Kaki King announces Junior, spring tour

on February 22, 2010, 11:30am

The “Guitar God” is back! On April 13th Atlanta native Kaki King will be releasing her fifth studio album, entitled Junior, via Rounder Records. A whirling rollercoaster of goodness, both lyrically and sonically, as well as showcase of her renowned musicianship, Junior perfectly captures King’s spell-bounding guitar playing and ever growing sound; further proving her ability to continuously dazzle audiences with a slightly new and more mature sound. And to celebrate its release King will be embarking on an exciting tour through the U.S. this Spring!

Junior like 2008’s Dreaming of Revenge was produced by Malcolm Burn and was made to spotlight the fantastic threesome: King, Dan Brantigan and Jordan Perlson. However, unlike Dreaming of Revenge, which is remembered for its deep textures and unusual instrumentation, Junior is an even bolder, more direct interpretation of rock music that only King could tap. She later remarked, “Prior to this I would have written a lot in the studio and played all the instruments myself. This time, I really leaned on Dan and Jordan to help shape the songs and help me get the record written.”

From the beginning, King has always been a stand-alone artist. She bears no need for definition or categorization, she simply is. When asked about her record production she remarked, “I never made records for other people. My evolution from record to record has been personal not commercial.” See below for a full list of tour dates starting in mid-April. Tickets can be had via Ticketmaster.com.
