My, the corporate beast that Live Nation has become. Less than a month after the merger of the decade (well…so far), Live Nation Entertainment has struck a deal to sell concert tickets at Wal-Mart, everyone’s favorite large corporation. Rollback Wednesdays are inevitable.
According to Billboard, select Wal-Mart stores across the U.S. will offer tickets to sporting events and concerts in the entertainment section. About 500 stores, including major markets like Chicago and Los Angeles, will participate beginning in the next few months, Live Nation’s CEO announced this Friday during a panel discussion at the NBA Technology Summit in Dallas for All-Star Weekend.
So you’ll soon be able to order Jay-Z tickets at the cash register while you pick up a tastefully-censored copy of The Blueprint 3. You can already do the former at Blockbuster, but no one’s been in there for a couple years.
