According to vocalist, Sway, Morning Electric’s name is a term used to refer to what it feels like waking up after really good sex.

If that’s the case, then these guys are some serious foreplay. The music is (for lack of a better word) sexy. With slinky slide guitars and soulful vocals one minute, and 90s alternative and folk the next, Morning Electric are the blend for anyone with a need for powerful chords, deep lyrical poetry, and songs that make you think of anything from Bloc Party to Jimi Hendrix.

Influenced by women and The Rolling Stones, self-taught musicians Sway and Eric Doerkson formed this Canadian crack-rock in 2005 and never looked back. With songs that could jam like Queens of the Stone Age, or soul that could melt your lady fast as Marvin Gaye, Morning Electric is the 00s answer to bringing sexy back.

Via the band’s MySpace, “Black Vegas” and “Morning Song” offer the first tastes of the five-piece’s debut EP, Slippery Fingers Can Lead To An End. While at first listen they come a bit random, both rock strong with what can only be described as sex with electricity. Mixed into these fine tunes are elements of indie, blues, classic rock, and sound akin to The Verve before they fell off the map (for whatever reason). It’s all sort of a fresh take on 90s alternative, and I am loving the twists.

Forget Timberlake and Timbaland, here’s some real loving for the stereo.
