Everyone’s favorite band with a ?, yes, WHY?, appears ready for another big year. The anticon. crew will unleash the followup to last year’s critically acclaimed Alopecia, the band revealed in a recent interview with Pitchfork. The album will be titled Eskimo Snow and is slated for a fall release.
Apparently lead singer Jonathan “Yoni” Wolf is working on the album artwork as we speak, hitting up the local photocopy shop for some mock-ups. “The artwork takes a long time. I don’t know if major labels do all that stuff for you, but we’re homegrown, so we do everything ourselves,” he said about the process.
Yoni also notes that most of the material on Eskimo Snow was recorded during the Alopecia sessions back in 2007 – the trio recorded 20 songs and then split them up into two different albums. Where Alopecia had angry sarcasm and a biting tone, Eskimo Snow is a little more resigned and introverted, he explained.
WHY? is planning to tour behind the new album, according to Yoni. The only dates on the itinerary are a tour across Europe beginning next month. All other details, including the exact release date, are forthcoming.
