When recently speaking to NME, however, the singer/songwriter revealed that another project titled Permanent Adventure is up first. Unfortunately for us, he appears to have roped in Fab Moretti (drummer for The Strokes); the duo have worked together in the past on Megapuss, but Permanent Adventure takes the weird factor to another level:
“We wear helmets, and we have contact mics on the helmets. And we run at each other, and that’s the percussive element. And then I say ‘What are you on?’ and he says ‘I’m on a permanent adventure.’ And that’s the scope of the ad campaign where we’re selling our product, which is extreme cologne.”
Thankfully Banhart is not entirely serious; when asked for confirmation, his publicist said, “The collaboration is real, the cologne is not.”
He also dropped some hints about Little Joy‘s future: “Little Joy’s new record is going to come out on Rough Trade”. We sound like a broken record, but what on earth does this mean for The Strokes? Aren’t they meant to be recording in January? Don’t they have festival appearances planned, already? Heaven knows.
