The Rolling Stones may record in late 2010

on March 08, 2010, 9:05am

Despite their legendary status, it’s hard to believe a word out of the giant lips of any of The Rolling Stones. Take, for instance, the possibility of the band touring in 2010; turns out, that’s not happening. Now, in an interview with Rolling Stone (via Gigwise), legendary guitarist Keith Richards is promising the band will record before the end of the year. Kind of.

“There’s no definite plans, but I can’t see any of them stopping,” Richards said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we did some recording later this year.”

As for any plans for touring, Richards (who denied rumors that he had quit drinking; we’re so proud) was slightly less vague regarding their touring follow-up to 2007’s “Bigger Bang” world tour.

“Maybe we’ll search for a different way for the Stones to go back on the road,” Richards said.“Maybe not the football stadiums anymore. Maybe something different. You can’t go around there in lemon-yellow tights forever.” (Especially with all the chemicals I’m sure Richards still imbibes).

As always, more details when and if they’re announced. Plus, we also got that Exile In Main Street reissue to look forward to.
