Gorilla Manor is the name of the former residence of Los Angeles-based next-big-thingers Local Natives.
Gorilla Manor is also the name of the much anticipated full-length debut of Los Angeles-based next-big-thingers Local Natives.
The former proved to be a big inspiration for the latter — after all, they did use its name for the title. Explains guitarist Ryan Hahn:
It was insanely messy and there were always friends over knocking around on guitars or our thrift store piano… it was an incredible experience and Ill never forget that time.
The album, which was primarily written in the house and then recorded by Raymond Richards in West Los Angeles, promises to hear “make soaring, sky-scraping harmonies, dreamy orchestral melodies, and throbbing tribal beats that bash their way into your soul.” As Hahn notes, “Its about peoples obsession with the miraculous and disastrous with witnessing extraordinary events.”
12 tracks attempt to accomplish this feat, including single #1, “Sun Hands”, which you can check out below (via P4k), and a cover of the Talking Heads’ “Warning Sign”.
