Pavement announces Australia dates

on October 13, 2009, 11:07pm

In today’s edition of Pavement reunion-palooza, the legendary indie rockers have announced a seven-date run for Australia and New Zealand in early March (via Triple J), which of course will proceed both the band’s previously announced NYC stint and appearance at All Tomorrow’s Parties. In other words, Pavement’s reunion tour is shaping up to be a global affair.

Word on the street is that the engagements down under, which kick off on March 1st in Auckland, will be the band’s first scheduled comeback dates, and will be followed by a extensive, yet-to-be-announced tours in both Europe and the U.S. We also hear that while not officially official, an appearance at this year’s Coachella is all but a done deal.

As for what to expect once they’re actually playing? Well, if you put much stock in Bob Nastanovich’s recent interview with The Quietus, there won’t be any new material or a performance of “Recorder Grot Rally”, but “I’d like to play ones like “Stop Breathing”, “Type Slowly”, and “Transport Is Arranged”.”

Oh yeah, and remember kids, this is a one-time only type of thing, so seriously, let them milk it for all it’s worth…
