With Metallica taking supreme legacy and acceptance to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, heavy metal this week has certainly made public headlines in the music world. While the glitz and glamor shines bright for this early edition of April, the underground isn’t looking too shabby either. A little while ago, we introduced you to one of North Dakota’s heaviest doom metal bands Battlefields. As it turns out, not only are the Midwestern quartet finishing up their U.S. tour with label mates Irepress, their debut album Thresholds Of Imbalance is currently streaming on the band’s MySpace page.

Need a new heavy dosage in your morning coffee? Can’t seem to shake off those train ride blues without a new jolt of thunder? Battlefields’ debut can quickly take care of that. While the band is currently wrapping up the tour, the band will partake in another summer tour starting in June (with dates to be announced shortly). Dark Castle revs up tour for debut record

Claiming itself as “the oldest city in the United States,” St. Augustine, Florida is certainly a city to behold. Not only is it home to one of the nation’s leading sports programs at Flagler College, it houses some of the most beautiful Spanish architecture from the voyages of Ponce de Leon, which include the magnificent Castillo de San Marcos just off the city’s edges. Another somewhat overlooked treasure is one of the city’s heaviest and musically interesting bands, Dark Castle.

Proclaiming from their Myspace page that the “sands hold the time, we hold the key,” the brutal duo that makes up Dark Castle certainly bring it to the heavy metal show. Combining thick, crunchy guitars and bombastic beats, this young band, currently signed with At A Loss Recordings, is hitting the road in anticipation for their debut release Spirited Migration. The album itself will see a late April release that should quench the thirsts of legions of heavy metal armies across the United States.
