It might not be as creative as say, reuniting Pavement or having Flaming Lips play Soft Bulletin in its entirety, but the latest event to be hosted by the folks at ATP (All Tomorrow’s Parties) will surely please my neighbors on Bedford Ave. For the festival’s Spring 2011 installment, organizers have tapped none other than indie heroes Animal Collective to serve as guest curators.

Already, the Brooklyn experimental rockers have chosen a slew of equally eclectic sounding acts to play alongside them, including Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Broadcast, Prince Rama, Spectrum, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, and Gang Gang Dance. Both the Meat Puppets and The Frogs will also appear, performing their albums Up On The Sun and It’s Only Right & Natural, respectively.

The festival will take place from May 13-15 at the Butlins Holiday Centre in Minehead, England. In all, over 40 acts will play over the weekend, so expect more announcements soon. Tickets for the festival, priced at £165.00pp for room only and £175.00pp for self catering, will go on sale Friday, October 29th via atpfestival.com.

The Black Heart Procession can be a handy band to be familiar with, if you aren’t already. For one, their name sound really intense and can make you look like a badass around non-music savvy people (kind of like School of Seven Bells). Just saying “I’m going to go see The Black Heart Procession (note: often shortened by fans to just ‘Black Heart’)” can raise your numerical rating one to two points in the eyes of the opposite sex. Secondly, if you ever find you hipster status called into question or find someone inferring that you are a poseur, drop The Black Heart Procession bomb on them. Chances are they will not be able to keep up with you in a Black Heart conversation because if they were a Black Heart Procession fan, you would know about it already. They are a devout and vocal bunch. Then ask yourself “Why am I hanging out with people who call me out on my muscial taste?”

A good introduction to the San Diego indie veterans might be their new mini-album, Blood Bunny/Black Rabbit. Why? Well, besides featuring three brand new songs, it also offers up collaborations with two mainstays of the college music scene, reggae icon Lee “Scratch” Perry and the artsy Eluvium. So yeah, you basically get it all: new songs and old ones, songs by just the band and songs that include a couple of your faves. Then you can check out the band in person as they open a few dates for The Books. By a few I mean the whole cross-country tour.

Tour dates are below and check out “Blank Page” from Blood Bunny/Black Rabbit, which is due out October 12th.

We feel (and appreciate) your pain... and that's why we put together a quick roundup of all the latest happenings.

Confirmations, rumors, and lineups! With each festival’s announcement just around the corner, the Festival Outlook has certainly been heating up lately, so much so that if you blink too often, you’ll probably miss something. We feel (and appreciate) your pain… and that’s why we put together a quick roundup of all the latest happenings.

All Tomorrow’s Parties:

Looking to keep up with his co-curators, The Simpsons’ Matt Groening has added another round of names to All Tomorrow’s Parties Weekend One. Panda Bear, The Residents, Deerhunter, Broadcast, Daniel Johnston, Shonen Knife, and Amadou & Mariam are among those now scheduled to appear perform at Butlins Holiday Centre from May 7-9. Press your luck with tickets here.

Primavera Sound:

Europe’s version of Pitchfork, the Primavera Sound Festival, has added the likes of Mission of Burma, Orbital, Wire, Low, Superchunk Dr. Dog, Japandroids, The King Khan & BBQ Show, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Circulatory System, and Sic Alps to its already ridiculously indie friendly lineup. This inane list will join previous confirmed acts such as Pavement, Pixies, Wilco, The Fall, Panda Bear, and The New Pornographers in Barcelona, Spain from May 27-29. Tickets (you know you want ‘em) are here.

Hillside Inside:

<content:mobile>Confirmations, rumors, and lineups! With each festival's announcement just around the corner, the Festival Outlook has certainly been heating up lately, so much so that if you blink too often, you'll probably miss something. We feel (and appreciate) your pain... and that's why we put together a quick roundup of all the latest happenings.

All Tomorrow's Parties:

Looking to keep up with his co-curators, The Simpsons' Matt Groening has added another round of names to All Tomorrow's Parties Weekend One.

Europe's version of Pitchfork, the Primavera Sound Festival, has added the likes of Mission of Burma, Orbital, Wire, Low, Superchunk Dr. Tickets (you know you want 'em) are here.
