on April 06, 2010, 12:15pm

With her latest single, “Rude Boy”, holding the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and a spring European tour already booked, Rihanna‘s on top of the world. So, there’s no better time to announce an American arena tour than now and that’s exactly what’s happening. This summer, the R&B singer will embark on her “Last Girl On Earth” tour throughout North America. Tickets will go on sale beginning on April 9th.

“We’ve never done a tour to this capacity. The production is unbelievable and the costumes, we just took it to a whole new level. Visually and sonically it’s going to be a big step up from the last time,” explained Rihanna in a recent interview with AOL. “We just keep growing and this time it is a massive production that I cannot wait for.”

The “Last Girl On Earth” tour will be a mix of amphitheater and arena shows, starting off on July 2nd in Seattle with stops that include Madison Square Garden in New York and the Staples Center in L.A. The tour is currently slated to wrap up on August 25th at Chicago’s United Center. Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj will provide support.

Prior to the U.S. trek, Rihanna is set to embark on a sold out European tour, which will end on June 5th with an appearance at the Rock in Rio Festival in Madrid. Before heading overseas though, she’ll perform on American Idol this coming Wednesday, April 6th.

Fan club members will have access to pre-sale tickets starting on Wednesday, April 7th at 10:00 am local time. Citi card members will also have access to pre-sale tickets the same day at 12 noon local time through Citi’s Private Pass Program. General tickets will be on sale starting Friday, April 9th and can be obtained via Ticketmaster.com.
