Björk blows minds, readies Voltaic

on April 30, 2009, 8:25am

When the words “multimedia extravaganza” are being used to describe a release, it’s got to be big, like four-disc box set big…

…which is exactly what describes the latest offering from the one and only Björk. On June 23rd, the Icelandic native will release Voltaic, a four-disc box set, consisting of live material, remixes and videos culled from the “Volta” tour. The CDs will include live recordings from London’s Olympic Studios, as well as remixes from Ratatat, Spank Rock, and Simian Mobile Disco. The DVDs feature an equally all encompassing setup, with one consisting of concert footage shot in Paris and Reykjavik, while the other features 10 music videos.

And just in case you don’t want it all – though knowing Björk fans and their willingness to throw down hundreds to see her perform at New York City’s Housing Works Bookcafe with the Dirty Projectors on May 8th, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t, there will be five different packaging combinations.

Once again, score one for Iceland!
