Scotland Yard Gospel Choir gets in crash, needs donations

on September 28, 2009, 9:05am

The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, the six-piece outfit hailing originally from Chicago, IL, was involved in a “terrible” van accident on Thursday, September 24th in Indiana, on its way to a show at the MidPoint Music Festival in Cincinnati, OH.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a tire blow out on I-65 caused the band’s 1999 Chevrolet van to roll over five to eight times on the grassy median.

An issue statement by the band’s label, Bloodshot Records, confirmed that all six members suffered injuries, some being more severe than others:

Alison Hinderliter, Jay Santana, and Ethan Adelsman were all released from the hospital last night with minor injuries. Elia Einhorn was held overnight with injuries to his head and neck, and is expected to be released tomorrow. Mary Ralph has a broken pelvis and collarbone, and will probably be moved to a hospital closer to home. Mark Yoshizumi was airlifted to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn last night with injuries to his head, back, and neck. He is in serious condition, but making progress.

The statement went on to explain that the band’s gear was destroyed, and the van was totaled.

As you could probably imagine, considering all of the above, and as the statement notes, “a lot of musicians don’t have health insurance, copious amounts of income, or time to spare off work,” Scotland Yard Gospel Choir is currently seeking Paypal donations. You can send them to
