The eighth annual Pygmalion Music Festival runs September 27-29th in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. Today, the festival revealed its initial lineup, highlighted by Grizzly Bear’s first scheduled U.S. performance in nearly two years.

Other notable acts include Dinosaur Jr., Cloud Nothings, Tennis, Lotus Plaza, Willis Earl Beal, Frankie Rose, Zeus, Big Freedia, Owen, Craft Spells, Hospitality, Julia Holter, and Psychic Twin. Additional acts, including headliners, will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Early-bird festival will be available for $65 beginning Wednesday, May 9th at 10:00 AM CT. Once that allotment sells out, the price will increase to $75 and then $85. Visit the festival’s website for more information.

Ottawa Bluesfest:
Though just weeks away, Ottawa Bluesfest ’09 is still not done adding names to its lineup. In addition to the recent inclusion of The Black Keys and Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Ottawa based festival, set to run from July 9-19, has announced the addition of a new stage in the city’s Byward Market where the festival will host free performances from the likes of George Clinton, The Proclaimers, Arrested Development, Matt Mays, Misstress Barbara and others.

Siren Music Festival:
Village Voice‘s Siren Music Festival is just a month away (July 18th). But that doesn’t mean there isn’t time for a few more lineup additions. A Place to Bury Strangers, Thee Oh Sees, Tiny Masters of Today, and Justine D. are among the latest acts scheduled to appear on the Brooklyn festival’s bill, which already included Built to Spill, The Ravonettes, Montonix, and Spank Rock. And the best part? It’s still free to attend!

Osheaga Music Festival:
The Osheaga Music & Arts Festival, aka the Canadian equivalent to All Points West (note the similar headliners), now looks a bit less like All Points West thanks to the likes of the recently added Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Heartless Bastards, Donavon Frankenreiter, Gentlemen Reg, The Rural Alberta Advantage and Miike Snow. Outside Lands Music Festival:
San Francisco’s Outside Lands made headlines earlier this week by adding even more acts to its ’09 bill. Now set to join the likes of Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, Beastie Boys, and M.I.A. will be Street Sweeper Social Club, Cage The Elephant, Autolux, Alpha Blondy, and Infantree. Not bad, eh? What also isn’t bad is the daily schedule Outside Lands also recently shelled out. Tom Jones, Incubus, and Pearl Jam all on the same day? Talk about the most awesome cluster fuck ever! Reading and Leeds:
In the latest example of a European music festival making us all jealous, Faith No More, Deadmau5, Vitalic, MSTRKRFT, Lady Sovereign, and The Crystal Method have been added to the already insanely awesome lineup of Reading & Leeds ’09.

Electric Zoo:
Is it just me, or do all the best electric-oriented music festivals seem to take place on the west coast? Well, come September 5th and 6th, Made Events will look to change this notion when it brings Electric Zoo to New York City’s Randall’s Island. The Labor Day Weekend event currently promises performances by Armin van Buuren, Deadmau5, David Guetta, Richie Hawtin, Special Disco Version, and Tiga, along with DJ sets by the guys from Hercules & Love Affair and Hot Chip. Two-day passes, currently priced at $100, are available on electriczoo.com.

Musicfest NW:
There aren’t many places better than Portland, Oregon. So, it always excites us when details relating to the Portland-based Musicfest NW begin to pop up. While the official lineup is still forthcoming, so far, Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, The Get Up Kids, The Pain of Being Pure at Heart, Frightened Rabbit, Dillinger Four, The Twilight Sad, and Cymbals Eat Guitar are among the names confirmed. Indie to the max!

Pygamlaion Festival:
Last week saw a new round of additions to the ’09 bill for the Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, Pygmalion Music Festival. Among those included were Lucero, Wavves, Low, Japandroids, The Horse’s Ha, and BLK JKS. Indie to the max x2! Festival passes are currently available via the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.

Pop Montreal:
Beginning September 30th, our friends up north will be inundated with another edition of Pop Montreal, one which we learned this week will include Dinosaur Jr., Destroyer, Butthole Surfers, Matt & Kim, Loudon Wainwright III, Fever Ray, and Chairlift. Early bird passes are now available via popmontreal.com.

Riot Fest:
Riot Fest is like the Warped Tour, only it takes place during a five-day stretch (October 7-11) in a single city (Chicago) and is way cooler. Among the names currently scheduled to take part are NOFX, Butthole Surfers, Murder City Devils, Alkaline Trio, The Dead Milkmen, and Screaching Weasel. More names are still forthcoming; five-day passes are currently being sold through Ticketweb.com.

Voodoo Music Experience:
It’s hard to fathom it’s already time to start thinking about Halloween, but if you’re enticed by names like the Beastie Boys, KISS, Widespread Panic, Kings of Leon Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Eagles of Death Metal, The Black Keys, Mute Math, and Metallica (maybe?), then you really ought to. After all, those are the names currently confirmed for this year’s Voodoo Music Experience, which is set to take place between October 30th and November 1st in New Orleans. The complete lineup is still forthcoming, but you don’t have to wait for it to pick up tickets. Get them now via Ticketmaster.
