that is the media and artist area, so no way they could/would do it. The first two years I attended Bonnaroo just as a general concert goer, and I feel for everyone who (still) has to deal with the traffic leading between What and Which. What I did like about the Which Stage this year, which I think we can all agree on, was the addition of the video screen and the fact that they expanded the field area by knocking down a wall on the right side on the side closer to the Cinema and Comedy tents. For whatever reason, sound is a huge issue on the Which Stage year after year, though I had no problems hearing any of the bands that played on that stage. However, when I was recently watching Bela’s performance from the Vevo archives of Bonnaroo this past year, even on the video you notice the sound issues.

November 22, 2011 at 4:37 pm

Nah, I was only fantasizing about a winding path through the woods that would lead to a stage off in some clearing.  Sort of a nostalgic effect.  The sound was an issue for only the first few songs of Buffalo Springfield, otherwise I was more than content.  The layout just seems crammed to me.

November 30, 2011 at 9:24 pm

I find it curious that Electric Daisy and Bonnaroo are the same weekend this year (per COS festival schedule) … I really thought that with the increasing popularity of the electronic/dubstep scene (and the crowds people like Skrillex and Deadmau5 have drawn) that we would see our first electronic headliner at Bonnaroo in 2012 (Daft Punk, anyone) … with a focus on bringing in top electronic talent across the board for the late nights … but if Superfly/AC is going to run into a bidding war/scheduling nightmare with EDC and Insomniac, i don’t see this electronic theme being pulled off easily… so does that open up a window for a return to the jam heavy lineups of the golden days (at least late night)? I sure hope so … Phish, Furthur, Neil Young, Foo Fighters, 311, Bon Iver, Avett Brothers, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, moe, SCI, DSO, Manu Chao … it’s still early enough to think unrealistically :-)

December 24, 2011 at 7:31 am

you bring up a good point ….you will definitely being seeing alot more electronic/dubstep acts billed higher up on alot of the major  festivals this year being that they have been drawing major crowds in even small markets. 2012 is going to be very heavy on dubstep ……not overly excited about it but its becoming the most money producing genre over the past year

November 30, 2011 at 9:26 pm

OH! and The Raconteurs (or anything Jack White wants to do)…

December 2, 2011 at 12:27 am

Nice!  We camped at the Mr. Miyagi site last year so we actually used the same entrance as you guys.  I was curious as to where that path led, but now I know.  How do I go about getting this early bird deal?  I already got my ticket back in June and I would love to be in the same area(we were under trees!!!!).  I just don’t like how Which stage seems crammed in.  Even setting it back 1500 ft or so would be nice.

Damn!  I guess I’m a member now, haha.

December 5, 2011 at 6:46 pm

Hey Zach, from what I’ve gathered over the years the “back section” is just what they just start filling up first.  Ive been getting to the Farm on Wednesday night around 6-7pm and that just happens to be the first section they fill, its not really a “early bird special”.  It makes for a hike to get to the farther parts of centeroo, but the time saved at the main gates is worth it.  Shawnkings, i’ve never, ever been stopped going through these gates, literally i walk right through.  I guess it’s hit or miss, but ive also learned a lot of tricks over my 10 years of bonnaroo fun!  The section is nice back there though because there are lots of trees,  in 09 my site was the last one next to the woods, talk about perfect, we had a backyard!  Last year the parking volunteers filled up the parking sections AND the side roads, so instead of a grid, we had shit everywhere, i felt bad for the people who you had to slightly disrupt to get in and out of our site, but you find a good path and stick to it!

December 4, 2011 at 3:52 pm

I’m saying Radiohad, RHCP, and Foo Fighters.  Consider – none of these bands play(ed) a Nashville date on their latest tour.  While Nashville may not be the market that New York, Atlanta, LA, Chicago, etc. are, it is still one of the most important music markets.  Super Fly/AC likely have a clause in their contracts that prevents them from playing in the surrounding markets so many days prior to Bonnaroo without their approval.  Makes sense…

December 8, 2011 at 2:22 am

If it’s just Radiohead and randomass street musician bums on the lineup I’ll be more than happy.

Will Smith
December 8, 2011 at 3:30 pm

I just wanna let y’all know, we’ll be gettin’ jiggy wit it every night of Bonnaroo.  Woo!

December 13, 2011 at 9:04 am

Will DJ Jazzy Jeff be there too? A reunion with you two performing 1988′s “He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper” in its entirety? This is what the public is clamoring for!!

Zack Zepezauer
December 8, 2011 at 6:07 pm

I want leaks!!!!!!!!!!!!

December 8, 2011 at 10:53 pm

Barely any rumors at this point – apparently just Kasabian and now the Knux, who confirmed it to someone (see Inforoo) – but quite a few have been ruled out due touring and whatever else: Chili Peppers (who cares, they’re way overrated), Coldplay, Widespread, Bjork, Black Sabbath, the Boss (not like he’d be back anyway, at least this soon), Wilco, Andrew Bird, Elvis Costello, Beach House, Washed Out, Franz Ferdinand, Yo La Tengo, Jeff Mangum, Death Cab, Neon Indian. I’d say Roger Waters is a definite no, not with the time it takes to set up/tear down that setup for the Wall.

Zack Zepezauer
December 9, 2011 at 8:17 pm

Saw Widespread already, wouldn’t dare see the Chili Peppers without John Frusciante, and the only ones on this list I really care for are: Roger Waters, Jeff Magnum, and Black Sabbath.  Not too upset overall.  Can probably rule out the Black Keys since they were there the last two years.  They’re my favorite band, but after El Camino I am hoping I am not put into a situation where I am tempted to see them perform.  What a terrible album.

December 22, 2011 at 5:40 pm

i saw the wall. it’s buit during the show, then torn down at the end. those blocks are just styrofoam encased in cardboard… but he wont be there simply because hes doing it in nashville on the 19th.

December 14, 2011 at 10:44 pm

lineup is terrible

December 15, 2011 at 2:21 am

With Foo Fighters doing festivals in May I think we should expect them.

December 16, 2011 at 6:54 pm

I’m going on the jazz fest Bonnaroo connection with many names booked for both festivals tha past couple years. For example last year arcade fire, Mumford, strokes, plant. I would think foo fighters for sure since they have never played Roo. And one of eagles, Petty, Beach Boys reunion. Along with Bon iver and Fiest

schmails and i never slice
December 16, 2011 at 3:26 pm

its time for the wu-tang clan! late night!

December 16, 2011 at 7:24 pm

Anyone think the Beach Boys will be there? Just heard they’re touring in 2012 and are playing Jazz Fest. I could care less either way if they’re at ‘roo. But I’m sure they’d go over very well. Not sure they’d be a What Stage headliner though. I think they’re better suited for a late afternoon What Stage slot, like Robert Plant’s from last year. I guess it’s possible they could take Buffalo Springfield’s slot from last year, but I think they’d be much better when the sun is shining. I’m also convinced that Ben Harper will be back in some form, as well as Bon Iver, who will probably get Mumford & Sons spot from last year. Other bands I’m speculating are Phish or TAB as the Sunday jammy headliner, and maybe someone like Radiohead or Foo Fighters, possibly Pearl Jam or Tom Petty again but I doubt it. Leaning mostly towards Foo Fighters (though I fucking can’t stand them) but a lot of people probably think they’re way overdue for this festival. Not sure who the big Saturday headliner could be. Maybe the Beach Boys get that slot. Wouldn’t mind at all if they got someone like Prince or Bowie. Wait a minute…aren’t the Who touring Quadrophenia next year? I bet that’s it. Foo’s on Friday, Who on Saturday, Phish/TAB on Sunday. Beach Boys into Who on Saturday.

Zack Zepezauer
December 19, 2011 at 11:18 pm

Last year everyone was going on and on about how Eminem would be there.  I was like, no this can’t effing happen.  Sure enough, it did, and now the Foo Fighters seem to be in a similar scenario……please no.  If Roo can land Radiohead alone, I’m sold.  If Roo lands David fucking Bowie, I’m buying tickets for ten of my closest friends.  David Bowie is the man, and I would pay damn near anything to see him.

December 18, 2011 at 7:31 pm

Count on getting one classic rock headliner in 2012. Just look at this trend: In 2006 we had Tom Petty. 2007 was the Police. 2008 they skipped it. 2009 was the Boss. 2010 was Stevie Wonder. 2011 they skipped it. Could it be the Stones? Or the Beach Boys? Or the Who? Maybe someone else? It’d be nice to get both the Beach Boys and the Stones because both are celebrating their 50th anniversary’s in 2012. I just don’t feel Beach Boys are headliner material.

Zack Zepezauer
December 19, 2011 at 11:10 pm

Skipped it in 2011?!?!?!?  DID YOU EFFING MISS BUFFALO SPRINFIELD?!?!?!  Possibly the best show of the weekend.

December 21, 2011 at 10:37 pm

No I was there. Believe it or not I actually forgot about them when I orignally posted that above thing. I think most people look at a Bonnaroo “headliner” as the band playing on the What Stage between 9-midnight. That’s what I was referring to.

Zack Zepezauer
December 22, 2011 at 6:26 am

Ah, I agree then.  Lets just hope for Bowie.

Matthewwp Mcmullen
December 22, 2011 at 4:01 pm

Was it the best show because of the piss poor sound or just because you saw Neil on stage?
100% NOT the best show of the weekend.

Zack Zepezauer
December 23, 2011 at 4:04 pm

The sound was bad for the first few songs.  After that everything was cleared up and Neil went insane.  Easily the best show I saw.  What do you think was the best performance?

December 27, 2011 at 3:17 pm

guarantee or money back?

December 28, 2011 at 5:47 pm

Why or how can you hate the foo fighters?  They’re the best band around today.  Not to mention how cool they are.  They played in people garages this year.  What other bands as big as them would ever do that?

December 28, 2011 at 10:10 pm

Well the peeps @ inforoo have given us nothing but pretentious fake lineups… such as : Phish Prince Beach Boys The Eagles as headliners?, i could see one or two of them headlining. Inforooers are quite out of touch with what this festival has become and where it is heading. The Demographic is 21-30 year olds who listen to popular modern music whether you want it to be or not. I’m sorry but if you think The Eagles and The Beach Boys are going to bring in the ticket buyers, you must be marketing toward my grandparents…. you guys at inforoo can bicker about which out of date lineup its going to be just to be let down in February, but I, like everyone else who will go will be delighted when artists from this century are on the lineup… but keep praying for The Eagles Prince Beach Boys Van Halen and what ever other dinosaurs you could imagine making bonnaroo smell like mothballs………… p.s. COS rules and is the only credible source.. well besides ‘insider’, but she only comes in January anyway!

December 29, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Bonnaroo will sell 80,000 tickets regardless of who’s playing. I think you’d be surprised at how many of those 80,000 people would actually love to see the Beach Boys there. I’m with you on where you stand about Van Halen – god that’d just be awful – but I think Prince and the Eagles would put on great shows. Prince would be much more of a show though. And yes I said the Eagles. So everybody reading please bring on the Big Lebowski quote we’ve all heard a billion times. Seriously, it never gets old. The good news for you guys is that the Eagles probably don’t ever stand a chance to headline Bonnaroo and Prince is probably pretty unlikely too. Kinda hard to imagine who might be the big names this year. Not sure the Stones, Paul McCartney or Roger Waters will ever happen, and I still think it’s too soon for Radiohead to return. Even though I can’t stand Dave Grohl or the Foo Fighters I think they’re probably gonna get the Friday night spot. I don’t care for Muse either but seems like they’re long overdue for Bonnaroo. I believe they were ruled out or something, as was Coldplay and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I’m ready to see the lineup already.

December 30, 2011 at 2:19 am

What is this insider site you talk of?

December 30, 2011 at 11:59 pm

insider is a guest on inforoo, she has delivered the goods on the lineup prior to it being officially released

January 1, 2012 at 4:27 pm

Sorry to burst yr bubble, Tone, but where do you think COS gets its Roomers & confirmations from??  The die-hard board members of Inforoo.  Insider is just one of the many long-time fans who happens to be privy to solid sources.  She has recently confirmed two of our speculated headliners which have been discussed for months and long-accepted. Nice try stereotyping the entire board as dinosaur-loving, out of touch hippies.  Actually, most of us cringe at the mention of Eagles and Van Halen headlining and would much rather have bands like Animal Collective, MMJ & Radiohead.  But when Phish and The Beach Boys are added to the sacred list above you, you can stick yr head back in the sand and pretend we didn’t tell ya that months ago.

January 3, 2012 at 4:14 am

Inforooers speculate the same Radiohead-Prince-Phish lineup every year!, youre talking like you guys have some inside info besides tweeting and emailing the smaller bands… inforoo has 1 or 2 members with any concrete evidence, the rest of the board posts hypothetical unrealistic lineups that will never happen and then they argue whether Skrillex or Deadmau5 will LN the Which Stage. The fact that some of you think the Foo Fighters or the Chili Peppers would be billed below Phish is insulting and ignorant, its 2012.. ask any 21-30 year old if Phish is bigger than either of those bands and youll be surprised to find out that jam bands are dead… sure Phish is still huge and will headline Sunday, but i clearly remember almost everyone leaving before Widespread Panic came one.. and thats because Bonnaroo has changed and will either progress or fall behind Coachella and Lollpalooza…. And Don’t Dis COS, they post realistic rumours with at least some evidence to back it up, not some ‘maybe’ tweet or here-say.

January 3, 2012 at 3:51 pm

what are you providing? quit your whining. The Silent Comedy link from CoS is taken from an inforooer. The Kooks are only listed because they are touring with Foster the People who have a gap in tour dates so not sure how you can act like CoS is the master site for lineup leaks.

January 4, 2012 at 4:50 am

Regular, everyday, know-nothing Inforooers took it upon themselves to tweet/e-mail bands directly for possible confirmations.  They do the leg-work for sites like COS.  A few of those responses will be showing up here shortly, while you are wetting your lips for some imaginary internship with this web-site.

Were you once scorned by the board?  Why the pissiness?

Whether most fans stay for closing sets from Phish or WSP is inconsequential.  They’re welcomed back for those jam fans.  Please don’t worry about Roo being left behind, Tone.  They’ll still book the Foos and Chilis for visionary folks like you.

January 6, 2012 at 4:21 am

Bonnaroo clues have started. First clue appears to be Mogwai. Here’s the link:

January 6, 2012 at 6:31 pm

Chalk another one up for Inforoo.  Who’s providing the line-up info, Tony?

January 7, 2012 at 4:54 pm

Alex you can add Mogwai to expected or rumored, they were the answer to the first Roo clue confirmed by Garychardonnay

January 9, 2012 at 5:09 pm

At the Drive-In reunion + Bonnaroo would = a happy me. With The Mars Volta having made two killer appearances at Roo, I can at least speculate it as a possibility … they’ve been known to pull in bands reuniting … will have to keep an eye out to see if they end up on any other festy bills…

January 10, 2012 at 9:50 pm

Cage the Elephant & Black Lips have confirmed via twitter to Inforoo.

January 11, 2012 at 12:11 pm

Highly doubt Bowie at Roo.

January 11, 2012 at 10:44 pm

Yeah, drop Bowie, add Foo Fighters.  Be realistic.  The others are solid bets.

January 11, 2012 at 11:00 pm

so my dad plays bass for Lil Jon & the Eastside Boyz and knows David Bowie pretty good. He said Bowie is a lock for Bonnaroo. He also heard there would be a Smiths reunion.

January 13, 2012 at 9:42 am

You’re a dirty effing liar lol

January 13, 2012 at 10:03 am

Your on crack if you think Bonnaroo would get BOTH of these! If the Smiths were to play ANYWHERE it would be Coachella.

January 12, 2012 at 12:48 am

I’d say wait until April 1st to post that nonsense, but the Bonnaroo lineup is already out by then. We’ll be lucky to get both Phish and the Beach Boys in the same year at Bonnaroo. My bet is they put the Beach Boys as the Saturday headliner (even though they’d be much better as a late afternoon act), Red Hot Chili Peppers or Foo Fighters on Friday, and Phish closes it out on Sunday.

If you think Buffalo Springfield was a worthy headliner or pre-headliner, but the Beach Boys are not, you, my friend, know absolutely nothing about music and some of the greatest influences in popular music.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear to be a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.

January 13, 2012 at 10:50 am

Umm Buffalo Springfield didn’t headline. Sure the Beach Boys could preheadline but they won’t headline a day. I won’t be there to watch it.

January 13, 2012 at 1:46 pm

Beach Boys are playing Jazz Fest in NOLA, and Brian Wilson will be there with them, so I wouldn’t downplay their set too much. Pet Sounds will most definitely make it in there.

January 16, 2012 at 8:17 am

Confirmed!? Haha, because someone posted phish=yes? Led Zeppelin=yes….run with it

January 16, 2012 at 9:21 am

Um, yes it actually does mean it’s confirmed. Where do you think COS gets it’s information from anyways? THey don’t actually do any of the work themselves. They troll Inforoo.

January 16, 2012 at 9:32 am

Mike, the same person that confirmed

January 16, 2012 at 9:36 am

Mike, the same person that confirmed Phish told everyone about My Morning Jacket and Arcade Fire going to be on Friday, The Black Keys going to pre-headline Saturday and Widespread Panic going to close last year.  She’s proven reliable so yes, it’s a confirmation.

January 16, 2012 at 2:27 pm

Well i didn’t want too get excited for a big let down when they are not in the lineup, BUT if this person has some credibility then keep em coming!!  Very surprising though that a band like Phish gets leaked…must have some other big things happening!

January 17, 2012 at 9:01 am

id say go ahead and count girl talk in,,,,,, he is playing columbus on june 8th.

January 17, 2012 at 10:00 am

Roger Waters is logical for Saturday Night Girl Talk is in Columbus on the 8th and Pitt on the 9th, so possible Thursday?

January 17, 2012 at 11:38 am

So sounds like he won’t be ther at all then. With Friday and Saturay booked no late night for him.

January 18, 2012 at 1:54 am

Waters doesn’t have anything booked on that Saturday night. He’s in Chicago that Friday and Louisville on Sunday. He also plays Monday in Indy. As much as I’d like to have him there, I just think it’s a pipe dream. I just don’t seem him doing 4 nights in a row. Originally I thought maybe he could do Bonnaroo without that stage setup he’s using for The Wall, but wouldn’t that be pointless? I mean they do start setting that stage up at between 3 and 6 in the morning the day before the show or something, at least that’s what I’ve heard. It’s really a shame too. I mean when is the next time Waters will be in this part of the country during Bonnaroo? Probably never. I’m sure this is the last leg of The Wall tour; he has been touring it since last year. It’s not like he tours every single year, year after year. Most likely he won’t go back on tour for 3-4 years, and that’s even if he does again. All I know is if Bonnaroo misses out on Waters this year, they will have missed out on something truly great. I’ve seen a lot of bands over just the past 15 years, but nothing comes remotely close to what experiencing Waters is like.

January 18, 2012 at 9:27 am

I was talking about Girl Talk but Roger Waters isn’t going to happen either.

raoul duke
January 18, 2012 at 12:11 pm

they build the bulk of the stage during the show. and they did revamp it to play outside venues! that being said… not gonna happen. he’s in nashville a few weeks later.

January 18, 2012 at 5:43 pm

Good point, I hadn’t noticed that Waters was only playing 2-3 nights a week. Guess that leaves Radiohead or RHCP as the proboard’s rumored “R” headliner.

Caleb Adams
January 19, 2012 at 11:03 am

Death Cab could be a possibility since their European tour stops on the 7th, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for a set this year.

January 19, 2012 at 12:57 pm

Go on …. for the clues my thoughts were
Trained: a cloth sack state of mind. Savor the queen’s delight. – Foo Fighters (Cloth Sack = Budai, dave grohl trained in Nirvana, played in QOTSA, not crazy about this but it fits with other rumors)

“The original simpleton; misspell the mini-liar.”  - Tune Yards – Album – bird brains, plays a ukelele, pretty likely for a huge tour this summer

January 20, 2012 at 10:08 am

Go ahead and add RHCP:

06/06 Cincinnati, OH | US Bank Arena | On sale 1/27
06/07 Louisville, KY | KFC Yum Center | On sale 1/28

Andy Morgan
January 20, 2012 at 11:50 am

Hmmmm, yes, very disappointing.  I saw them before for Stadium Arcadium and they are just not my cup of tea.
Stinks for Bonnaroo to get a headliner that I am in no way interested in see/hearing.  Of course, Bonnaroo doesn’t book bands only to please me.  RHCP’d do appear to have many fans, so I’m sure lots of folks will be happy.  Plus I might be able to find some of that all-too-elusive “sleep” stuff I keep hearing people talk about there.

Hopefully Radiohead will still be there and all of that Atoms for Peace talk will materialize.
It would more than make up for this… IF this ends up happening.

January 20, 2012 at 2:09 pm

I see RHCP having a lead in spot not the top spot, there any way, maybe another festival they might close it out.

January 22, 2012 at 9:22 pm

Good God. If Radiohead is not playing and Sasquatch has a decent lineup, I’m totally going there this year instead. And from now on, totally buying Coachella tickets before they sell out. I’m done being disappointed by Bonnaroo. RHCP CANNOT be the main rock act!

January 22, 2012 at 9:29 pm

Has anyone else heard that Jeff Buckley is coming back from the dead to play the pre-headliner spot on Friday night?

January 22, 2012 at 11:59 pm

You can add Fitz and the Trantrums as rumored via facebook

Yeah, Nashville on the 5th would be that reason.

It’s quite rare, and more often than not, a nashville date makes Roo less likely.

Chalk one more up a message board built solely for the purpose of discussing one single festival, unlike CoS.  A single festival message board who also has said festival’s official website linking directly to it.

“McDonald’s Festival just landed the Hamburglars for the Saturday night slot… You can thank the sleuths over at McDownload’s for doing all the legwork for you, Consequence of Sound, you lazy bastards… or have things other than just McDonald’s Fest on your plate.  But yeah, YOU’RE WELCOME!”

We get it, so shut the fuck up already.

January 27, 2012 at 11:21 am

Echutah, way to be a Debbie Downer.

Bonnaroo’s a good-vibes festival. You’re clearly lacking those good vibes. Don’t shit on everyone’s good time. Don’t go if you’re gonna have that attitude.

132 days…

January 27, 2012 at 11:57 am

No doubt Bonnaroo is a good-vibes festival, Chezik.

I have been to Bonnaroo many many times.  My point, which apparently was missed, is that, yes, we understand that a huge and important source for these rumors on CoS are from inforoo and the people of inforoo and all the good work and discussions going on their – but, there are apparently some DB’s who insist on inferring that CoS is slow in reporting/won’t just go ahead and “confirm” artists (even though many of us know the source of the “confirmations” has always been right on the money)… we get all that, so why keep bringing it up?

That was my point.  Perhaps CoS doesn’t have the resources to focus entirely on one festival, since they cover hundreds of them.  To keep bringing up inforoo as a superior source for breaking the bands to be at Bonnaroo is monotonous, and beating a dead horse.  We get it.  Get over it.

Come here to share info, not to bash the sight.

I hope my point is more clearly understandable now.  And I hope it is more apparent now the OP to my original reply was the ODD (original Debbie Downer).

EMA confirmed via inforoo. get on the ball CoS…

Alex Young
January 30, 2012 at 3:58 pm

It’s not a matter of getting on the ball. EMA may very well be playing. We just aren’t going to use second-hand sourced emails as confirmation. Not to mention its not super ethical.

Funky Tonight
January 30, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Sure because running a Bonnaroo rumors website for profit based on gleaning info from a non profit dedicated message board with tons of huge fans is really ethical as well huh?   I think you should reconsider questioning inforoos ethics.

Alex Young
January 30, 2012 at 7:43 pm

I didn’t say Inforoo was unethical. But I’m not condoning information gathered solely from fabricated emails, tricking booking agents that we have a working relationship with.

Also, we don’t glean off from Inforoo. Rather, it’s a resource, which we link to. Gleaning would suggest we don’t credit the website, which is far from the truth. We have championed Inforoo and its members for many years.

As for your other point, CoS is much more than a Bonnaroo rumors website. Festival Outlook is a database comprising information on thousands of festivals around the world. And that’s just a portion of the total CoS experience.

January 30, 2012 at 10:18 pm

How exactly are these emails “fabricated” or “tricking” booking agents?

Boba Fett’s Dick
January 31, 2012 at 10:51 am

It’s not “tricking” when it’s Joe Schmoe on Inforoo doing it to the booking agent.  It would damage a relationship and or possibly be unethical to have someone from a reputable site like CoS get privileged and somewhat-to-very confidential information from an agent that this CoS representative has an actual real-life working relationship of sorts with.

Just because some knucklehead on Inforoo says he got an email back from so-and-so’s manager, does not mean so-and-so’s band will be there, because A) the manager has no real relationship with the Inforoo’er, thus no reason to risk anything if some sort of confidentiality agreement has been signed, B) some Inforoo knucklehead was just flat-out lying (we call these people “trolls” on the internet in case you didn’t know) and never really contacted anyone, C) some Inforoo knucklehead may have thought they tweeted the official band site but didn’t, or D, E, & F) any number of other unverifiable reasons… Black Star anyone?

The point is that there is no way to verify a lot of the stuff other than simply taking the Inforoo’er’s word for it.  And don’t get me wrong; personally, I think a lot of the stuff “confirmed” by Inforoo’er’s is probably accurate.  But thank God CoS has the backbone to stand up and weed through most of the unverifiable chaff that is presented on Inforoo as fact.  This is why many of us come here: to see what is actual, what is extrememly likely, what is logical, without having to wade through all of the mock line-ups, animated .tif’s, discussions about people’s college majors, or pages and pages of that fucking show the Wire being discussed (not even in the top ten TV series of all time so let it go).

(edit: The Katy Perry .tif if pretty goood, I have to admit)

Some (not all, or not even most, really) of the Inforoo’ers here on CoS just seem to be so sensitive about this whole rumors thing and taking credit and throwing so much shit against the wall, when in reality, if you spend as much time on Inforoo as it seems you must, then you know everything I’ve said up there is true.

Inforoo is great.  Inforoo and the people on it break a ton of great info and are an invaluable resource.  There are great Roo fans there.

Unfortunately, it also has it’s fair share of trolls, disinformation specialists, and plain old assholes as well.  Anyone who spends any time on Inforooo (or any other message board) knows this.

Thanks for being a little discriminate, CoS.

January 31, 2012 at 2:10 pm

“or pages and pages of that fucking show the Wire being discussed (not even in the top ten TV series of all time so let it go).”
Kill yourself.

“ This is why many of us come here: to see what is actual, what is extrememly likely, what is logical.”

January 30, 2012 at 11:01 pm

Your site really is the best of it’s kind. I don’t know what i did before it came to be. Thanks for all you do!

January 30, 2012 at 7:40 pm

Ethical? Emailing agents a yay/nay question is not a matter of ethics. Nobody in the thread has pretended to be booking the bands for a show to get an answer. Mass emails will eventually lead to a couple of responses. I’d definitely put more trust in 2 confirmation emails from the same agent than guessing The Kooks will be there because they are touring with FTP. No worries though line comes out the 14th.

January 30, 2012 at 7:41 pm

We’re literally giving you the information to help you and you won’t use it, which only drives people away from your site. Why would people come here if you don’t update with breaking fest lineup info that others have? Especially on some of the hugest fests in the country.

For example, there was a huge leak on the Sasquatch website this weekend. But you haven’t updated with those bands, even the ones there are screenshots of. I even offered to email you guys confirmations I received from agents, but never heard back. What constitutes evidence on this site is often very iffy, so I’d think that emails from agents, culled by fans dedicated to a festival, would at least garner a “rumored” update.

You cite ethics in fans emailing directly asking if a band is playing, yet also use insider, someone who is leaking the headliners without permission, as a source. You often cite the inforoo board as a source for evidence, which is cool, and all I’m saying is you should take even more advantage of our legwork haha. I guess I don’t understand where your conception of journalistic ethics start and begin. Putting something down as “unethical” without explanation just doesn’t cut it. I love and respect your site, but I personally feel you’re really dropping the ball on this.

Good luck with everything, Alex. I hope you’re making the right decision for your site. I’ll still read it every day, as I feel it’s the premiere hub for festival info. I use it all the time to decide which fests I attend and to build my excitement for them. For that I thank you. Cheers!

Alex Young
January 30, 2012 at 7:45 pm

Re: Bonnaroo — Se my below comment.

Re: Sasquatch! — We reached out to the festival’s representation, and they suggested that not all the artists appearing in the ‘leak’ would appear in the final lineup, which is why we’re holding off.

January 30, 2012 at 8:05 pm

Thanks for the Sasquatch info, dude. As for Roo, we just disagree haha. I know you take a lot of shit, but in the end you’re really just helping us fuel our passion, and I think most respect what you’re doing here. Good luck with it all..

February 1, 2012 at 12:16 pm

Who needs to take a class in ethics?

February 1, 2012 at 12:49 pm

Why on earth would I need a class in ethics? If you bothered to go to inforoo and read my screen shot you would see that I wasnt pretending to be anyone other than a fan. Ever hear the saying “think before you speak”?
Now hopefully you can contribute to these boards and other boards like inforoo like I have been doing instead of being a troll that shoots from the hip with your idiotic comments.

Being a philosophy major, I agree with Landskapes.  DOWN WITH TROLLS!

Renee Wahlheim
January 31, 2012 at 3:36 pm

I attended my 1st Bonnaroo (2009), I must admit, out of curiosity… I wanted to understand why people were drawn to such a festival, not to mention the discomforts they went through while attending!  That year, I came home with a realization that Bonnaroo is not just about music, but also about meeting people from all walks of life, & most important, that Bonnaroo is a place for a sense of freedom! Those 4 days, whether you’re someone who saved all year to attend, or a Wall Street Banker, all become equals once we drive onto that farm in Manchester, TN.

Why the fuss about who will be in the line-up? Or why CoS didn’t add your thoughts on who will be there?

I have it on good authority Wilco will not be at Bonnaroo 2012 (via their tour manager in Chicago), and, that Cage The Elephant will be playing at Bonnaroo 2012… per Matt Schulz (12/2011).

Caleb Adams

“The Wire”, was the best show ever on TV! I come here (CoS) for 2 reasons; 1- for someone else to do the leg work and tell me that Roger Waters has Friday free or that Pearl Jam starts a tour right after Bonnaroo and it is possible that they could do a jump start at Bonnaroo. 2- to hear what you kids will bitch about! This year it is how Inforoo rules and how CoS won’t post your emails. Whatever happened to the guy who wanted to fight everyone and said to meet him at the fountain, that he would be wearing a “Illinois State Tech Community College hat, and some sort of Tye Dye?” He ruled! I think he was 2009′s CoS MVP.

Deeeezzzzz Nuttttzzzzz, just sent CoS an email saying that Snoop and Dre will be there. Insider just blew me while humming “Purple Rain,” so we should confirm Prince. Or was that a cry for help?

February 7, 2012 at 11:39 am

I’m still alive and well. Lurking in the shadows. I didn’t want to fight EVERYONE. Just some stupid fucker who had to be right about John Mayer never playing bonnaroo. I failed to realize John Mayer was a part of Herbie Hancocks headhunters. While I wasn’t nesscesarily wrong, I wasn’t right either. And sometimes just by the way people write its hard to interpret how they’re saying it, and from that guys comment made me feel like I didn’t have any clue what-so-ever what I was talking about. I hate that. I let that dude get te best of me and acted irrationally in public. It was pretty lame. But the fact that you remembered is hilarious and kind of made my day. And that’s exactly what this site is intended to do. Bring together a bunch of idiots who don’t exist in the music industry on a level any higher than a spectator. I’m not a violent person by any stretch and I’ll be the first to admit, I would lose in a fight.

On that note. It was a black NIU hat and a rothbury tye-die bitch! Don’t disrespect my school. I’ll fuckin fight you anytime/anyplace.

people really care about something that none of them can control.  Why not just wait for the lineup and then talk about the great weekend ahead of us.  These people probably throw rocks at the TV when the weatherman is on because they are getting conflicting reports about the weather for the weekend too.  But i bet inforoo knows what the weather will be like because they are way “on it”.  There you go inforoo puff your chest, i gave you kudos.

February 7, 2012 at 6:52 pm

sounds good except Cornell is a no, Soundgarden is in Europe that weekend so he’s kinda booked

February 8, 2012 at 11:53 am

forgot about the soundgarden tour. i could see primus or al green coming back for another year though, which would be nice. i also hear the black keys have left off a nashville date on their tour, so yet another (headlining this time) bonnaroo appearance seems likely for them as well.

Dale Gribble
February 7, 2012 at 11:26 pm

This seems kinda plausible when you take out Cornell because of what pokie said, take out Primus because they headlined last year, and take out Al Green because he was there a few years ago. Radiohead, RHCP, Dre/Snoop, Phish, Jack White, Vedder, Beck, Avett, Bon Iver, and Yonder; looks like something that could really happen. I wonder if they would have Beck open for Radiohead again? I would, that shit was awesome!

Before you start shitting your pants because I said Primus headlined; relax, you know what the fuck I mean.

Other than the fact that that lineup is rediculously unrealistic and stupid, it says right below the poster “A little poster I designed and threw around the internet for fun. For everyone’s sake I hope it’s a good prediction.”

Come on people. We should have the lineup in just over 24 hours. Calm down.

February 12, 2012 at 11:00 pm

Saw a “leaked” lineup that had radiohead and prince on it. Don’t know if any of you guys remember my “source” that said they would be there last year, but it would be cool to know I had somewhat of an insight. Granted, its a year later. Before you all start bashing me and everything about me, I have definitely learned you can’t believe anything when it comes to prelineup speculations. I do, however, hope that everyone’s appetite is somewhat satiated in the next few days. I can’t wait to see what the final product will be. Told myself I wasn’t going this year, but have a feeling I will be there anyway. Fingers crossed for something good–whatever happens.

February 13, 2012 at 10:54 pm

I’m with you brother. Last year was my “final” ‘Roo (which the heat almost killed me I must add) but if the lineup is close to what is being predicted.  I don’t know what I’m going to do.

February 12, 2012 at 11:47 pm

well shit i hope it’s paul mccartney after that performance

February 13, 2012 at 10:15 am

it seems to me like Bonnaroo is missing the boat in terms of its scheduling. if they had a somewhat legitimate headliner on Thursday night, wouldnt they get a better turnout/make more money for the festival overall? It seems like a ton of people don’t show up until Friday, but if its a four day festival, have a Thursday headliner that has some name recognition (maybe not a huge name, but something like a Cold War Kids, Primus, Allison Krausse, or Lil Wayne) and get more people there by Thursday, or better yet Wednesday night. But in the past, with no major draw for Thursday night, they aren’t taking advantage of drawing a captive audience for another 1-2 nights. Am I missing something here? Can someone explain?

February 13, 2012 at 12:26 pm

On a personal level, I almost always enjoy Thursday the most precisely because so many people don’t show up until Friday (although last year sleigh bells and deerhunter were fuckin CROWDED). Thursday is a day to showcase up-and-comers who can, more often than not, pack every bit as much punch as some of the bigger acts that follow. Plus, I don’t really believe that they are having any trouble selling tickets. So long as tickets sell, what do they care when the ticket holders decide to show up?

February 13, 2012 at 3:59 pm

of course they care when ticket holders show up, ie, the more people there the more money all the vendors make. i mean how many vendors (merch, food, etc.)are set up at bonnaroo? well over 1000 i assume. they would all do better if they had a decent line-up of bands playing Thursday night and got the entire crowd there on by Wed/Thurs, otherwise why not just make it a 3 day festival? i show up on Wed night regardless of who is playing, but it would be nice to add another headliner or sub-headliners to the list for Thurs night, from a fans perspective. and obviously sleigh bells and deerhunter or anyone are going to have packed shows because there aren’t many other options…..

February 13, 2012 at 10:50 pm

I sincerely doubt AC entertainment is concerned with how much money the vendors rake in.

February 13, 2012 at 1:41 pm

Lineup tomorrow, it’s official, via Roo’s facebook!

probably the best (fake) lineup i have seen thus far. a couple things about it are off though such as the bottom left. however – the logo on the top and the ticket on sale date is quite convincing. good job to who ever found or made this

February 13, 2012 at 6:36 pm

This doesn’t even make sense.

February 13, 2012 at 6:42 pm

Yeah, it does. Meant festival of the decade, not year. Usually you guys have that free thread or whatever when a lineup is about to drop. I’m just surprised there’s not even an article that Bonnaroo’s lineup is being dropped tomorrow.

Alex Young
February 13, 2012 at 6:43 pm

It’s still early.

February 13, 2012 at 9:58 pm

yeah fo reelz CoS.   Yallz be slackin this year… shameful

February 14, 2012 at 11:08 am

I hate to be that guy, but who is NKOTBSB?

February 14, 2012 at 11:54 am

February 14, 2012 at 12:05 pm

Tyler Jeffries
February 14, 2012 at 12:12 pm

WEAK lineup. Least inspired slate they’ve ever put together, loaded with festival mainstays and retreads.

Brenton Oechsle
February 14, 2012 at 12:59 pm

AND we have our first idiot comment about the lineup! Congratulations you have just won the Worst Taste in Music award!

February 14, 2012 at 12:23 pm

Pretty happy … if Prince & Jack White were on it I would have had an accident in my shorts … always wanted to see Ludacris & Black Star … can’t wait for a lot of the bottom of the lineup stuff … Gary Clark Jr., Grouplove, Alabama Shakes, Joy Formidable, etc … no Danzig? WTF?

February 14, 2012 at 1:35 pm

weakest undercard ever

February 14, 2012 at 10:03 pm

 Boring post is boring post.

February 14, 2012 at 10:20 pm

Well I am happy that you can so blissfully yet obliviously pretend that Passion Pit and Hockey are “favorite” sets. Are they even bands anymore? Ha ha, don’t answer. Life must be nice for you. Easy, right? Simple, right? Unexamined, right? Anyways I didn’t mean to barge in and disrupt you from watching The Bachelor or whatever other equally embarrassing thing you are doing right now that I am sure you feel others should just shut up about if they don’t like it because taste is, like, an opinion man. You’re right, some people like the taste of shit. They have weird opinions I guess?

Your blend of “must watch bands” sure paints a pretty picture of the discernible taste you’ve clearly developed (Beach Boys fans are usually Skrillex fans. Yup…) to allow you both the gall and pedestal to even pretend for one second you know anything about music and how any other person should react to it. You are the Weathervane who refuses to admit that they are directed by the wind and instead would chooses so embarrassingly and cringe worthily to declare for all to see that you  in fact the one who chooses the directions and anyone who wants to be a downer and tell you no, well then they are clearly idiots. Yes it sure is clear who is the idiot.

What a stupid head.

February 14, 2012 at 11:09 pm

Wow, you’re a serious dick.

February 14, 2012 at 11:27 pm

Hey, thanks for reading my stuff! I’m glad you were able to point out the dickishness. You are a sharp one, you are.

Steve changed his name to Stefan when he decided to become a whiny, jaded hipster.

February 17, 2012 at 12:14 am

Jesus, Stefan, smoke some green or something. you suck bad, I really hope I never meet or talk to someone like you…ever

February 14, 2012 at 10:25 pm

Funny! I see why you felt the need to post this. Too funny just to keep that one under your hat. I mean, your hat could potentially explode and kill someone with that big ol’ giant funny you’ve got under there. Never stop being you dude. Unless you wanna stop, but my guess is you’re way to shameless to ever let that happen.

February 15, 2012 at 1:18 am

Pretty much a perfect line up right there folks.  Little light on the metal but that doesn’t really appeal to me much.  The under card is tits.  This damn fest will not let me leave it!!  See you at the farm folks.  I hope I don’t melt this year!!!

whoreshack betts
February 15, 2012 at 11:18 pm

Yeah, Lola, 2010 was obviously the weakest line-up in Roo’s history.   Thanx for playing.

February 22, 2012 at 9:55 pm

Second weakest now…

Does anyone know why Fleet Foxes have never played Bonnaroo? Do the Bonnaroo people hate them or something?

February 17, 2012 at 3:49 pm

I’m with you on this one. They were rumored to this year but their drummer just left the band and 2 of the guys are touring with other bands.

February 23, 2012 at 12:43 am

They’re hibernating.

Josh Warnick
March 1, 2012 at 12:23 am

They broke up. Most members formed new band Poor Moon signed to sub pop records.

February 18, 2012 at 9:33 pm

Can anyone tell me if Bonnaroo has ever sold out. I am in a poistion that I am not sure if I can go and won’t know till May. But I am scared to death that this might sell out and I can’t make it.

February 20, 2012 at 3:18 pm

I’ve never heard of it selling out… however, in the event it does this year and you don’t get a ticket, here’s a tip for you … I have gone 8 times, and at least 3 of the years people in my group didn’t have tickets and purchased them from scalpers off the side of the road in Manchester as we waited in line to get in… the most over top face value they ever paid was $20, and usually it was less than face … it’s always a funny negotiation, because the buyer has the leverage, but doesn’t know it… trust me, there are more unused tickets floating around down there than there are people coming all the way to Manchester without one … if you make a FAIR offer (like $250-ish), usually they will take it and run … just do your due diligence and make sure you know what the wristbands look like and what features to make sure it has before you buy …

February 21, 2012 at 6:54 pm

It sold out last year, but not until a couple months after tickets went on sale.  Nothing like Coachella or Ultra.

March 7, 2012 at 3:37 pm

I’ve been going since 2005 and tickets (online) are usually available until May. I think once they were available in the first week of June. I’m pretty sure you can go to the radio station in downtown Manchester on like the day the festival starts and find tickets still available though.

February 21, 2012 at 2:08 pm

Ideas or rumors for additions?… when do they typically start adding more?

February 21, 2012 at 7:16 pm

REO Speedwagon

February 22, 2012 at 11:14 am

 i’m sold

February 22, 2012 at 5:33 pm

I’d say 10 more mid to lower tiered bands (Galactic, Cage the Elephant) in about a month, plus cafe & comedy acts.

February 22, 2012 at 8:01 pm

Has anyone else noticed that Jack White and Drake are on the 2012 playlist on Bonnaroo’s Spotify playlist? I think that’s enough to put them as rumored.

February 23, 2012 at 12:55 pm

its the wrong jack white that Fuse put on the playlist.

February 27, 2012 at 10:02 am

The Clean and Times New Viking are in DC the 7th and Chapel Hill the 8th with no dates after that … good possible adds

C Walsh Wortsman
February 28, 2012 at 2:21 pm

Might as well throw SQUAREPUSHER to the list!!!!

February 28, 2012 at 7:23 pm

As much as I would like to see this happen. I followed the link. Now I wonder what is your logic for adding Squarepusher?

February 28, 2012 at 8:55 pm

Sat 9 Jun 12

February 29, 2012 at 1:40 am

That date is for Battles. I completely missed the date the 1st time I looked at it honestly. But Squarepusher does have that weekend open between brazil and spain. It would be dope to have Squarepusher @ roo. I don’t much care for dub step and I would like to see more EDM names on the line up.

March 7, 2012 at 12:46 pm

Good eye on that Santigold add, her name isn’t on the lineup if you view it “headliners first”

Jeff Smith
March 7, 2012 at 1:18 pm

you guys need to post peter frampton puscifier and black keys + about 3 more that were added to a bonnaroo spotify playlist on bonaroo’s facebook. just a heads up.

Caleb Adams
March 8, 2012 at 11:51 am

Could Caribou be a late addition to the lineup? They are opening for Radiohead for the 2 shows in Ohio leading up to ‘roo and they are opening for them in Illinois on June 10th as well. Makes logical sense that they could be added.

March 8, 2012 at 2:40 pm

March 9, 2012 at 10:39 am

also were there in 2010. just what i saw on roos spotify playlist and all were already ’12 bands except for a few. not saying im right. but i am aware that roo rarely has the same artist 2 years in a row so i would be shocked if it was actually right….guess well see next week

schmails and i never slice
March 9, 2012 at 3:14 pm

I think GZA  should get added,,, he is opening up for bad brains and has a new album coming out, and  he uses a live band…..  Plus no wu tang members have ever played bonnaroo.

March 19, 2012 at 7:27 pm

idk but i hope so, can someone look into this cause i want them to go too

March 20, 2012 at 12:30 am

MAYBE A$AP Rocky but Odd Future is very doubtful.  Notice AC Entertainment has steered clear of OF since they blew up around this time last year, probably because they are such a lability.  While Bonnaroo accepts all musical styles the Horror Core Rap genre doesn’t get much love on the farm, it’s more of a Lollapalooza act I feel.

March 29, 2012 at 9:12 am

wow, Colin Hay in the comedy tent? hopefully her does a cafe as well because I would love to see him play.

April 1, 2012 at 6:14 pm

what about miniature tigers? arent they touring with fun.? would be pretty cool to see them on the farm

April 11, 2012 at 1:11 pm

Rodrigo y Gabriela and C.U.B.A is now on the line up.

April 12, 2012 at 4:23 pm

Spin said that A$AP Rocky will be at Bonnaroo in their report on Coachella acts today. Not sure if its a mistake on their part or a leak

April 17, 2012 at 7:10 pm

Yeah, WTF? Where is their rumor add???

April 19, 2012 at 11:55 pm

No Mumford and sons?

April 20, 2012 at 11:07 am

Played the past 2 years… so, no (unless you’re My Morning Jacket)

April 25, 2012 at 6:26 pm

For all of you ROO goers please check out The Main Squeeze. Funk band from Bloomington, Indiana (Indiana University). They are very good friends of mine and really know how to get a party going.

Corey Bell
April 25, 2012 at 6:34 pm

according to their home page, they added waaaay more than whats been added here (ie. Oberhofer, Stooges Brass Band, etc)

April 25, 2012 at 11:07 pm

May 9, 2012 at 9:20 am here are all the adds straight from their website!

May 15, 2012 at 9:32 am

GZA seems to have fallen off of the lineup…. i read in the forums that they couldnt swing him for the fest.

May 15, 2012 at 12:13 pm

We’re good!  Artists are being added to the official lineup.  Including GZA performing Liquid Swords.

May 22, 2012 at 5:53 am

No Jack White?? Seems like he should have been headlining one of those nights, being in Tennessee and the fact that he played a blistering Bonnaroo set with The Raconteurs in years past. I wonder who dropped the ball on that.

May 22, 2012 at 10:28 am

i have an extra ticket for sale $250

also have an extra room for sale at the microtel inn in manchester..1.5 miles from venue
mini suite, nonsmoking, reserved for thursday to monday(checkout)
asking $800, which is way cheaper for a hotel in the same town as bonnaroo!!!

If interested, or need additional information, please email me…..chill_25@hotmail:disqus .com

May 23, 2012 at 6:21 pm

add Superjam feat. ?uestlove and Special Guest

It is up on

May 25, 2012 at 11:20 am

What is the deal with Walk The Moon still being on here?

May 28, 2012 at 4:57 pm

October 3, 2012 at 7:32 pm

no one should if the ass cops bust everyone who is around weed and writes each individual tickets totally 1500.00 plus

October 3, 2012 at 8:11 pm

February 23, 2012 at 1:12 pm

You should check out Big Gigantic too

March 7, 2012 at 3:40 pm

We’re actually probably going to be getting close to 70 more acts (and that includes cafe acts). Lineup poster says over 150, and we’re sitting at 80 something now.
