There isn’t much The Chemical Brothers haven’t done in their nearly two decade long existence. Yet, for album #7, the legendary duo of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons decided to push the boundaries even further.
Due for release on June 8th, Further is billed as a culmination of the band’s entire career, “an immersive collection that finds The Chemical Brothers at their least-restrained and most-melodic best.” An issued press release continues: “Voice samples and snatches of vocals are woven through tracks to create a record that ebbs and flows like one of the bands legendary live sets. Here, West Coast power pop harmonies sit beside German Motorik rhythms while My Bloody Valentine-esque sonic manipulations plane across the top of early house basslines.”
In all, the record will consist of eight tracks, all of which will be paired together by an accompanying visual film created by long-time collaborators Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall.
If all that weren’t enough, The Chemical Brothers will look to support the release with a series of concerts this summer. They’ll kick things off in May with four dates in London before playing select festivals in Europe including Sonar Festival in Barcelona. After that, it’s on to the United State for a tour that will include dates at the Los Angeles based Hollywood Bowl on August 29th and Electric Zoo at Randall’s Island in New York City on September 4th.
