moe. celebrates 20 year anniversary with benefit concert & tour

on December 22, 2009, 11:20am

Jam bands are a jewel to behold. With The Grateful Dead in the 60’s kickstarting the entire movement, jam bands have more or less seen an incredible amount of growth and dominance in the past twenty years. This goes without saying for the Utica, New York based jam rock quintet moe. From gaining a devoted fanbase and establishing many of their own festivals along the way, the New York natives know how to carve a niche. As a result of this hard work ethic, and in honor of the band’s 20 years together, moe. will kick off a two night stand at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom. The first night will be a benefit concert for WHY, otherwise known as World Hunger Year. Also capitalizing on this achievement, moe. will also release an anthology of their best-known works as well as re-recorded versions of their songs from their major label releases.

The first night will include a cast of jam band all-stars including Butch Trucks (Allman Brothers), Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band) and Marco Benevento (The Benevento Duo). Afterward, the jam-happy quintet hit the road for a lengthy three month tour which includes a three-day stop in Killington/Rutland, VT for one of the band’s very own festivals, snoe.down. Special guests will include Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Railroad Earth, Hot Day at the Zoo, and The McLovins.

Not to be outdone, moe. will also make an appearance at the 10th annual Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, Illinois from May 28-30. Special guests for that include The Avett Brothers, Umphrey’s McGee, Gov’t Mule, Yonder Mountain String Band, and much more to come.

Get your schedules in check, for this promises to be a stellar adventure. What better way to kick off “the Tens” than partying with these New Yorkers? This is definitely worth the full night out.
