As you may have noticed from Lollapalooza’s recently announced lineup, Empire of the Sun is coming to the United States this summer. In fact, it’ll be the Luke Steele-led project’s first ever stateside trip.
In addition to Perry’s shindig, Empire of the Sun has announced three other U.S. dates, all of which occur immediately following its Lollapalooza set. Starting August 8th, the band will bring the sounds of its acclaimed 2008 debut Walking On A Dream to the cities of Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles. (Florida, you weren’t expecting to get your name called, were you?)
According to Lollapalooza website, Steele’s set will feature a full live band, so we can probably expect that to also be the case at the other three dates. Speaking recently with Spinner, Steele noted that the band’s live shows were always going to be bombastic and theatrical. “I’ve kind of designed the show as a movie,” he said. “There’s narration and there’s a lot of dance, and so it kind of takes you on a journey.” For a preview, we included a clip of Empire of the Sun’s debut live show below.
As for tickets? New York and Toronto go on sale starting Friday, April 30th, while Los Angeles will start on Saturday, May 1st. Head to Ticketmaster.com to score your tixs.
