Travis announces North American tour

on February 11, 2009, 4:20pm

Britpop fans unite! Glasgow’s own Travis is ready to coast the seas and head into the Americas. In support of their sixth album, last year’s Ode to J. Smith, the Scottish quartet are hitting Mexico, Canada, and North America, and as soon as next month. Let’s just hope they remember to take a breath.

If you’re a follower of the band, you’ll no doubt recognize that things have been fairly incredible for them as of late. Not that it’s of any concern to the tour, but the group’s latest record was engineered by Geoffrey Emerick, who just so happened to work on The Beatles’ most acclaimed records (The White Album, Sgt. Peppers, for starters) and they released it on their own label, Red Telephone Box. It seems like all the work’s paid off, however, and with a critically acclaimed album on their hands, it’s no wonder they’re making their way over here.

For those that still aren’t sold, have a listen at their new single, “Song To Self”, below. If that peaks your interest, maybe some tickets aren’t the only thing you’ll be buying today.
