In case the funky scourge that is the first taste off of Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 has firmly planted its tentacles on some glorious cerebral cortex-front property, here’s something to free the victims of the Beastie Boys‘ sinister plot to dominate the airwaves all summer long: the Beastie Boys in video form! Courtesy of their official site, the boys haved dropped the trailer for their Sundance-debuting short film Fight For Your Right Revisited. The star-studded feature sees Elijah Wood and Will Ferrell as Ad-Rock, Danny McBride and John C. Reilly both playing MCA, and Seth Rogen and Jack Black tackling Mike D., along with cameos from Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, David Cross, Rainn Wilson, Orlando Bloom, and a literal smorgasbord of Hollywood stars; oh, and the real Beastie Boys show up too. As one might expect from an ensemble cast, shit gets funny real quick. From breakdancing battles to discussions of pie and sledgehammers to entirely necessary destruction of property, it’s sure to take over the time and space “Make Some Noise” is currently occupying.

The film will be packaged in the deluxe edition of Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2, which is now available for pre-order. A Los Angeles screening is also confirmed for April 29th, so they’ll probably be more than one way to see it. As always, stay tuned for more details.

Update #2: Speaking on the Kevin and Bean radio show (via @beastieboysnews), Ad-Rock confirmed that the trio has “no tour plans as of now.”

Even though MCA is still on the mend, the Beastie Boys are full steam ahead in the publicity push behind their forthcoming album, Hot Sauce Committee, pt 2. First up is the release of their brand new short film, “Fight for Your Right Revisited”, which is set to premiere this week at the Sundance Film Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah.

While the exact plot remains under wraps, the film will serve as a music video for the album track “Make Some Noise” according to Mike D. And thanks to IMDB.com, we now know the film’s complete cast and it’s a veritble who’s who of Hollywood A-listers. For one, it apparently takes two movie stars to play one Beastie Boy; both Elijah Wood and Will Ferrell will play Ad-Rock, Danny McBride and John C. Reilly will fill the role of MCA, and Seth Rogen and Jack Black will handle Mike D.

Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci, will play the roles of “mother” and “father”, respectively, while other cast members include, but are not limited to: Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, David Cross, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler,Jason Schwartzman,  Adam Scott, Rainn Wilson, Steve Buscemi, Chloë Sevigny, Alicia Silverstone, Martin Starr, Ted Danson, Rashida Jones, and R.E.M.’s Mike Mills. Plus, the real Ad-Rock, Mike D, and MCA will make appearances as Cop #1, #2, and #3, respectively.

We also know, compliments of a recent sit down between Rogen and MTV, that the film will feature “perfect replicas” of the costumes and props used in the original “Fight For Your Right” music video. “I don’t know where they all got it. It was hard to get,” Rogen noted. “The real Ad-Rock was saying he still has the Stuyvesant T-shirt that he wore in the video, but they made another one for Elijah. It was amazing.”

This can’t come soon enough.

Confused already? Us, too. What we know for sure: The session was filmed for Wilson’s website, SoulPancake — which, according to a separate vid on the site, exists to “de-lamify talk’n God.” Wilson plays a totally competent and polished bongo, adding a plaintive beat to Cuomo’s sweetly restrained vocals. A second follow-up video shows Wilson onslaughting Cuomo with a litany of questions ranging from “Why is there suffering?” to “What is your favorite metal band?”

What’s still a big mystery to us: Is SoulPancake a straightforwardly honest attempt on Wilson’s behalf to detangle Life’s Big Questions, or is it a piece of subversive, Andy Kaufman-meets-FunnyOrDie.com, performance-art brilliance? How exactly did the “One of Us” cover fit into this past weekend’s “The Alternative Nation Countdown Takeover extreme-mega-extravaganza” that was co-hosted on Sirius Satellite Radio by Cuomo and Jason Schwartzman? How did Cuomo and Wilson first meet, anyway? And fer rills, what if God was one of us? Joan Osbourne never told us.
