James Brown’s body stolen, claims daughter

on March 13, 2010, 10:00am

He may have been the Godfather of Soul, but his kids probably could have been a little more careful with his body. As reported by Prefix, the body of James Brown, who died on Christmas in 2006, is nowhere to be found.

His illegitimate daughter LaRhonda Pettit, wanting to have a formal autopsy conducted to determine whether foul play was involved, went looking for his body and found it had been moved. Since Brown’s death (officially of heart failure resulting from pneumonia complications), his body has been temporarily resting at (legitimate) daughter Deanna Brown Thomas’ house while a mausoleum is built.

“My daddy’s body has disappeared. I have no clue where it was taken, but I need to know where,” Pettit said. She went on, “I’m convinced his death was suspicious and I want the people responsible brought to justice. The only way to do that is to exhume his body and have an autopsy. I cannot understand why one was never conducted.”

Pettit believes the body was stolen, but knowing James Brown, it’s just as likely he decided to “get on up” and bounce. Maybe the security guarding over MJ’s body wasn’t such a crazy idea after all.
