For some (or many), an early preview of a new album consists of clicking on some shady link and downloading a half-ass quality ripped version. But when it comes to Stars‘ forthcoming album The Five Ghosts, the Canadian rockers will be providing the preview themselves. The catch? You’ll have to travel to hear it.
On June 1st, Stars will embark on a U.S. tour that will see the band take to the country’s more intimate venues and play The Five Ghosts in its entirety. The trek will conclude on a day after the album’s release, June 22nd, in Los Angeles. Furthermore, attendees will be able to purchase a pre-release album at the gigs, one which will include a limited edition lyric booklet with photos and written pieces from the band as well as a digital download card. And if that weren’t enough, Stars is also letting fans select additional set list and encore tracks by voting at the band’s website. So, just in case you don’t like the new stuff, there you go.
Tickets for the upcoming dates will go on sale starting Friday, March 26th via Ticketmaster.com.
A few additional tidbits before we go: The album’s lead single, titled “Fixed”, will be released on April 20th. Also on the Stars website today is the second album webisode documenting the band’s collective journey in creating this newest musical installment of their incredible career. Additional webisodes and other details will precede the official album launch of The Five Ghosts on June 22nd.
