Rush rolls out summer tour

on April 08, 2010, 12:55pm

There hasn’t been much that Rush hasn’t done during its now 40+ year existence. Well, that is aside from performing its 1981 classic Moving Pictures, in its entirety, live in concert, something which the legendary Canadian outfit will look to change this summer.

Starting June 29th in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rush will embark on the “Time Machine Tour,” a lengthy summer endeavor which will see the band “perform its classics, give a taste of the future – and for the first time ever – feature the Moving Pictures album live in its entirety.”

Released in 1981, Moving Pictures was Rush’s most successful album to date, certified 4x Platinum and features some of the band’s most well known songs and perennial radio favorites “Tom Sawyer”, “Limelight”, and the Grammy-nominated instrumental “YYZ”.

As for “a taste of the future,’ as previously reported, Rush is currently working on its 20th studio album with producer Nick Raskulinecz. Several new tracks from these sessions will be debuted during the tour.

The current schedule has the band on the road through early October. Included will be appearances at the Milwaukee based Summerfest, the Sarina, Ontario based Bayfest, and the Festival d’ete de Quebec. There will also be stops at the New York State Fair, Allentown Fair, and Minnesota State Fair!

Tickets for Rush Time Machine Tour will go on sale beginning April 16th in San Francisco, Uncasville, Saratoga Springs, Denver, Chicago, Wantagh, Seattle, and Holmdel at Livenation.com. Tickets for performances in Milwaukee, Sarnia, and Syracuse go on sale April 17th. Additional ticket on-sale dates will be released in the days ahead.
