Simon & Garfunkel set more dates, start of tour?

on March 08, 2010, 11:45am

Plenty of folks have seen Paul Simon do his thing on tour. A good few have shared coffee with Art Garfunkel in Greenwich Village. But not too many have actually witnessed the two together — at least not for awhile. In what will be their first respected tour since their “Old Friends” run in ’03, Simon & Garfunkel plan to entertain America for a few special dates in very select cities.

What started with an oddball lineup addition to New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (arguably the spiciest lineup this year yet), the influential duo continue to pencil in date after date, and in random places too. Last week, the Winnipeg Free Press reported that Simon & Garfunkel would be playing in Winnipeg come May 5th, while  The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead announced they’re slated shortly after in Fargo on May 7th. That’s not out of left field, right?

Now comes news that the two will stop in both St. Paul, MN and Madison, WI, on the 8th and 9th, respectively. But don’t get too excited just yet. Madison.com reports that the two will “[bypass] nearby cities like Milwaukee and Chicago”, as local promoter, Fred Frank, tells them, “They are only doing a few dates in the States.”

Oh well.
