Lady Sovereign pieces together U.S. tour

on March 06, 2009, 10:45am

Lady Sovereign sure is making up for her 18 month absence from the music world. Fresh off news of her brand new studio album, Jigsaw (April 7th via EMI), the acclaimed British hip-hopper has announced plans for a month-long North American tour. Following her upcoming appearance at South by Southwest, Lady Sovereign will kick off what is currently a 19-date endeavor – though I doubt I’m the only one thinking a late addition to Sasquatch!.

Speaking of her 18 month absence, Sovereign recently divulged the reasoning for it in an interview with Ballerstatus.com:

“I was mad depressed. There was times where I didn’t wanna be here anymore…It got that deep. I felt really lonely as well. I just needed to see if taking the time off, if I wanted to do this anymore — make music and stuff. I realized I did, and I always knew that. I just needed to clear my head a bit.”

The S-O-V said her constant busy schedule, booked up touring calendar, and the overall pressures of grinding as a new artist got the best of her. In the end, it was hard for the now 23-year-old rapper to maintain relationships with both friends and family, which was one of the reasons for her long break.

Ahead of the release, Lady Sovereign recently unveiled the albums second single, “So Human”. Check out both the song and the tour dates below.
