Nashvilles wacky, futuristic rock-opera band The Protomen have been stirring up a lot of noise with the level of mystery that continues to surround them. Since their self-titled debut album was released in 2005, fans have been left completely in the dark as to who The Protomen actually are, with each member in costume and under an alias at all times. Now seven months after the release of the epic prequel to their debut record, Act II: The Father of Death, the video-game nerds have released their second single entitled Light Up the Night.
Produced by Alan Shacklock (Meatloaf, Bonnie Tyler, Roger Daltry) and set in pre-apocalyptic times, Light Up the Night appears towards the end of this strange musical meets rock opera, a tale of two men. Bursting with late-’70s Queen-esque flavor, Light Up the Night is a song about rebellion and the need for hope in a world where humans rely too much on modern technology. And with its fast-paced 4/4 stomp and slammin guitar riffs, it’s hard not to get wrapped up in it.
If youve already given it a thorough listen, then you know exactly what we mean here, and for those of you who havent, look below for a stream of this outrageously enticing track. And while youre at it, check below for a full list of The Protomens extended U.S. tour dates.
