The Killers tolerate each other barely, may take their name literally

on April 03, 2009, 4:00pm

In a bit of band gossip custom-made for cheeky headlines (see above), London tabloid The Daily Mirror has reported that The Killers are ready to strangle one another.

The Vegas-based band released its third studio album, Day & Age, in November and has toured virtually nonstop since mid-January. The globetrotting performance schedule, which includes a swing through Australia this weekend before a stop at Coachella, may have brought intraband relations to a head.

“Cracks began to show within the rock four-piece when they came to England in February,” according to the Mirror. “The in-fighting got so bad that singer Brandon Flowers, guitarist Dave Keuning, drummer Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. and bassist Mark Stoermer couldn’t even bear to travel to their gig at London’s 02 Arena together. A band insider tells us, ‘They’re exhausted. They haven’t had a break since they first formed and it has started getting to them.'”

The group is calling on its lawyers and management to wrangle them some time off. While the article states that the band is booked clear through 2010, the Killers’ website only lists playdates through the end of September.

(Hey Killers, look on the Mr. Brightside — if Stereolab can call timeout, surely you can, too.)

In related news, The Fray is unraveling at the seams, members of Seether are silently fuming at one another and Fall Out Boy has had a… well, you get it.
