Street Sweeper Social Club readies Street Sweeper Social Club

on April 23, 2009, 10:05am

Despite the name change, Street Sweeper Social Club is still alive and well. In fact, it just so turns out that when the brand new musical endeavor of Tom Morello and Boots Riley on vocals hits the road next month with Jane’s Addiction and Nine Inch Nails next month, they’ll be tour in support of its debut LP, aptly titled Street Sweeper Social Club.

Due for release on June 16t via Warner Music Group, the album will consist of 11 tracks and features Morello on guitar and bass, Riley on vocals, and Galatic’s Staton Moore on drums. As for what one should expect musicially?

“It’s revolutionary party jams,” said Morello of Street Sweeper Social Club. “It’s got huge steamroller riffs combined with depth, charge, funk, while Boots unloads clip after clip of incendiary rhymes rich with satire and venom.”

Translated, that means expect the usual amazing Morello riffs in addition to some politically motivated and insightful looks on life and society.

And, as to why this record is important in today’s climate, here’s Boots:

“This is a time when the working class is being fleeced left and right. More families will be homeless and more people will be jobless. They’ll need something to listen to on their ipods while storming Wall Street.”

Incendiary, indeed!
