Bone Thugs-N-Harmony prep LP & tour

on March 16, 2010, 2:35pm

Thanks to reasons beyond my own control — call it an act of god, strict policies, or shitty SAT scores — I never enrolled at University of Florida in the early ’00s. Instead, Florida State University became my new home for four years. Four. Long. Miserable. Years. Thanks to the city’s quaint geographical location, tucked away in the actual armpit of the state, hardly any acts came through town. Instead, you would have to travel 200+ miles to attend pretty much any act worth seeing. The campus hardly booked any shows, either. While UF brought in The Flaming Lips, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and The Strokes, FSU roped in such hot acts as Alien Ant Farm, Hoobastank, and Underoath. But amongst all the trash that only seemed to look normal in Tallahassee, students did get a chance to see Rilo Kiley, Wilco, and of course, one hell of a performance by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

Don’t you just love my drawn out anecdotes?

Anyways, three years after the 2007 release of Strength & Loyalty, Bone Thugs return with a new studio record. Titled Uni5: The World’s Enemy, the LP, which admittedly sounds like an XBOX360 game, “focuses on themes of unity and adversity.”

“You go through things to make you stronger,” Layzie explains in the album’s press release. “All your obstacles, all the things you go through that don’t seem positive at that particular time are only to get you ready for your next phase in life.”

Let’s hope he uses those words of wisdom in the near future, as the group is set to stomp across America, with appearances sprinkled everywhere but, shockingly, the West coast. Oh well, maybe they’re planning a summer vacation. We’ll let you know.

Uni5: The World’s Enemy hits both in-store and online retailers April 27th.
