The Hidden Cameras unveil North American tour, free EP

on August 25, 2009, 5:00pm

Everybody’s favourite “Gay church folk band” (frontman Joel Gibb’s description, not mine) is hitting up North America, big time. Beginning on October 21 in Peterborough and ending on December 2 in Chicago, The Hidden Cameras will be traipsing through Canada and the States in support of Origin:Orphan, their seventh full-length. They’ll be joined on each date by labelmate Gentleman Reg.

A quick trip over to the Arts&Crafts website gets you not only a chance to snag some pre-sale tickets to every gig (Save for Brooklyn and San Francisco. What’d you guys do?) but also included with each pre-sale purchase lands you a digital download of In The NA, a recently released EP.

According to a press release, things continue to evolve for Gibb and his constantly rotating band of troubadours:

Origin:Orphan was recorded in Berlin, Germany and Toronto, Ontario and delves into new territory.  The dark synths of the title track and dominant orchestration of “Walk On” counterbalance the upbeat playfulness of “In The NA” and “Underage”.  The Hidden Cameras have always been known for their celebratory live performances, taken to churches, art galleries, with forty-piece dance troupes, and even performed in Munich, Germany during the halftime of a Bayern-Munich soccer game in front of a crowd of over 100,000.  They always make for a night not to be missed.

An audience of 100,000? Those in attendance at the Dublin Street United Church should certainly feel blessed.
