So, remember last month when we told you that The Decemberists’ most recent full-length, The Hazards of Love, was going to become a synchronized piece of animation for an upcoming performance at UCLAs Royce Hall in Los Angeles on October 19th? Well, if you’re like us, you probably had no idea what to expect
Thankfully, The Decemberists have answered our questions by unveiling a trailer of what is now being referred to as Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized. As you’ll see, the video, a collaboration between the band and four filmmakers, Guilherme Marcondes, Julia Pott, Peter Sluszka and Santa Maria, is trippy, numbing, and downright beautiful. Perhaps “stunning” is the appropriate word choice here?
As mentioned, The Decemberists will perform the entire piece synchronized with the animation, as well as an additional second set of older and newer material at UCLA on October 19th. Incredibly, tickets are still available.
