Last month we told you of an upcoming Bob Dylan tribute album being put together in celebration of Amnesty International’s 50th anniversary. At the time, My Morning Jacket, Adele, David Matthews Band, and Ke$ha were among the confirmed participants. Now, the set’s entire tracklist has been revealed, and Ke$ha’s cover of ”Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” is just the beginning of the insanity.

Spanning four discs and 75 tracks (!!!), Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International packages together new or previously unreleased Dylan covers from artist of all different genres and generations.
Other notable contributors include The Who’s Pete Townshend (“Corrina, Corrina”), Sting (“Girl from the North Country”), Bryan Ferry (“Bob Dylan’s Dream”), The Gaslight Anthem (“Changing of the Guards”), Elvis Costello (“License to Kill”), Mark Knopfler (“Restless Farewell”), Sinéad O’Connor (“Property of Jesus”), Joan Baez (“Seven Curses (Live)”), Fistful Of Mercy (“Buckets Of Rain”), Bad Religion (“It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue”), Cage the Elephant (“The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll”), and Pete Seeger (“Forever Young”). Dylan himself contributes the album’s namesake.

And just because, Ms. “On Melancholy Hill” (aka Miley Cyrus) takes on “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” and Maroon 5 tackles “ I Shall Be Released”. Also, Seal and Jeff Beck randomly team up for a reworking of “Like A Rolling Stone” and actress Evan Rachel Wood contributes her cover of “I’d Have You Anytime”.

The collection is scheduled for physical and digital release in North America on January 24th, 2012 via Fontana Distribution. It will then be distributed internationally through Fontana International on January 30th. All profits will go to benefit Amnesty International.

Last month we told you of an upcoming Bob Dylan tribute album being put together in celebration of Amnesty International's 50th anniversary. At the time, My Morning Jacket, Adele, David Matthews Band, and Ke$ha were among the confirmed participants. Now, the set's entire tracklist has been revealed, and Ke$ha's cover of "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" is just the beginning of the insanity.

Spanning four discs and 75 tracks (!!!), Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International packages together new or previously unreleased Dylan covers from artist of all different genres and generations. Obvious highlights include covers of "You're A Big Girl Now" by MMJ, "Outlaw Blues" by Queens of the Stone Age, "Not Dark Yet" by Silversun Pickups, "Drifter's Escape" by Patti Smith, and "Lay Down Your Weary Tune" by Billy Bragg.

Other notable contributors include The Who's Pete Townshend ("Corrina, Corrina"), Sting ("Girl from the North Country"), Bryan Ferry ("Bob Dylan's Dream"), The Gaslight Anthem ("Changing of the Guards"), Elvis Costello ("License to Kill"), Mark Knopfler ("Restless Farewell"), Sinéad O'Connor ("Property of Jesus"), Joan Baez ("Seven Curses (Live)"), Fistful Of Mercy ("Buckets Of Rain"), Bad Religion ("It's All Over Now, Baby Blue"), Cage the Elephant ("The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll"), and Pete Seeger ("Forever Young"). Dylan himself contributes the album's namesake.

And just because, Ms. "On Melancholy Hill" (aka Miley Cyrus) takes on "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" and Maroon 5 tackles " I Shall Be Released". Also, Seal and Jeff Beck randomly team up for a reworking of "Like A Rolling Stone" and actress Evan Rachel Wood contributes her cover of "I'd Have You Anytime".

The collection is scheduled for physical and digital release in North America on January 24th, 2012 via Fontana Distribution. It will then be distributed internationally through Fontana International on January 30th. All profits will go to benefit Amnesty International.

I’m usually too busy envying Seal and his beautiful wife, his seemingly happy children, his moderately impressive physique and his boatload of cash in the bank to ever consider what happened to his music career. The “Kiss From A Rose” singer has seemingly not made any music since…”Kiss From A Rose”, but we all knew he was playing housedad to a supermodel, so no one ever really questioned his step back from the musical spotlight. Well, I think we are all in for a great big surprise to discover that he has been releasing music this whole time, with his last album coming out just two years ago. Yes, I feel embarrassed and you should too!

Regardless, Seal will unleash his 6th studio record this fall, titles Commitment. I don’t really see him having a lot of insight on the issue of commitment, I mean, how hard is it to remain committed to Heidi Klum? I’m just sayin…

Seal, however, would beg to differ, stating, “everything about my life is fully committed. I’ve never felt more focused on the matter at hand: My wife, my children, the family in general, my own well-being, and of course music and my career. Each one of these songs has personal meaning for me. I dug very deep and all I can hope for is that the music strikes a chord with people.”

Due to be released on September 28th on Reprise, the album features production by Grammy award winner David Foster, who produced the aforementioned previous record, Soul. I guess it was number one in France for over three months. I’m literally red with embarrassment. I’m sorry Seal (Mr. Seal?), I totally had no idea you still recorded so regularly. Luckily, I really doubt that Seal reads CoS. Prove me wrong!

Somehow, Dave Matthews makes the cut...

Herbie Hancock has a little experience performing with talented artists. For one, the jazz legend used to back-up Miles Davis. If that doesn’t begin and end an artist’s reume, then I don’t know what would. But Hancock’s resume is about to add a few more references that could cement Hancock’s reputation as one of the most respected collaborative musicians of our time.

The Imagine Project is ten songs recorded in ten locations around the world. Though cultures and languages may differ, music remains universal in bringing people together and Hancock explores this theme throughout the project. Maybe someone should send copies to Arizona politicians.

The results from Hancock’s sessions will be released as both an album and a documentary, with the option of a deluxe edition which includes both, as well as a book and sheet music for each of the album’s songs. But, perhaps most notable is the team he has assembled — including Pink, Seal, Dave Matthews, Jeff Beck, John Legend and more. Check out the full tracklisting below for The Imagine Project, which will be released June 22nd.

The Imagine Project Tracklist:
01. Imagine (feat. India Arie, Jeff Beck, Pink & Seal)
02. Don’t Give Up (feat. Pink and John Legend)
03. Tempo De Amor (feat. Céu)
04. Space Captain (feat. Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks)
05. The Times, They Are A’ Changin (feat. The Chieftans and Lisa Hannigan)
06. La Tierra (feat. Juanes)
07. Tamitant Tilay/Exodus (feat. K’Naan, Los Lobos and Tinariwen)
08. Tomorrow Never Knows (feat. Dave Matthews)
09. A Change is Gonna Come (feat. James Morrison)
10. The Songs Goes On (feat. Chaka Kahn, Anoushka Shankar and Wayne Shorter)

This is the first ever Media PODluck, hosted by Nick Jade and Cap Blackard. Check out the previously posted Media Potluck Holiday Feast Volume 1 and look forward to the debut of their 2009 Holiday Feast very soon. It’s like an advent calendar! …Sort of.

Escaping to a secluded cabin in North Carolina, Cap and Nick discuss some of their favorite Christmas music, moments, and memories. Enjoy an eclectic mix of music across the decades as well as reflections on the holidays; including how to kill a boar, how holiday music playing in steak restaurants can be life changing, and a Floridian answer to snow. Listen in as two friends share a Christmas evening together.
<content:mobile>The second in a three-part volley of last minute holiday cheer from our friends over at Media Potluck (the guys responsible for Audio Archaeology). This is the first ever Media PODluck, hosted by Nick Jade and Cap Blackard. Check out the previously posted Media Potluck Holiday Feast Volume 1 and look forward to the debut of their 2009 Holiday Feast very soon. It's like an advent calendar! ...Sort of.

And why didn't they hire him back for The Dark Knight?

The director that shall remain nameless who got a hold of the Batman franchise in the mid nineties needs to be slapped. We went along with it for the first two movies when Tim Burton was behind the directing wheel, but once Val Kilmer took over the iconic lead roll it was all down hill from there. Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were entertaining at best with the only excitement coming from which A-list actors will fill out the cast, and which villains will be brought to life to toy with the Bat. But bluntly, it was all a big joke. I mean really, did the suits need nipples?

Before George Clooney and his mammary protrusions ended the debauchery, the franchise’s third installment, Batman Forever, brought together an unlikely cast headed by Val Kilmer at his acting peak, and introduced us to Chris O’Donnell as his caped life partner, I mean sidekick. Like all action-only stars, Kilmer couldn’t act but man could he stare you down. To help pick up the slack Jim Carrey rehashed his Ace Ventura character for the maniacal Riddler and Nicole Kidman seduced us (kind of?) as Dr. Chase Meridian. Topping it all off however was Tommy Lee Jones’ insane Two-Face. A saving grace if you could call it that. Now with such a huge movie (for 1995) you needed an equally big music video to encompass it all in a neat little package. Enter Seal and his then hit, “Kiss from a Rose”.

Yes, when you think blow out action blockbuster you think Seal, right? Those soaring notes and overly produced theatrics were perfect to represent one of the biggest movies of that summer. I can just see the meeting now, and it could only lead right into the nipples on the bat-suit conversation.

Now the music had already been taken care of the year before, so all they needed was the video. It would be easy too. All that was required was an overlaying montage of gripping scenes showing the intensity of the movie with shots of Seal next to the bat signal throwing his arms about with his shirt flying off him. What else is there? This is where things get a little ridiculous.

The video opens with a panning shot of Gotham as the Batmobile takes us up to where Seal is casually hanging out on a rooftop at night. With his shirt blown open, and his chest ablaze, he starts to lip-synch. From there, each of the characters is introduced with everyone getting their moment in the sun-er-signal, if you will. Carrey and Jones are just as odd as ever as they blow out their characters with gusto. The punchline however comes when Kidman gropes Batman’s rubbery pectorals to show her affection. You just can’t deny a man in uniform. From there, everyone seems to be getting some action as O’Donnell grabs his damsel-in-distress for his own lip-locked reward. The humor is subtle but it’s in every shot showing just how over-the-top the movie was. It just makes me wonder, did anyone take this thing seriously?

By the end of the two and a half minutes you have seen the entire movie. Seal asks at the songs conclusion, “Who will remain my power, my pleasure, my pain?” I think his answer is in the final shot of two heroes running at you in capes and leather.
