Here’s another reason to believe Led Zeppelin really isn’t reuniting anytime soon: Robert Plant and the Band of Joy.
Yes, the Led Zeppelin frontman has unveiled his latest project, a new band consisting of Patty Griffin (vocals), Buddy Miller (guitar), Darrell Scott (multi-instrumentalist), Byron House (bass), and Marco Giovino (drums). Together they form Robert Plant and the Band of Joy, and come this summer they’ll be hitting the road in support of their forthcoming debut record.
Currently, the dates see Plant and co. touring the southern United States (including Florida) for two weeks in July, kicking off on the 13th in Memphis. They’ll use the performances to debut music from the aforementioned album, which was produced by Miller and due for release, via Rounder Records, in the late summer or early fall. The record will mark Plant’s first new release since Raising Sand, his 2006’s Grammy Award-winning collaboration with Alison Krauss.
Tickets for the upcoming dates will go on sale starting Friday, April 2nd via Ticketmaster.com.
