San Diego blues rock heros Delta Spirit traveled 116 miles north to Los Angeles on Thursday Night for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The band performed “California” and “Tear It Up”, two tracks off their recently-released self-titled third LP. Watch the replay below (via The Audio Perv).

The Who’s Roger Daltrey performed “Young Man Blues” and sat down for an interview on the Thursday Night episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The interview was mostly dedicated to promoting his Teenage Cancer Trust charity, but the legendary singer did provide a status update on The Who (they’re on a “very long sabbatical”) and shared tales of the band’s late drummer, Keith Moon. Last night, late night TV was chock full of big name talent making their way to Coachella. Arctic Monkeys appeared on Conan, where they performed their new single, “R U Mine?”. Brooklyn’s White Rabbits appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, where they showcased “Danny Come Inside” and “Are You Free” from their new LP, Milk Famous. Watch the replay below.

Thanks to the power of late-night TV, countless bands and singers have reached a population of music listeners they would’ve never been able to otherwise. Last night, New Orleans bounce queen Big Freedia joined that list of such acts when she made her grand debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, performing “Excuse” and “Nah Who Mad”. Backed by dancers right out of Stomp The Yard, Freedia, decked out in matching zebra pants and shirt, popped her way onto the stage before letting lose an auditory assault featuring his one-of-a-kind shouting/flow, a helpin’ of boomin’ bass, and uber jerky drum machines. More than just brining bounce to a wider audience, Freedia’s in-your-face approach and unrelenting pace made it seem as if all of the country had stumbled into an underground dive somewhere in the Garden District. So much has changed. Merrill Garbus. Jimmy Kimmel. Bud Light banners. A year ago, few fans could have conjured up that image, but here we are in 2012 and an act like the tUnE-yArDs has attracted quite the following. Last night, Garbus & Co. delivered one of 2011′s best tracks, “Bizness”, all to perfection: horns, syncopated beats, neon makeup, you got it. Jimmy Kimmel has a slight upper hand with his late night gig: an outdoor venue. But, because of this, his guests require a certain musical gravitas to compete against Mother Nature and the whims of a massive crowd. Thankfully, Death Cab for Cutie have experience with such settings – most recently at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas - and last night’s performance of ”Underneath the Sycamore” and “You Are a Tourist” went off without a hitch. Even better, the indie collective maintained its authentic romantic vibes, always present on any DFCF effort. Enjoy the giant-sized performance on a much smaller screen by checking out the video replay below.

After surviving a recent bout with vampirism, My Morning Jacket braved the midnight hour again last night, though this time they tossed a rain check on any undead wakes. Instead, they hit up Jimmy Kimmel Live! to knock out two solid cuts off their latest LP, Circuital: “Outta My System” and “First Light”. By now, it’s obvious frontman and guitarist Jim James’ hair isn’t getting any shorter, and it had as much fun last night as he did, swallowing the air in all its Kentucky glory. The once and indie caterpillar turned beautiful pop star butterfly Feist comma Leslie hopped up on the big Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage last night and performed “How Come You Never Go There” and “The Bad In Each Other”, two tracks from her latest album, Metals. Check out the video below.

Not that she looks bored with her own material at all, but lately the focus seems to be on her joy of collaborations. Ed Droste and Jeff Tweedy have already come under her spell, The Muppets fell for her, and now she’s got her sights set on Mastodon and The Flaming Lips. Though no pair may be as famous (or as lucrative) as her initial collaboration.

Wale can often be found touting his native Washington, DC, but the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! has quickly become his home away from home. In the last 21 months, the up and coming rapper has made three appearances on the last night television program: The first took place back in February 2010 when he delivered a kickin’ solo rendition of “Pretty Girls”. Then, last May, Wale joined his Maybach Music Group cohorts for “Play Your Part” and “Tupac’s Back”. Now, a week after the release of his MMG debut Ambition, Wale returned to Kimmel last night to rock through “Lotus Flower Bomb”. Building on his past performances, this latest go-around saw the MC at his most charismatic, compelling, and, yes, even his most sensual.  Check out the video replay below.

In September, bizarro rock trio Primus released their first album in 12 years, Green Naugahyde. Following a fairly intense North American tour that wrapped up just days ago, Les Claypool and company continue to run the promotional gauntlet, hitting up last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Unveiling the album track “Lee Van Cleef”, the band made their way through a performance that was everything one might expect from the odd outfit: energetic, a little weird (maybe even borderline off-putting for some folks), and, of course, an affair filled with tons of funky bass. Plus, attribute it to the grand setting of ABC or just the band being the wily veterans they are, but the threesome demonstrated so succinctly just how much subtle punch they have. The last time Jane’s Addiction graced late night television (in 2003), Conan O’Brien was cracking jokes on NBC, J-Fal was still a force on SNL, Jimmy Kimmel Live had just debuted, and David Letterman hadn’t quite transitioned into a creepy old man. But with the band’s fourth studio album, The Great Escape Artist, dropping in less than two weeks, Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, and on-again, off-again bassist Chris Chaney took to Kimmel‘s outdoor stage to perform “Irresistible Force” last night. With the lights dimmed, and the crowd basking in a flood of lasers, Farrell seemed slightly subdued following such a late-night dry spell…until the song’s first chorus. Farrell’s energy was amplified by the pounding double-bass of Perkins and the straight-sexy guitar stylings of the legendary Navarro. Like a football team winning the Super Bowl or a cricket player winning whatever their championship game is, rap athlete J. Cole achieved the dream this week by nabbing the No.1 spot on the Billboard 200 with his rookie album Cole World: The Sideline Story. But the work of a champion is never done, and Cole’s first bit of post-victory business was a visit to last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!. These days, it’s slightly surreal seeing Blink-182 on-stage; sort of like flipping through your old high school yearbook over the holidays. Are we that old already, you might ask yourself again and again. Similar questions surfaced last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker punched in at ABC Studios. Supporting their new LP, Neighborhoods, the CA (former?) foul-mouthed trio rolled out new singles “Up All Night” and later “After Midnight”. Be forewarned: Gone are the absurd lyrics, instead replaced by edgier tones and slightly hoarse vocals. Don’t fret, though. Last night, folk-rock maestro Josh Ritter stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to play a scorching rendition of “Rattling Locks”, the fifth track off last year’s So Runs the World Away. The percussion-heavy and bluesy number is a thunderous piece of work, especially when Ritter is accompanied by the equally animated Royal City Band. In case you missed it, the video is above. Over the end credits of Kimmel, Ritter and company also played the energetic fan-favorite “Kathleen”, which you can check out below.

Ritter can be found on his seemingly never-ending tour (such as stops with the DMB Caravan) as well bookstores everywhere with his debut novel, Bright’s Passage. You know, the book that Stephen King said “shines with a compressed lyricism that recalls Ray Bradbury in his prime”. No big deal.

Ahead of tonight’s big gig in Chi-city, Coldplay played an intimate, sold-out concert at the Los Angeles Tennis Center at UCLA on Wednesday Night. The cameras of Jimmy Kimmel Live! were on hand, and you can watch the U.S. network television debut of “Charlie Brown” and “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” below (via The Audio Perv). Also included was a brief tribute to the late Amy Winehouse.

Both tracks are expected to be included on the band’s forthcoming fifth LP, due later this year via Capitol Records.

Lady Gaga brought her trademark mainstreamed, avant-garde style to Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night for an interview as well as a performance of tracks “You and I” and “The Edge of Glory”, off her latest LP Born This Way. The interview was surprisingly sporadic, topic-wise, with a large amount of time devoted to meat-curing, prosciutto, and flavoring pasta with cigarette butts which somehow transcends into drunken bowling. But honestly, what were you expecting from the Queen Monster herself? A musical treatise on the practical applications of the Fischer-Speier esterification of carboxylic acids? Hell, if anyone can do it, it’ll be Lady Gaga.

The performance, on the other hand, was rather un-Gaga-like: no crazy costumes, no weird hairdos, not even seizure-inducing lights. (Maybe she was trying to avoid a riot.) The piano ballad-turned anthem “You and I” kicked things off and was followed by Gaga’s current dance-rock banger, “The Edge of Glory”.

Resurrected 90′s rock favorites Bush will release their fifth LP, and first since 2001, on September 13th via personal imprint Zuma Rock Records. Titled The Sea of Memories, frontman Gavin Rossdale says that the record “captures the electricity and trademark intensity of classic Bush delivered in a setting that’s fresh and alive.” Decide if he’s right below; the album’s lead single, “The Sound Of Winter”, is now available for streaming (via KROQ).

With influences including hip-hop, R&B, electro, indie, and classic rock, the sounds of Brooklyn’s Theophilus London are already overflowing from the borough. Last night, London made his way to southern California and the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform his latest single “I Stand Alone”. The track selection must have come easy. According to an interview with Wired.com, it’s London’s favorite recording off his newly released Timez Are Weird These Days. Backed by a pair of vocalists and accompanied by a bassist, dual guitarists, a live producer, and a percussionist, the track merges London’s lyricism with an infectious dance-rock vibe. Sequined shirt or not, the man’s personality certainly shines live.

As a result, bedtimes are going to start becoming later per capita, which means more chances to catch the late night circuit. This week boasts a pretty solid lineup, and kicks off David Letterman’s “Drum Solo Week” including performances from house drummer Anton Fig and the legendary Neil Peart. So that will be something to look forward to. Other notable performers include smaller favorites Tinie Tempah and Friendly Fires, as well as heavy-hitters, My Morning Jacket, Death Cab For Cuite, and the usually elusive Mogwai.

And to top it all off Bon Iver is bringing their first single to network television, which should be nothing short of fantastic. For nearly a decade, metal folklore had Rammstein banned in the United States, the result of a public indecency arrest and far too many onstage sex scenes. But after successfully conquering Madison Square Garden last fall, Germany’s version of The Beatles — at least in terms of popularity — recently embarked on a U.S. tour. Along the way, they were invited to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the clips from last night’s performance are the best things you’ll see all day. I promise.

Performing “Du Hast” and “Feuer Frei”, Rammstein brought their full arsenal of tricks to the broadcast. In fact, in the the four minutes it took to play “Du Hast”, frontman Till Lindemann managed to both breathe fire and light a roadie on fire, all while various fiery explosions went off in five-second intervals. Before last night, Lopez Tonight was perhaps best known for hosting the live hip hop debut of NBA All-Star Ron Artest. But now, Conan’s lead-out can tout the fact that the world’s most famous Prince appeared on his show and played three songs, including two brand new ones. Better yet, the guitar legend set aside his anti-YouTube ways and let Lopez put the performances up on the net.

Above, you can watch Prince play “Beautiful Ones”, off his iconic Purple Rain, and below are clips for the two new songs, titled “Laydown” and “You’re the One for Me”, respectively. As previously reported, the appearance came in support of Prince’s upcoming 21-night residency in Los Angeles, which begins tonight.
