a-ha announce rare U.S. tour dates

on February 01, 2010, 10:55am

After more than 25 years together, the legendary Norwegian synthpop band a-ha will use 2010 to say goodbye. Starting March 4th, Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen, and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy will embark on the “Ending On A High Note Tour,” a global endeavor which will see the band tour throughout much of 2010 before officially saying goodbye with a series of sold-out dates in Oslo, Norwary.

And as it so happens to turn out, a-ha’s travels will in fact take them to U.S., which has been something of a rarity in recent years. For only the second time since 1986, the band will perform in the states, though, dates will be limited to only New York and Los Angeles. The fun, which follows a lengthy South American tour, kicks off with a two-night stint in New York starting May 7th. A week later, on May 15th, the band will take to Los Angeles (with more dates to come in between?). After that, it’s on to Europe for a summer full of and goodbyes farewells.

Beginning Tuesday, February 2, a-ha.com members will have the opportunity to purchase “some of the best seats in the house” during a ticket presale (limit of four per order).

Of course, all this comes as Furuholmen also gears up for the debut release from Apparatjik, his new project with Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman and Mew frontman Jonas Bjerre. The band is expected to mark the release with a live performance in Berlin later today.
