John Legend to open for Sade

Sade won’t be alone when she embarks on her first North American tour in a decade this summer. The acclaimed British singer-songwriter has tapped the equally talented John Legend to open all of her North American tour dates. Set to begin in Baltimore on June 26th, Sade and Legend will then make their way west before concluding their travels with a string of California dates in late August.

Sade announces 2011 summer tour dates

Sade just dropped plans for an extensive North American tour tour, her first in over a decade. It’ll of course be in support of the band’s first album in 10 years, Soldier of Love, and consist of 50 dates taking place over the summer of 2011. 10 stops have been detailed so far, including one in Chicago that won’t be Lollapalooza. Silly radius clause!

Update: New Sade album due out in February

Back in June, we reported that Sade Adu had regrouped with the Grammy Award winning band that bears her name with the intention of finally following-up to 2000’s Lovers Rock. Well, that intention was fulfilled and we can now tell you that the outfit’s finished product, titled Soldier of Love, is scheduled for worldwide release on February 8th via Epic Records. The record was recorded in England with longtime collaborator Mike Pela. Expect lots of other details in the near future.

Sade gears up for new release

Now here’s something you don’t hear everyday: Sade is recording a new studio album. According to Billboard.com, the often reclusive Sade Adu has regrouped with the Grammy Award winning band that bears her name and has hit the studio to begin work on its first album of new material since 2000′s Lovers Rock.

While the project is still said to be in its early days, the band hopes to put out the yet-to-be-titled via Sony Records by the end of the year. “She is in the studio and the album will come when it is ready,” a source at Sony tells Billboard. “You don’t wait for years for one and then rush it.”
